On a dual carriageway with central reservation, 3.5 ton van speed limit is 60mph .If your doing 68mph in your van, even though you are over limit, do they go by the normal car speed limit which is 70mph or every class vehicle will get looked into as to there speed limit ? This is with the speed camera vans
If you are approaching a van in distance on other side of the road on a dual carriage way. And the van is facing towards you, if you slow down to speed limit well before you pass but while you are at front of it will it clock you. Do cameras face out front and back or just side and back?
These vans are nothing but money makers for the state. They can lie all they want, its not about safety, it's about money. They are doubling the fine from €80 to €160.
Hi, just wondering about something in relation to the gosafe speed vans. Drove past one the last morning around 6:30 am, so it was still dark. I noticed the lights on top were flashing Amber and the interior lights were on, I could see the fella inside and pretty sure he had his back turned to the camera. Would the camera be still operating or was this a sign he was still setting up? Cheers
I got a speed fine im 99.9 percent that a picture was taken before I came into the boundary of 50km reason being I past the van on my way to my destination so I knew it was there and on the way back you can see the van miles away before you hit the 50km boundary this happen to anyone do I fight it or just suck it up which is very unfair thanks
I'm guessing the vans work the same in the UK? Though I believe the vans here use laser technology rather than radar, as you mentioned was used in Ireland. Not entirely sure though.
Can a speed van on one side of the motorway scan the speed of cars going in the opposite direction - on the opposite side? The van wouldn’t be visible to cars going in the opposite direction
Potentially yes, the new vans have the ability to measure vans in both directions, but it depends on the location and each location is different. But, potentially yes.
A quick question can front camera in a speed van catch your speed ??... I was heading towards the speed van but the camera was on the rear ?? So I'm just asking does the front camera record the speed also ??
I have a question please is there any another type of speedy cam in ireland like we can see another cams on streets on columns are they speedy cams as well?or just cam vans work for speed
Thanks great video, do you have a calbration cert or know the company that issiue the certs, the Garda told me no video in back of vans , there are two agd radars in the back ,
If you are driving over the speed limit towards the front of the van and then slow below the limit passing the rear of the van can you be caught for speeding by the camera?..
hi Johnny, thanks for watching! From my research, it seems that currently you can only be caught speeding from the rear of the Van. But technology can change so quickly that it wouldn't surprise me that in the not too distant future, you could be caught from the front as well. Thanks again for watching!
Driving on the road seen the front of the speed van in a 50 zone. I was doing 60. I breaked twice and I slowed down it was 50 before i pass the van and 46 when I passed the van. I hope i dont get fined judging by this video I will get done for speeding.
Thank u for the information. I have a question here . If i saw the van ahead of me in a distance of 200 mitres and i slow down my speed immidiatly back to the speed limit marked there is that mean the detecter cam it wont catch me or is too late ?
@@MikeC1984 yeah like I was 100% over the limit. Doing 80 in a 50km zone but I was over taking an old guy doing 40km and it's a two labe road. Why it's 50km I don't know. But I slowed right down quickly then I noticed the lights flash on and off. I hope it's not a signal to say "gotcha fucker". Thing is, I wouldn't have been speeding if it wasn't for someone driving stupidly slow. Where did you get caught?
@@pavethewayent Awh tell me about it. When you're going to work or coming home to your family after working all day and you get caught behind slow drivers or a w*nker on a bike. It would drive you mad.
On the m50 southbound near to wicklow there was a van in the distance and big bends in the road ,can the van get you around bends ? Basically it could see my windscreen upwards when i was just doin a bit over the 100km limit ? So can it detect you around bends like that ?? Thanks in advance
Thanks for watching! There is a bit of leeway, some websites say that there is a leeway of about 10 percent, so therefore if you were doing 110kmh in a 100 zone you may be ok. Obviously I can't say for definite if you were caught or not, but once you can see the van, its likely that it can see you. Hope this helps to answer your question👍
Another question pal ,i went by 1-2 vans over 14 days ago in the work van ,and still havent heard anything ? If i remember correctly ,i read somthing online that if you receive the FCN after 14 days of the postal date then the FCN is invalid ?? (Fixed charge notice)
Can a speed van catch 2 cars at once from the back. Eg. if a car was overtaking another car and he was speeding but they were side by side passing the van. Does the over taker get caught?
Do you have to actually pass the van to have a picture taken of your reg plate? 'I know a guy who knows a guy' who was doing 100 on a 80 stretch of rural road and when he saw the van he pulled in on the other side of the road, reversed into a driveway of a house then went back the opposite direction without passing the speed van.
Are you only caught when u are right at the back of the camrea and the picture is taken? So if I’m doing 130 in a 120 zone break when passing the van doing like 60/80km will I be caught?
It really depends, but I have seen generous leniency while others have reported very little to none at all. A lot of it also depends on the calibration of your car’s speedometer. You could be reading it as a few KPH over the limit but your true speed is a little below that.
The Points system is harsh but I can accept it. What I can't accept is that it raises your insurance. The government regulates you to have mandatory insurance while not regulating the insurance industry at all
i personally think they should be unmarked, such as plain white or gray, it would work way better. but unfortunately people complain about privacy infringement or something.

You will see the infrared light if you drive past at night so may work. Can't see the light travelling that far although the detector has a range of around 1k
