As someone who grew up in IHOP community since it’s conception and my own family spent 13 years in Forerunner church until only recently, I think many are missing what God is doing, He is cleansing His church, judgment starts in His house. Anyone who lives here in KC and been at ground zero of this disaster is feeling an intense fear of the Lord. Ministries are realizing we have mishandled sexual abuse in the church as a whole, many ministers have no authority with sexual immorality because of their own sins and compromises, it’s an absolute disgrace to the power of the gospel. We have not been a voice for the vulnerable and have defended “shepherds” over the sheep. We have cared more about the institutions than the people. There has been gross cover ups and straight up demonic spiritual deceptions, people are done with it and praying church leaders will wake up and realize God is allowing this to happen and He isn’t going to allow His sheep to be abused like this anymore. We are Ezekiel 34 moment

It is my deepest desire to see all fallen spiritual leaders restored to faith. It really is. But does that always have to seem like the primary concern? Must other spiritual leaders make such a rush to defend or extend mercy before repentance and remorse has even been shown? Having been a victim myself and experienced the concealing of it by those in positions to defend me, my heart breaks. This happens, and continues to happen because enough men don’t stand up and say, NO MORE!

Exactly…until the church begins to face the fact that they have predators in the pulpits and in leadership positions and quit whitewashing it as affairs and ministry failings etc etc things will never change.. just another PR Campaign from another Good Ole Boy. Robby clearly can only see it from his perspective.. he tried but failed miserably.

Please hear me out here. I was a minor victim of this type of thing in a church 42 yrs ago. The total life altering devastation of what happens to the victims, their mental health, marriages, decisions in life, their families are dismissed with as “yes, we care about the victims, BUT”….then the 99.999% of the podcasts are then dedicated on how we can restore / describe the perpetrators!? That’s all we get!? When oh when will you church leaders help us with hours long podcasts of help and healing? It’s further humiliation and a swath of the hand dismissals. Our worlds completely changed, we doubt ourselves, we are live in shame…when we were innocent. It boggles my mind.
@maryestes9584

I agree.. as another 46 year old victim it is unbelievable that the focus is still on restoring the perpetrators.. but then again their Peers/ Fellow Pastors are the ones that hold the microphones and can not relate at all to the people they are supposed to be caring for and actually Pastoring. That came across loud and clear in this video.

I think there are volumes of resources addressing victims. What still evades the church, and unique to Christians, is how to love and restore offenders who want help/repentance. The world doesn't have this obligation, but we do. So the nuances are unique and misunderstood.

@@ProKr3w keeping all this hidden is how victims continue to feel isolated and shamed, like THEY are to blame. Having the internet (don’t have to explicitly give names etc) brings hope and healing to vastly more victims. We see that happening now. Plus it exposes those who have exploited innocent victims. Imo.

I agree with keeping ours eyes on the goal of restoration. But as you said, restoration cannot happen without the whole truth being exposed and repentance from the perpetrators. Unfortunately this situation that has occurred at IHOPKC is much more sinister than a leader who simply cannot control his sexual urges. The exposure is showing a leader who prayed on women as young as 14 yrs old, using his power, charisma, and even his prophetic gifts to manipulate his victims to coerce them into having sexual relations with him. The bonds were established not only for his own gratification but also to silence the victims to protect himself from being found out.. Some of the victims went to the leadership of IHOP, and nothing was done to rectify the situation. In fact, some of them covered it up, keeping the truth from being revealed. The reason the truth came out was because Mike Bickle and the leadership refused to do anything about the accusations when confronted. And then after the stories were made public, the people that knew the truth but were reluctant to act on it, lawyered up. Now what we're the victims supposed to do, get dragged into a court battle? This situation is more complicated and requires the transparency of many involved to get to the bottom of the evil that has taken place. Unless the whole rot is exposed, true restoration cannot not occur.

