Montreal had the lowest points per game against with McDavid in the entire league for the last 3. I don’t know how that stat has changed with that one game where he got a bunch of points but our strategy for the last few years has just been pairing him against Evans with our shut down defencemen being on the ice with him at all times.
I suggest that the other NHL teams take a more relaxed approach to him and just... Stand back.... Truuuuust me he will implode without defensemen to walk through!! Truuust me... Give him room! >:)
After 1993 loss final 1994- Canucs 2004- Calgary 2006- Oilers 2007- Ottawa 2011-Vancouver 2021- Montreal 2023- Toronto Maple loss ... 2024- New "Russian 5" in Winnipeg : Ovi-Gino-Kuch, Provorov & Sergach. 2025- Jets- Champion Stanley Cup !!! 2026- Quebec Nordiques- welcome to the NHL . 2027- 8 clubs Canadian division in NHL
Pretty sure the answer to this is : Have Cale Makar on your team and he'll poke check his ass and make his whole team look like amateurs in the playoffs.
Makar backed by the most stacked team in the cap era hard focusing Mcdavid made him look like an "amateur"... even though he still almost had 2ppgs against them lol
Honestly, Montreal and Winnipeg with some solid ideas. As an Oilers fan, I can tell you that the best way to beat McDavid are to not give him space, or score more than the Oilers can
I find it funny that during the bubble season Pionk and Morrisey actually did quite a good job at shutting him down. And McDavid wore DeMelo as a backpack all playoffs
So good to hear from my team the Habs. They were totally absent from part one. I suppose that once they get back into playoff mode in a couple of years or a few seasons then we will have a strong voice again. Thanks 👍
Honestly I have no clue how Edmonton consistently has the top 2 players in the league and doesn't make the playoffs or doesn't go anywhere in them. Not close to top 2 but actually number 1 and number 2. It just makes no sense.
Just get a Sebastian Aho, Jorden Staal, Jaccob Slavin , and a Brett Pecsi. Look at McJesus's stats Vs the Hurricans or any game he has played against Sebastian Aho. Aho has always stopped McDavid and out scored him in head to head games.
