Dude. I just have to say. THANKS! You're the only guy I could find on RU-vid making vids that truly explain the history of dinosaurs. And so clearly & organized, to boot! Brilliant. Thanks again :)

I remember the exhilaration I felt learning about this as a child. 19 years later and I still feel like that same kid obsessed with the past and evolution of life with these alien like creatures. This stuff never gets old!

I've just watched your video explaining what a dinosaur is. and now this one. so here's my question: why are exactly these criteria chosen to decide if something is a dinosaur or not? I mean, the number of holes in the skull, that hole in their hips and so on. I am sure they are not randomly chosen, they must be important and picked for a reason, but why? how did the number of skull holes or that hip thing affect the llife of these animals? thanx a lot

Makes you wonder what humans might one day evolve into... you know, if we make it far enough to evolve...

Where do ornithischian dinosaurs begin to show up then?

Lesothosaurus appears in the early Jurassic of South Africa, often considered the earliest well known Ornithischian dinosaur by most workers.

Stupid question: Has anyone ever asked, if whatever evolved from large dinosaurs evolved into `the next phase of evolution` how is that even possible if the large dinos sudden became extinct. Wouldn`t it suggest that 65 million years ago (the last great extinction) Large dino DIDNT suddenly vanish but had enough time to somehow adapt to the harsh conditions to evolve into the next epoc. I guess in the grand scheme of things it looks to us like it happened in a blink of an eye, but, surely there must have been more than a few million years after the great comet all but wiped out 70-80% (whatever percent it was) life on earth. I mean, how can something evlove from mere bones of a long gone era. It couldnt.

I also don't know what you're asking, but ALL dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago except for the birds, and they had evolved from theropod dinosaurs about 100 million years before. Aside from them, all other major dinosaur groups did go extinct 65 million years ago.

Most birds also became extinct, as did most species of mammal. Just that a few species of bird and mammal survived whereas all the non-avian dinosaurs didn't make it.

Some birds and mammals made it threw this evolving into many other animals, there wasn’t always just dinosaurs when the meteor hit so the mammals and birds survived but no dinosaurs. Yes this is a stupid question your right but who told you there was only dinosaurs when the meteor hit?

There seem to be some assumptions in your question that lead you astray. People often think evolution progresses in stages of development, as if there is an end goal. There is a good reason palaeontologists think dinosaurs went extinct suddenly. The KT Boundary is a unique layer of material found in meteorites. This layer can be found all around the globe, so this meteor strike definitely would have affected all life on Earth. Whatever it was that dinosaurs depended on for survival but birds, reptiles and mammals didn’t is what made the difference between what survived and what didn’t. I don’t understand the part about evolving from bones. Care to clarify?
