Thank you for the video it’s super helpful! I find the government websites are extremely confusing so it’s nice to have things explain by someone with a lot of knowledge and experience. I’ve had trouble finding answers for this online. My husband and I live in Australia and have been married here and lived for years but we’re looking to move to America to be with family. Is there an option for applying outside the US? Or do I as the citizen have to be in the US? Or is there a way for us to move over together and then start the application process. I also know there’s financial responsibility, as a couple that’s both moving back and starting over would the finances have to be made in the US? Thanks again for all the info in the video!

@@angelrose7906 I ended up hiring an immigration lawyer and highly recommend, they made me aware of a visa that I had no idea about that allows us to apply outside of the US but be able to quickly move. It’s called an exceptional circumstance visa I-130. Basically if you as the American have a job offer in the US that states your start date sometime within 2-5 months than your spouse can apply for a I-130 and the process is expedited a lot quicker than a normal I-130. But i definitely recommend hiring a professional if it’s possible because they just make it so much easier and they know what they’re doing so it takes a lot of the guess work out.

My boyfriend is here fleeing his country. He was paroled and has a lawyer and is filing asylum for him. I met him earlier this year, im currently pregnant and he now has his working permit. He’s working and I work only part time. How would that work? since I need proof I can support him. I was a student and working part time when I met him. I truly love him and we want to both get married before the baby is born.

Hey there, I really appreciate your work! And I really need your expert opinion. I came to the US on a J1 visa (subject to the 2-year home residency rule) and later switched to F1 status, which I’m currently on. Do I still need to fulfill the 2-year requirement, or can I apply for a green card through marriage to a US citizen? I’d really appreciate your advice on this. Thanks for your time!
Hi, thanks for your question! You can participate in Jim’s RU-vid live show @HackingImmigrationLawLLC & ask him any immigration questions. The next show is on today at 11:30 AM CST. Text SHOW to 314-470-3300 for new show updates & link for the show.
I am a US citizen living abroad with my wife. We filed the i-130 for her and it is almost done processing. Can we start submitting these other documents, or do we have to wait until the i-130 is finished processing? Also, my wife is likely going to be hired by a US company soon, but her green card process will not be finished. Should we file the I-765 asap so that she can start working in the US? Thanks so much for any feedback!

It seems like a green card is only valuable for couples who want to permanently live and work in the US with no flexibility. There are certain rules that prohibit you from being out of the country for more than 6 months, so for those who like to take a gap year to travel, spend a few months with family and/or work remote won’t benefit from being stuck in the US waiting for a green card.
Seems that way. My wife and I would like to spend about half the year in the US and the other half in Indonesia every year since we have family in both countries. They sure make things difficult if you don’t want a cookie cutter type life. 😢
Great informative video, it makes the process a little less stressful. My wife is pregnant and stopped working December 2023. Will that impact her opportunity to petition for me?
I am here on TN. FILED my green card application, it literally has been updated weekly and from when I filed it on 9.30.23 to today's date my status is updated to 3 weeks before decision. Is that normal ? Seems too fast to reach decision
Thank you for your video. I just want to confirm, I can visit my US citizen boyfriend on a B2 visa, get married in the US, and then file for change of status? Thank you.

hey! great video. I am on an E2 visa have a full time job in the US. My fiance is American but currently studying for a PhD and therefore a full time student. Would we have to wait until she is in full time employment to process the green card?
Hi Jim, what do you think is going on with a lot of 2021 filers? Why USCIS is approving 2022 filers and not the ones who applied back in 2021. My I-130, 765, and I -131 have been approved 9 months ago but no updates on i-485. I sent my RFE ( medical exam only) since March and I haven't heard anything yet. Thanks in advanced.

I overstayed my US tourist visa 19 years ago (so the 10 year ban is well expired). Last year, I applied for a tourist visa, it was unfairly denied (as if I've been banned for life). My girlfriend lives in Italy and so do I. My gf went to the US twice in her life (w her family). I've recently found out that She was born in the US (while her parents were visiting the US); she got US passport, her parents moved to Italy when she was a few weeks old. She's been living in Italy her whole life. If we get married here in Italy, can she get me a Visa? so that I can visit the US with or without her. Or even better, can she get me a Green Card, although we live in Italy?

Best immigration lawyer RU-vid channel. May need your services if for some reason our recent (fairly robust) and timely response to an AOS I-485 RFE we received in Oct 2022 comes back with an adverse decision. Then we will be devastated and lost. I just pray you offer payment plans.

Hi. Were you forced to produce W-2 forms in order to verify income before you can actually get the green card for your now wife? I'm just curious what that looks like because I'm unable at this time to produce w-2s to prove that I can support her or payback the government as he mentioned in this informative video. Thank you.

My wallet was stolen - I lost my Green Card. I applied for a replacement and was denied because I didn’t include a “certified record” of arrest and acquittal but sent a copy. That was over 10 years ago. Now I can’t collect my Social Security because they want my Green Card - I have written INS several times but NO RESPONSE. I am Canadian and moved here legally in 1957 with my family. What can I do ?

Question: When filing Form I-765, should I select "Renewal EAD" or "Initial EAD" for part one; if I am on OPT and my EAD card has not expired yet? Thank you🙏
What if someone worked there for many yrs with a 0-1 visa but also did other work as self employed but paid taxes for all jobs but was not authorized for the other jobs? The visa expires in sept and they are getting married in US to a citizen in July. Will it be forgiven automatically?

Hello sir, my wife has canceled my immigrant visa interview couple of weeks ago, because we had arguments on some specific talks and she become angry and cancelled my interview. I received the cancelled letter emailed to me by the embassy. However, things are sorted between us now. We have waited in process for more 3 years. We are checking the case status on tracker, and it is still showing ready for interview. What are the options we have to keep this interview date?

Hello so my situation is that i went to Pakistan and got married January 14,2019 I stayed there for a month and when I returned to the United States and was hospitalized four days after returning. I had to get a tracheotomy replacement in my troat and regained my strength all over. With me being disabled I am unable to work physically and was told to get someone to do a sponsorship for me. At the time I couldn’t find anyone who was willing to help me they thought it was some kind of scam because they don’t know anything about immigration marriages. Then COVID happened and now I need my husband more than ever! I went to school to become a licensed manicurist and they giving me a hard time about uptaining my license because my disability which is discrimination. I need to figure out the best way to bring my husband to the US.

Hello, I have a question. I just married an US citizen, and we are planning to apply for the green card. However, my husband works independently as a personal trainer and is always paid on cash so he doesn't have the w2 to prove this amount. What can we do in the matter?

How can I file a law suet against immigration for denying my wife a green card even though we passed the marriage interview. This violates my free exercise rights since we were married in the Catholic church. My free exercise rights are being violated because they threated to deport her, used fraud to have me pay filing fee's which they clearly never intended to honor and denied her a green card which prevents her from leaving and returning to the U.S. and they are requiring me to pay an extra fee for her to have permission to work. It has been over 8 years since we passed our marriage interview and thousands of dollars all for nothing. My due process rights are being violated because I have never been allowed to face my accusers in spite of all the excess fines I've had to pay , that I actually paid to have a hearing for, but was never allowed to address the court.

If you pay a lawyer or paralegal, they will do it all at once (they charge between $800-$2000). If you do it by yourself, you’ll do it step by step. We did it by ourselves and it took a LONG time (2.5 years), but I got it.
