There are many challenges to make hybrid work, work for both employees and their employers. Central to solving these, is a fundamental shift in our understanding of what "hybrid" really means.
Mark Mortensen is Associate Professor of organisational behaviour at INSEAD and he specialises in non-traditional team dynamics in a way that speaks to the current radical shift in relationships between leaders and their staff. Mark is an associate professor of Organizational Behaviour at INSEAD. He researches, teaches, and consults on issues of collaboration, organizational design and new ways of working, and leadership. His area of expertise is organisational collaboration, with an emphasis on two increasingly prevalent ways of organising that do not fit traditional models of team dynamics: globally distributed (virtual) and project-based work.
Mark has worked with companies such as adidas, Deutsche Telekom, Gen Re, Goldman Sachs, Maersk Oil, Merck KGaA, SAP and Qatar Petroleum, Mortensen helps leaders devise strategies that improve how people work together and propel organizations into the future of work. Prior to joining INSEAD, Mortensen was on the faculty of the MIT Sloan School of Management and the Desautels School of Management at McGill University. He holds a doctorate in management science and engineering from Stanford University, a master’s degree from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree from Colby College, both in computer science. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

bro the very nature of this question, serves the most wealthy. Workers who enjoy work differently should get to figure out what works best for them.

Lol at the commute is used to decompress btw. I'd best it's time to listen to an audiobook, then again I could do that at the gym I'd go to instead of that approximate 1 hour commute. I can manage my own time thank you very much

Those who want to work from home should be able and those who want to visit office should be able, its should be employee choice. Ideal policy in my opinion. Each human decides for himself where is he is most effective.

Spoken like a guy who misses bossing people around. Hybrid work is more productive, convenient and wanted period. What we do not need is more consultants.

It is quite true what Philosophy says: that Life must be understood backwards. But that makes one forget the other saying: that it must be lived-forwards. The more one ponders this, the more it comes to mean that life in the temporal existence never becomes quite intelligible, precisely because at no moment can I find complete quiet to take the backward- looking position.

What a joke of a ted talk this is. This isn't a critical discussion of how hybrid work has 'worked', or a discussion on how management is changing. This is a marketing presentation that's tailored to be a CEO's wet dream that justifies the capital investments in large, expensive and useless office real estate - the main reason why companies are so concerned about everyone returning to the office.

As being sent home to work, when I never wanted to be here. I agree with the total disconnect. I am a non-enitiy to the corporation now, when I was in office I felt more connected and valued, instead of just numbers to get out on time.