I think he didn't have intercourse because he didn't want any evidence...such as a baby with his DNA wondering around town.
@ays5696
@ays5696 4 месяца назад
MBs behavior is especially despicable and evil because he used holy spiritual gifts to commit unholy acts (even without intercourse the behaviors fall into sexual sin). It’s not dissimilar to Nadal and Abihu offering “strange fire” on the holy altar. The only restoration he should be afforded is restoration to a right relationship with God, NOT ministry. He should never again be in a position of being accountable for another Christian’s soul or operate in the office of a five-fold minister, or local elder or deacon. This is a terrible wound inflicted not only on specific victims but on ministries and the Church of Jesus Christ. Because of his sins, the credibility of all ministers is subjected to question or scorn by the world. New believers and long-standing believers are stumbled and too many will fall away from a trusting relationship with Jesus, His Church and those He calls to minister in His Name. So should it be made “less hard” or easier for him to be restored? I would hope not. Grace freely offered, yes, but this kind of repentance, if real, should be difficult, painful, etc. He didn’t just “fall into” temptation. If it is true that he had an office door that only locked/unlocked from the inside and with no windows, etc, that is calculated, predatory, premeditated sin. God help heal the giant wound inflicted on the Body of Christ and every God-fearing local church throughout the world. Help us, Lord.

There is no need to “be careful” with this case. Go listen to the different variations of the “prophetic” history. He was never qualified. There were ALWAYS stories of flock abuse emerging from IHOPKC, from its very beginnings. We rejoice in protecting future, vulnerable kids and women, in this case. We must pray for the Bickle’s restoration and conversion to Jesus Christ.

Exactly. IHOP was Bickles cover to be able to freely abuse. Yet Robby wants to shame us for knowing the details? Last time I checked the nitty gritty details of peoples sin was laid out in full throughout scripture. David’s sin. Samsons sin. Peters sin. Well, now it’s time for Mikes sin to be put on display. I believe that Bickle has had many opportunities to repent to trustworthy men of God whom have known him and love him deeply. I have not heard anyone deny that he can, and should be restored to right relationship with Christ. I honestly believe this exposure is the mercy of God in hopes that Mike would truly repent. His eternal salvation is at stake. God is jealous for him! .... We desire and agree with God for Mike's eternal relationship to be restored with the Lord. Restoration unto the Lord and restoration unto ministry are two completely different things. The sheep are tired of shepherds covering for one another and only caring for the wolves in sheep's clothing instead of the sheep. Ministry has become a professional occupation. It's grotesque and profane. Many if not most professional ministers are basically hirelings. This was never God's intention.

If you followed the IHOP situation closely it didn't just expose the sin and harm committed by Mike Bickle. It was also other people who shared the stage and 1) gave false prophetic words knowingly and manipulatively and 2) also sexually assaulted and/or manipulated people. It appears to be a hotbed of abuse in many forms. You may call those "gross details" but I think it is just getting to the heart of the matter.

Robby i love most of what you habe said, but i have a concern with restoration in this case. You kept mentioning sins like adultery and affairs but there are pathways back to ministry with those. However what you failed to mention is the sin of pedophilia and grooming which goes back to early youth group days. I dont see a pathway back to ministry with that being the foundation of past ministry. The restoration is repentance on to God but ministry seems to be off the table on this case.

This grieves my heart so much. I have experienced spiritual abuse where there are double standards, hypocrites and people manipulated for personal gain. These situations are often very cult like and destroy peoples faith. I’m reminded of the scripture where Jesus says that it would be better for someone to have a milestone tied around their neck and thrown into the ocean than to cause any little one to stumble. What is sad to me is that abuse can live for so long in churches because people live in fear of Man and often God because they have been manipulated by scriptures to offer in abandoned loyalty and submission tho their leaders. People that leave the church because of discernment are often shunned. It can take years before someone can have the courage to speak up. Many of us have had many micro traumas from a spiritually abusive and manipulative atmosphere it is even hard to put your finger on the abuse because it was so manipulative. I think that this larger issue of spiritual abuse is coming to light as well. Some of it I think ministers fall into because they have fostered a toxic environment. It is so sad. We absolutely need to pray! Lord have mercy. Heal our brokenness!

This is not good Robby, you should know better: 1) Threatning judgement on people who are making statements (10:21) is manipulative and trying to silence people from telling their story. It keeps the truth from coming out and protecting the purpotrators. Robby should welcome and encourge everyone to come foreward with their stories. 2) Robby says that we should not seek gross details (0:18)but then unloads lots of gross details about his dad, Jim Baker and other ministers. 3)Robby fails to make distinction between leaders who have fallen and leaders who have been abusive and manipulative over decades. They are not fit for church leadership.

