What I find interesting is that, all over the internet, I only see women talking about getting married and some seemingly so desperate. Conversely, I don't see men doing the same thing. There's nothing wrong with desiring marriage but, many women have made getting married an idol. Yet, the divorce rate among "Christians" is as high as non-Christians. So, getting married isn't fixing the fix that's so desperately needed.
My husband found me on Christian Mingle. We talked on the phone one time about what we believe, church, worship. All our foundation beliefs, what we stand on, etc. After that 3 hour phone call, He took me to get breakfast, to a museum, and to dinner. My husband knew on the 1st date he wanted to marry me. It took me a little longer. We got married in the pastors office 3 months later (after premarital counseling of course). Then because my father wanted to walk me down the isle. We had a wedding 5 month later. All this happen in 2017. God is so good.
I love this! What bothers me though, is when women get shamed for being on online dating websites. I keep getting the same message from the Lord that everyone's journey or dating season will look different. Holy Spirit is in the business of helping us. We just need to trust God during the process.
I met my husband serving in a homeless ministry, we served together 9 months before we went on a date & even then we really didn't call it a date. But 6 months later we were engaged & married 3 months after that. May 2 will be 5 yrs, God is good!!
Stay in prayer while being content & single & patiently wait on GOD for him. Women ARE NOT to look for a man. Prov 18:22, when a man finds a wife etc. We as believers know this. GOD knows when you're ready & HIS timing is Best. GOD BLESS
And women we must stop saying, how are we going to find a husband? God did not intend us to find him. That man will find us when the time us right. In the meantime you focus on the purpose and will that God have for you. Focus on seeking therapy/counseling. So that you can heal. Start a new career, travel if you are able to, read books, learn how to play an instrument, start a new career, and so on and so forth. There is a time and season for everything.
@ladennayoung Thank you so much for saying this. I agree 100% Ppl keep saying my husband isnt going to fall from the sky, i need to work to get him. Im not a very forward person, i believe in a man taking that role. The Lord works in mysterious ways. I know He can make the impossible possible!!! I just keep working on myself and keep believing and keep building a stronger relationship with the Lord.
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever more. Amen. If God was able to bring two people together before television, telephones, dating sites, the internet, and so on and so forth. He can still unite/connect us to one that He have for us in His time. We have to work on being patient and presentable. When I say presentable, I'm not just saying in our physical appearance. We must let God continue to work on our soul and spirit in Jesus name. Amen.
I think this is just so good! I always tell ladies: focus on the calling on your life so God can develop you not just for His mission in your life but also so you can be equipped to assist your partner. When its time the right man will find you: the how is not up to you God will do it. Also love how Heather described submission-getting under the right man's mission-love it!
Long story short my cousin suggested to try POF, (I don’t do online dating but gave it try), only gave 24hours on app. Last 30mins. A gentleMAN challenged me (vice versa) ... 1year later. Joyfully married! Ps. Born and raised Pastors daughter in loving Christian (born again) home. God is so good!
I am christian but this talk is rubbing me the wrong way. It’s not that simple and it’s not the same “recipe” for everyone. Some do all the “right” things and it just doesn’t happen. You should have included someone like Lisa Harper to give your talk more variety and depth.
I totally agree let’s be realistic check the stats... how many men are in church? How many men are ready, what about their own desires etc. She has boundaries and that worked for her but there are sooo many that cannot testify to this? Let’s be honest this needs to be an honest talk

I’m 61! And have asked GOD forever for my Boaz. At some point frustration sets in. Faith is knowing that has provided. A posture of waiting and staying busy in GOD will keep me steady until GOD sends my mate to me.

I've been praying for a wife since I was 15 years old. I've read many Christian books about relationship and was always involved in church. Now I am 57, still single and with no friends. Because my family was not Christian, I always prayed for a woman that had a good Christian family that could embrace me. I've met a few Christian women in my life, but I never had a good connection with them. I went to church so many times hoping that that day I would meet someone. It has been 42 years of a constant search, prayer, and even fasting. I even made a vision board with a photoshop of me getting married and I bought a ring that I wear when I am praying as a sign of faith. I really don't know what else I can do.

