Harper embodies what it is to be a Philadelphia Philly and this is a special team they never quit and if u ever get a chance to go to CBP it's amazing the energy that that park brings
I'm gonna get roasted for this but I'm from Philly so I need to say it or else I'll combust. When talking about an individual player on the Philadelphia Phillies, it's spelled 'Phillie', when talking about the city by using its nickname, it's 'Philly' Also you're completely right. Bryce IS Philly
@@smelltheglove2038debatable. The biggest thing about 2008-09 was the long dry spell that preceded that run, 1 pennant from 1983 to 2008. (1993 was a magical ride but a definite fluke.) But the energy now is different, in that we know we affect the games. The good vibes from Trea Turner’s turnaround, the Day Care kids all help. And this team loves the fans. There’s a different energy and having gone to games during both runs, this is something awesome.
Tbh Alec Bohm & Bryson Stott have been IRREPLACABLE in this lineup. And talk about Schwarbs havin a whacky and incredible season! First player to ever hit under .200 with 100+ RBI what a season! Also honorable mention Johan Rojas our rookie CF that was called up in July. The vibe changed a lot for the better when he came up. Kid has been raking and he's fast af and a lockdown center fielder 😤 LFG!
47 hr, 100 rbis, 100 runs, 100, walks, .350 obp, very effective despite low avg. that’s because he is there to swing for the fences. Knock in 100. Not run the bases. That’s what they have him up top for. I wish he had Harper stott turner Casey etc in front of him instead of 7 8 and 9 hitters, but he still drove in over 100 rbis. What leadiff hitter does that, they usually score 100 runs, not hit 100 rbis, very few do that. Only issue is clogging the bases when he gets walked 100 times. But there’s a lotta pop right behind him. And guys that can hit a few singles or a double knocking him in. That and hitting behind the 789 hitters are the drawbacks of him leading off. He does it well though
On top of all that Bryce did at the plate, he learned a new position that he never played before in his life and did it successfully. He is absolutely underrated
You’re right about everything except him being underrated. You have to remember he was not just the best high school prospect in American history, he was the biggest name in the WORLD coming into his rookie season. Yeah the buzz died a little when he got hurt, but I promise you no one is sleeping on Bryce. I’ve been a Phillies fan for a long time, and a Bryce fan for a long time, we knew EXACTLY what we got in Bryce and baseball fans have always known exactly who Bryce is.
The Phillies are just beginning to flex their collective muscles. They have owners that will spend $ to get the players (Harper, Wheeler, Realmuto, Turner & so many more!) and a great skipper to run these guys. They didn’t sell off the farm system for the "win now at all costs" mentality. They maintained their farm system and have been rewarded with many quality minor league players, many of whom are near or at, worthy of promotion to the Show. The players have each others’ backs. If a guy strikes out the next guy picks him up. Base hit, double, etc. Been doing it all year. Brotherly Love. Bottom line-it’s good to be a Phillies fan. ❤😎🤘
And didnt even mention Castellanos (106 RBIs), Bohm (95 RBIs), Stott (team leading 4.1 WAR), or Rojas a rookie hitting over .300 w/ elite defense and baserunning.
This season especially has been fun to watch. Turner's complete turnaround, Harper's return from Tommy John surgery , rookie Rojas, etc. What a season its been.
Honestly I feel like they do it somewhat on purpose. You don’t want to get hot during the first half and hit a slump during the second half when it matters. I love what Harper did so many clueless Phillies fans couldn’t understand why he had no power the first half of the season. The power was going to come when he gets completely healthy. Need to talk about Stott, Rojas, maybe even Kerkering more. Stott has done nothing but get better each season and then you have Rojas starting to come into his own in the field and swinging the stick. Also why is no one talking about the season Kimbrel is having?
I AM A PHILLIES FAN WE NEED TO WIN...THE REASON WHY WERE DOING AMAZING IS ARE TEAM,CROUD,AND THE LOVE AND THE REASON WHY IS BECAUSE ITS A PHILLIES THING!⚾️
Most impressive thing about Harper's batting/slugging is on one of the early broadcasts in this series the announcers said the analytics show he gets thrown less balls in the strike zone than any player in baseball. When he gets a pitch thrown to him in the strike zone, you see what he does with it.
Phillies are playing loose and they genuinely like each other. They're having fun and it's so fun just watching them play. If they beat the Braves (fingers crossed), they'll WIN the World Series
Phillies were 22 and 29 to start the season, no Harper, turner was playing like ass, Nola and wheeler sucked, and then everyone snapped.. that’s what makes Philly scary and I wouldn’t wanna face that team this post season especially since late July to now
Phillies got that knock around street ball vibe where their will to win exceeds facing opponents with superior talent... Phillies are always interesting in the playoffs... Sometimes chemistry is more important than talent.
@@SouthPhilaMilla Game 1 Monday at The Bank!!! The place will be rocking!!! Phils are gonna be a tough out the rest of the way. Would love to get a rematch with the Astros and beat them this time.