There's one big difference between Mike Bickel, and your father and that is fame. He is a famous Christian. His platform is way bigger and the consequences of his decisions are way more far reaching. Unfortunately, because of his lack of character, the same platform that made him famous is now forcing him down. @pauljungck1643 4 месяца назад
@RobbyDawkins Interesting questions. It would sure seem like he was called by God. Then again being called is a pretty low bar since "Many are called but few are chosen" seems pretty vague. The next question is more Interesting to me. When he was grooming and abusing a 14 and 15 year old back when he was a youth pastor and appears to have had similar behaviors throughout his ministry, it begs the question of whether he was ever "in right relationship with God" to use your phrase. Obviously only God can answer that but scripture calls us to demonstrate fruits of repentance. If gross sexual sin never ceased in Mike's life it is a fair thing to question. Based upon 1 Corinthians 5 Mike would have been purged from the church at any time along that journey if things had been exposed. I appreciate your challenge against gossip. That said, there has been a dysfunctional culture of silence in the church that has enabled hidden sin like at IHOP. It plays out just like the dynamics of an alcoholic family. In that scenario the alcoholic parent is "God's anointed" and isn't to be challenged, just revered and tiptoed around. Nobody speak the truth. Stay quiet and don't rock the boat. To identify the problem is to become the problem. I think open dialog about how healthy systems look and function is imperative as the best ongoing check and balance. Anytime people are afraid to speak up and question it's a bad sign and my observation is that the pressure to keep things hidden has been a higher priority in the church than bringing all things into the light. Thanks for engaging with people on the thread. "Come, let us reason together."

From what you are saying we can’t judge if repentance has happened as hearing the nasty details is not for us . I went to the Church on the Way with Dr. Jack Hayford for 20 years. There were many miscarriages in the congregation and Pastor Jack asked the Lord if there was sin in the camp. It came out that one of the worship leaders greatly loved with his wife, had molested little kids, boys I believe. He was brought in front of the whole congregation and exposed and rebuked. The whole congregation sighed because he was greatly loved. He submitted himself to a restoration process and was reinstalled to ministry 3 years later. Which he shouldn't have. 53:36 That was tried repeatedly, for well over a year. If a leader resists a Matthew 18 process (he did), and acts vindictively (he did), he has to be publicly exposed, and loudly, lest other kids and women get destroyed by his massive influence. We don’t curate secrets and selective revelation while we let a celebrity leader quietly disappear in total unrepentance. This cannot be kept secret. Had Mike confessed during the Matthew 18 process and turned away from his sin, it’s likely the public wouldn’t know a single thing. The Lord is cleaning His house.

Really good and balance Robby, we met at Pastor Mike Hudgins church. Your a good man. I do believe the public confrontation according to 1 Timothy 5:20 is to bring a holy fear to all. I also agree how they respond is up to them, and anyone can tell if it's real and contrite by the response. I also believe that there is an element of shame and holy fear for the perpetrator to keep him from doing it again, but it stops there, it's done after that. I have friends very close to Mike and at this point it's unfortunate as he is not contrite and truly repentant right now, so let's pray that he comes under conviction and does the right thing, for as we extend mercy to him through prayer, we receive mercy. I never posted anything right away about it, even though I have known about it for some time now. I have posted a video recently of some upright brothers that have brought it out since then. I was in a situation in a church where I was one of the lead intercessors for the church and pastor. I sensed a block with this man for years, but the Lord told me to just stay and prayer, so I did, well it came out later about his affairs, it was so devastating, he was dealt with and stepped down, I really don't believe he has ever really repented, so I still pray for him, that he would truly be contrite and come under conviction and true repentance, that is my prayer. But I have only talked to a few people from the church about it, it's just sad to me. So yes I am all for church discipline, but it needs to be done in a contrite and upright spirit, and a spirit of holy fear.

