That is a good question, the skeletal material that we have suggests that both were semi-aquatic and not well developed for locomotion on land. However, what is strange about both dinosaurs is that they lack broad hands and feet like those you see in another semi-aquatic animals (flippers/webbing etc). This may be explained by suggesting that the tall spine helped the dinosaurs swim by undulating a back and forth motion for swimming, as seen in some swimming reptiles.
What are the implications of their different limb proportions vis-a-vis their semi-aquatic behaviour? And would Baryonix also swim by undulating, despite the lack of vertebral spines? Thank you for your time.