Dude, good job, but maybe don't talk about the Phillies with a 1993 Blue Jays World Series banner right behind your head. Gave me the shakes remembering. 😢
The fightin Phil’s!!! ❤❤❤ Philthly. We love daddy Bryce, nasty casty, schwarburger, trea turnarounder, hotty stotty, bohmer, swamp man (marsh), relamuto, Alvarado, wheeler, Nola, Suarez, Rojas…. We are taking it baby!!!! 🎉❤ 🥳
This is a 100W team. Look at the record since June 2nd. They were 2 Ws away from the 🏆 last year and added A Top 10 Player. This is a lineup full of 1st rd picks meaning high end talent all either about to enter, are in the middle of or at the tail end of there prime. With a a non steroid Barry Bonds as the centerpiece. Harper and Turner are arguably the best combo L/R combo in MLB when playing to there potential and not injured. They really have the perfect combo of Elite and All Star Vets combined with high end young talent. They are much better defensively, more versatile, and have a better bullpen then last year. Wheeler Nola Suarez Walker/Sanchez/Lorenzen Is a deep rotation with extremely high end potential at the top 2 and then they can shorten the game with nothing but Heat from both sides Soto, Alvarado, and Strahm from the Left and then Kerkiling, Dominguez, Kimbrel, Hoffman, Marte from the Right. I think Sanchez will be used much like Ranger was used last year. Obviously the Braves and Dodgers are Elite in the NL. The AL doesn’t really have a dominant team this year I still think the Astros are the deepest, but no doubt the Phillies have one of t he most well rounded teams in MLB with 🏆 upside if there produce to even close of there max potential and career stats
Bryce is the Best player in Baseball, hands down. When he was on the Nationals I respected, but hated him. And the only reason I hated him is cause he wasn't on my team. But there is a God, and he came to Philly. Got two of his Jerseys the first day he signed. Go Phils!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@carolbuscher3862 yeah, you know Baseball. Did you realize he had Tommy John surgery right after the WS? And came back in May?? And then look what he did. Do think so.
Not a Phillies fan this team has 9 players 1 through nine that can come up with clutch ht at any time they know they are good they are very confident if they keep this team together they have multiple World Series appearances and wins
The Phillies only real weakness is the back end of their rotation. In a 3 man rotation during the post season, that weakness is mitigated. You have Wheeler, Nola, and 14 win Tijuan walker? Damn good 3 man rotation. The bad part was 4 and 5, also their temporary 6, which stunk.
I am a Phillies fan here, been watching them all year, and yes they are "hot" right now, BUT they have been "hot" against teams that they ARE better than they are. Once they match up against teams with winning records and/or better records than they have, they aren't so "hot", and lose more than they win. Won 3 series in a row currently, but they faced a Braves team who didn't NEED to win, and beat teams who are completely out of the postseason, meaning they are teams the Phillies HAVE been beating already this year. They may go 3 games in the WC round, but I see them bowing out to the Braves in the NLDS IF they make it.
Phillies are 47-43 against above .500 teams. That’s the 4th best in the NL and the 5th best in all the major leagues (Only the O’s in the AL have a better record against winning teams.) The Phillies also have only had one losing streak of 4 games (July 19th-22nd) since their worst streak of 5 losing games in May (14th-19th) all season. Essentially, as a fan that’s watched every game and keeps track of the stats, I have no idea what you’re talking about and must assume you’re regurgitating some talking points you’ve heard elsewhere.
@Saints0905fan…They’ve also hit the most home runs in August . As far as baseball goes your nothing more than a ad liber getting all your knowledge from a book . I’ve been watching baseball before your daddy was born and I know what can happen once the playoffs start. So why don’t you go get a corner somewhere and sell hot dogs.
Exactly the reason the Braves will exit early..their pitching is definitely a problem..like a box of chocolates..you just don’t know what you’re going to get.
Is he saying Phila Dahl Phia like that for clicks? Where is the premise of "getting away" with something? Title should have been :"Did you know Philadelphia had a baseball team? Shocking truth revealed; they do"
I'm a BIG Phillies Fan and I just want to say Harper needs to control his temper. (umpire did blow that call). It won't help us in the post season with that temper!!
yup dont want to bring up roids but all of harpers tests were done 2 weeks prior to seasons end look at the production after and the helmet toss after arguing with ump cmom mann its so friken plane as day
Well, clearly you did this video as someone who grabbed some clips and looked at baseball reference without doing any research, but anyone who actually pays attention to the Phillies this year knows that Castellanos is the one whose veteran presence has been the key to this years sucess, not Harper. Also, who says Nola is having a 'down year', when he's been historically awful in August and September his entire career. The fact that you put no shine on any of the Phillies call ups like Johan Rojas and Christian Sanchez also speaks volumes for your lack of prepwork.
yes, hes been the worst in august and september, but he is still having a huge down year. he has almost has a 5 ERA. anyone that has actually watched the phillies this year would know that nola has been bad all season
Phillies has a great season if Angel Hernandez would do a legal job and shut his lying yapper. Great line up like EDIT 2008; the year they won World Series. They can do it again.
@@faegrrrl lol probably cause 2012 was the end of a great 5-6yr run for that phillies core. so close to that back 2 back and amazing starting rotation. shame the bats got colder and colder when we had that big 4 rotation. so many 1-0/2-1/3-2 losses.
I'm a Phillies fan and watched almost every game except for the halve dozen or so that were on some BS jump thru hoops channels. Thing that worries me the most is choking Aaron so called Ace Nola. Bum has not had a winning g record impact three years. For awhi!e he was leading the league in home th s given up. Guy can pitch 3 or 4 great innIngs then fall apart.
Wheelers one of the best pitchers in the league. Kind if like a scailed down version of Alcantara. Doesn't have the stamina and throws a few mphs slower but one hell of a pitcher with the right offence. Its there starter pitching depth im worried about
There is nothing worse than a Canadian person's accent telling me about how good my Phillies are! Everybody already knows how good our Phillies are and definitely don't need Canadians to tell us that!
