You want to become a professional airline pilot one day. How do you get your multiengine Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or R-ATP (restricted) certificate? What do you need to know BEFORE you start even your instrument rating or commercial pilot training? How can you unlock extra cross country time you didn't know you had? What benefit does attending a college/university with R-ATP approval have for you and your career?
When deciding where to do your flight training, consider whether the college or university can allow you to get your R-ATP and save yourself 500 hours total time and potentially a YEAR or more before you can fly for an airline! Ask the college/university to see their approval letter from the FAA or at least the approved list of coursework. LeTourneau University's list and approvals is found here (as an example): bit.ly/R-ATP
Here is an article I wrote on this topic: bit.ly/R-ATP2
Referenced is Advisory Circular 61-139 which you can read here: www.faa.gov/re...
Check out my other videos covering regulations, airline operations, airline interview prep topics, video tours, instrument flying, and weight and balance calculations!
Visit my website at www.theaviationvault.com to learn much more about aircraft dispatchers, airlines, and dispatch history!
Learn more about LeTourneau University's aviation program at www.letu.edu/fly or about our all-online Aviation Studies degree program at bit.ly/Aviation....
Always remember that Laura, when you get right down to it, is just a pilot and a dispatcher. She is explaining facts from the source materials but may be incorrect or out of date. You should always follow your primary guidance (Aircraft manuals, government regulations, etc.) before listening to anything from this RU-vid channel. These videos are intended for educational purposes only.

I'm hopeful the video and information presented was helpful, since this can be confusing when you are evaluating flight training options.

61.1 says that you need to land at a point at least 50NM from point of departure.