Thank you for being totally biblically honest. Your beginning question/statement(not necessarily word for word), "if you want all the details, I'm concerned about you", I believe was Yah responding to my prayer this morning. I was asking why am I so obsessed with this story and all the videos? Your Holy Spirit inspired message moved me to confession and repentance for the inappropriate desire for all the details(like reading a tabloid magazine). I grieve about this. Thank you, Robby. I've thought that Mike had a genuine side and a side seduced into deep hidden sin from when it became apparent that the accusations are true. I know most people don't understand about walking in anointing and sincerity, and sin both at the same time, but you tell yourself you're repenting and it's behind you, and then you move forward as if it really is over. I know at least one person who knew Mike personally in the past, and I know another who was in meetings with a board member of IHOP KC. I think Mike was both what he appeared to be and what we see now. He had a firewall around him, who, (I think), believed in him so much that they were blind to what they saw, which also made it easy for Mike to be overcome by sin, and still sincerely believe in what he was doing at IHOP. I still do believe in the prayer room. I also understand too well the seduction of secret sin while wanting to walk with God. I just had to confess a shameful temptation to my pastor to keep it from growing to sin.

I’m so sorry this happened to you family 😞 I see that you are trying to be fair on all sides. Restoration is important, but I think we need to make a distinction between restoration to the *faith* and restoration to *ministry.* The Bible says elders should be above reproach to the outside world. Some of these leaders can never be there again, period. They can and should be restored to faith, but it sounds a lot like ministers are calling for their restoration to *ministry,* and I don’t know why that is important at all.

I think what I see people struggle with most is the word “Restoration” that voices of authority have used when expressing their personal hope for a fallen minister, but they do not define what they mean by that word. When people are severely affected by the sin, and “Restoration” is a commentator’s hope, what is the restoration unto? Any reasonable believer would agree that restoration to holy fear and intimate fellowship with the Most High God of the Bible should be celebrated. A call to restoration to ministry, though, seems to have a great need a high level of caution. We Christians need to be clear how we communicate opinions, directives, and prophetic utterances. We can run so long with likeminded brothers and sisters that assuming unity in how we think about things gets us in hot water. Let us be measured. Robby, I thank you for your heart for Jesus.

I didn’t know anything about this till I seen the caption. I’ve known of IHOP for many years. I really liked one of the musicians named Misty Edward’s. I was a new Christian back when Jimmy Swagger derailed. Jim and Tammy Baker’s demise was the “love of money.” I don’t recall anything about a setup. When they operated PTL it was about financial issues diverting millions of dollars of church money for personal use. I know he married a woman named Lori Graham who attended Phoenix First shortly after being released from prison. They rejoined back with PTL and sell items on a telecast. *TheHolySpirit wouldn’t allow me to watch them on TV back in 1985 being a new born-again believer…then when the scandal hit I knew why. It’s heartbreaking 💔 when those who are so much in the public’s eyes believing they’re of God only to fall short and cause others non-believers/believers to either lose faith or reject Christianity. We are all accountable. We are not above reproach. God is exposing tons and tons of things hidden in the dark.

The Roys Report has an article about Misty Edwards published early March 2024. Misty has defended Mike in his scandal…Come to find out she was in an affair 2014-2020 with another worship leader who was married initially. And she tried to discredit, slander and attack the man who exposed it who was just trying to get her help. She stayed with the man so long because he had blackmail on her-a recording of her confessing something she was involved in that she said she was deathly afraid it would get out. He was also manipulating her using her loneliness it seems. IHOPKC leadership knew and enabled them to not only keep up the bad behavior but kept her in leadership in Friends of the Bridegroom. And they kicked the whistleblower out of his IHOP apartment. Yet there is a ton of hard evidence corroborating his story including police video of a traffic stop where Misty and the man got DUIs late at night.

And it’s also imperative that people realize there seems too only be one side of the story at hand. The law does not work that way.. the statue of limitations if still relevant must have legal proof. No one knows what Mike has done to get right with his God. People rant and Rave but it’s not authentic. It’s obvious the Lord has used Mike Bickle for His purposes in the World. First time I've seen you're channel Robby, I think the story you shared about the corrupt leader and about your family are powerful. Just wondering where the assumption comes from that this man was ever qualified to be a spiritual leader, therefore why would it ever be the goal to restore such a one to ministry? We have a disqualification in character from 1 Tim. 3 and these standards weren't there from the offset it seems, in Mike's 20's when he was preying on a 14 year old as a 25 year old married pastor with children. Is this self righteous judgement we are supposed to withhold or is this just an observation that the standards of laying on of hands and seeking qualified men weren't upheld from early on? As Paul says in 1 Cor. 5, a man such as this should be cast out of the church so that satan destroys their flesh and their spirit can be saved in the end. In other words, these are clearly actions of a non-believer and to have any protocols in place to put a worthless shepherd back over the flock would be a misdiagnosis. We should definitely not have a standard (as is illustrated in 2 Cor. 2) where someone repents who has been kicked out of fellowship and we are unwilling to administer grace, this Paul says is giving satan an advantage and being ignorant of his devises. I think this is your point and it should be well taken, but it has nothing to do with putting or restoring someone into leadership over the flock of Christ, but accepting them as a believer showing godly sorrow and repentance. This whole system is creating narcissistic satanic self absorbed "leaders" who are not following Jesus, and how is it that we aren't seeing that it's exactly what Paul warned of in 2 Tim. chapters 3-4? One other thing is I always wonder where this guilt/shame teaching comes from. As Paul speaks to the Corinthians he speaks of shame several times in those letters, chapter 4, 6 and 15 of the first letter, saying both he wasn't writing to shame them, and in some places he was. This really comes to a head in chapter 7 of the second letter when he uses the term "godly sorrow" which was clearly a tool he was using to produce repentance in them which he says leads to salvation. How then is this portrayed as of the enemy when all through the scriptures, like Nineveh in Jonah's day, God was so clearly using guilt, shame, conviction, godly sorrow etc. to produce repentance and salvation. This, it seems, is just another teaching like satan used in the wilderness with Jesus, telling Him to cast Himself off the temple because the bible says so. Jesus saw clearly that satan was using a little bit of twisted scripture to contradict clear scripture. We shouldn't fall for these, but we should search the scriptures to see whether these things are true (Acts 17:11).

Eph 5 gives directions for how to deal with darkness. I honestly don’t understand this doctrine of don’t expose darkness in the church, when the whole of scripture says the opposite? Paul said to even call people out in front of others so they would fear. Put them out of the church and deliver them to satan. This is the redemptive prescription for unrepentant sin for all in the church. I hear so many Christian leaders in all denominations teaching this keep it hush doctrine and it’s confusing to me? It’s ok to tell the truth and when a leader sins with sexual immorality especially against a member of his congregation, it should be called out and dealt with in humility and respect openly. So, that everyone can learn that this is a real consequence if you want to be a leader. You blew it and there are real consequences. This is simple. I appreciate you Robby and your work big time. but I sense that same sentiment of keep it hush. I accept your warning of measures, but I in turn would caution you to not rework what scripture teaches on handling darkness in the church. No shame, just truth in love. God Bless! The world covers up, not the church.

Maybe I didn’t state this clearly in the episode, but I never endorse keeping this type of sin “hush”. I’m saying that I believe the first step is to come clean with people close to the situation who you can walk in the light with. If they deem it necessary to share public details, then to that. But typically all that needs to be said, is a general statement about the sin, and that they are being removed from leadership in accordance with scripture, and others warned not to follow that lead. Hope that helps

We would even confess to one another when we fell into masterbation and that God would free us, you know what, God has freed both of us from this, it happened at the same time, in the last probably 5 moths each of us fell back one time and we confessed it. Think about that, we battled with that our whole lives and now Jesus freed us. Sorry Robbie. You lost me at the 15 minute mark when, from the very beginning, You came at it from the perspective of "restoring the perpetrator." You did say you felt sorry for the victims. You should have heard their stories. He should "never" have a public platform again. His abuse was decades long with many, many victims. When a shepherd preys upon his sheep he's no longer a shepherd but a wolf. He has "not" repented! These women's lives were shattered. Let's hear the stories of the victims rather than how we should restore the man of God. This may sound like I'm angry Robbie. I'm truly not, just frustrated. He should be restored but never to a public platform again and all victims should even be restored in a financial way, as his ministry brought in millions of dollars, some of which he used to house these women. Money that had been given from his faithful flock was used for him to perpetrate this harm to the women. Not consensual. I'm sure your intentions are right and good Robbie but it's always good to research and educate yourself before you speak on a public platform.

With few happy exceptions, marriages grow cold. The honeymoon eventually ends. Frustration builds up to the point you can't sleep, and some of your casual female acquaintances become a tormenting obsession. The only thing in the whole universe that is more powerful than a man's urge to copulate is the strength that is found in Daddy-child intimacy with God. Very few of us ever experience that depth in the Holy Spirit; but until we do, we cannot resist that burning desire in our flesh. Most often we have to experience the anguish of the bitter fruits of what we've done before we come to the point of yielding to the will of God rather than yielding to our flesh. It NEVER becomes easy.

I have no desire to judge people. Yet as much as I believe Robby is a genuine follower of Jesus, how can we call someone a Christian if they were involved with serial adultery? I was in the ministry for 3.5 years in the 1990's and was totally addicted to porn. When I repented I was exposed and had to face my own guilt, shame and humility. I went through a process of restoration and have been living in freedom from lust and porn since August of 1997. I have spoken with many men struggling with lust, porn adultery etc. Most of whom are never restored properly or continue to "fall" into the same sin over and over. IF we believe the only way to tell if someone is a true disciple of Jesus is the fruit of the Holy Spirit produced from their lives then how do we explain or call someone a Christian who over time has continued to give into the same sin over and over. Again I have no desire to judge, I want to see men live in radical freedom because Jesus did it for me. I have been married and faithful to my wife for the last 27 years. I am so grateful. Brokenness has never left my life but live in wholeness now. I know the Father's genuine love and live for Jesus. I am so concerned about men not really being saved in the first place or if they do get saved and continue to backslide into these type of sins often the church makes excuses by leaning into the grace of God. God is not only a loving savior but will one day be a severe judge. The true amazing grace of God must not be trampled upon. Jesus paid a horrible price for us. Thank you Robby for sharing your heart and experiences. Seeing and hearing the details of your life and how you live for Jesus now is a blessing.

what seems to me at the core of strongholds at the heart of ihop is "idolatry"... many were seeking a platform and name for themselves which blinded many to the strongholds in Mikes life.. as he was made an idol in many peoples hearts.. it also appears MB fed on the idol and image he had curated in public ministry. When idolatry is such a stronghold every evil spirit can follow in behind uncontested. The prophetic movement was hijacked by this and prophetic gifts were used to bolster these strongholds. An older man garnering attention from younger women is intrinsically tied in with this stronghold of idolatry. So many churches today are filled with people looking for some exposure on 'the stage' to be seen by men and demonstrate their gifts.. IHOP provided this with a 24/7 stage instead of 2hrs a week like most churches.. Jesus rebuked the pharisees for these 'public' displays and said go pray in secret.. the house of prayer God is building will be much more hidden and less produced.

The perpetrator goes out and gets a job maybe a job and a part-time job they go get medicaid and food stamps like the rest of the people in this country who have fallen on very desperate times then he can ask supporters for gifts or money The wife gets a job if the kids are old enough to be watched by other family members or people close to the family it can be done ask a lot of people in America who have to live this way but oh God forbid the perpetrator will have to humble himself and live beyond what he has been accustomed to. Go to food banks, Many of them will only allow you to come once a month but if you go 24 of them and keep track of it you can get food every week. Go to welfare and get help with utilities go to catholic charities and other church organizations or local organizations that help with utilities on a monthly basis. But then the perpetrator would have to humble himself wouldn't he or she. Sell your car and get a cheaper 1 maybe 10 years old in decent condition a Toyota. Buy clothes in thrift stores. Ask your friends and family to invite you to dinner. You could probably get an invitation every night of the week from different friends or family. But then you'd have to humble yourself.

So appreciate your wisdom on this! Plus the vulnerability of what you have seen over the years in ministry.

Psalm 58 :3 3The wicked are estranged from the womb; They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies. 4Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; They are like the deaf cobra that stops its ear, 5Which will not heed the voice of charmers, Charming ever so skillfully.

Wise counsel. There is a bigger picture, the enemy gets his mileage to have the world judge the body of Christ when men and women of God fall. The Chinese here who don’t know Christ would ask me why do you Christians have so many different churches and you have one Jesus? So much “church hurt” , division, lack of love , difference of doctrine, Jesus told us people would know us “ by our love one to another”. Do we really ?

Very honest heart sharing lessons . Thanks. Unless you have experienced what it is like to be judged falsely as well as truthfully it is easier to gossip, judge and condemn. Jesus is always there to receive and forgive. People unfortunately don’t. As long as we live in a broken world with broken people we will get scars. “ he that is without sin cast the first stone”.