I use to be on online dating site for years it seem. Met a total of three men. I had to be honest with myself cause I was so suspicious of people online. Had to build my courage up each time before meeting the three I did meet. One is still in my life...we're just friends and I feel like there's a connection deeper than the eye see. We live in different states so nothing ever came of it. He's in military and was stationed in my town, that's when I met him. So yeah no more online dating for me.
@Dye Dye I know exactly what you mean. The ones I did meet...two didn't want a relationship and one wanted to marry me right off. But I wasn't on the same page as him. As in I want love, but I'm not jumping into marriage with any man. I hope for both of us that someone who our souls love will be in our lives. I'm remaining hopeful, but it do get hard at times.
@Dye Dye oh I don't mind you asking🙂. I was on plentyoffish. I did notice on there that men lie about their age and about what they're looking for. There were also some nice guys to chat with on there. But it ended there with me cause once again we just didn't want the same things. I also signed up for eharmony or either match (free version). I couldn't bring myself to pay for membership cause I was too scared to meet anyone anyway. So that's when I realized online wasn't for me.

Intentionally being single, not looking , and focusing on God and seeking him is enough in my opinion. I dont even pray about it much unless im already praying about stuff and the Holy Spirit leads me there. The most perverted man I ever met online on Christian mingle. He was a so called Christians motivational speaker, singer writer and singer with a popular worship song on RU-vid. I won't name names but, I will say he sent me a video without any printing from me, of something highly inappropriate. I was shocked and never spoke to him again. While a teenager my pastor slipped his hand in my shirt. Some of the worst men are in church , I wish it weren't true but it's been my expireriance . I have sworn off men for the past 11 yrs bc of my daughter, I just can't trust it and chance her childhood. Men don't realize the damage they do to us with these actions it's hard not to be resentful
yaya mama I don’t understand. Sworn off men, yet you have a daughter with a man I assume or is she adopted? I’m so sorry about the experience with certain men in church. But not everyone are born again or renewed, they just do church attendance and church work. Let God’s love & grace melt your heart as he guides you to trust again.

Yes and no-A missionary called to serve in Mozambique and a Christian NBA basketball player based in CA has the same general mission but would have a lot of difficulty fulfilling their unique calls in a marriage union. It’s essential to make sure both purposes are aligned & that their mission-fields are at least compatible.
True everyone is called to spread the gospel but we all have different purposes, visions, gifts, and callings. We are the body of christ and they are different things we do (1 corn 12:12-31). Some people are called to specific areas of influence, there are 7 mountains of influence (family, education, religion, media, entertainment, government, and business). Whoever you marry you both should be working under the same mission God has for your life. For me I am called to be a counselor and preacher (youth pastor or pastors wife). I know the guy I'm suppose to marry has a calling on his life to preach and be a pastor. I wouldn't be with someone who is called to be in government. This would be contradictory to what God wants me to do. A guy whose called to government might find a wife that is passionate about it. Moreover, I'm not saying you and your husband will do the same thing, they could be similar yet different areas but God is still bringing you together to impact the world in a certain way. Yes we are all called to spread the gospel wherever we go but we all have different callings on our lives in different areas. That's why it's good to seek God and get clarity to know your purpose so when you met your husband I'll know cause your purposes align. But also asking God if this is the one you're suppose to marry because the devil will send counterfeits. A good book about purpose is "The principality and power of vision" by Myles Munroe. I also love the book and sermon series "Relationship goals" by Michael Todd. If your looking for more advice on singleness and relationships I love listening to Allison Rowe and The Greens. Another good book is "Waiting and Dating" by Myles Munroe.

I have a best friend. We do everything couples do. He doesn’t talk to other females. We’re far from perfect, but we know God. We know what God doesn’t like and what he expects from us. Every time we’re together it’s like he’ll say something about a business plan and I’m like hmmm I had that thought two weeks ago. It’s so confusing. Idk what we are or if we’ll ever be. I do know whoever his future wife is, he will be an amazing husband. He shows me he likes me and cares alot about me. He never really says much though. He literally breaks his neck for me. But it confuses me because he doesn’t say hey I like you.
First of all, we know the Bible clearly states that He that findeth a wife. Therefore, single ladies do not search. Men are the hunters by nature. You don't have to go looking. You just have to make sure that you are ready to be found! So many of us want the wedding. However, are you ready for the marriage. The wedding is just a one day maybe two (depending upon culture) event. After the wedding, comes work. You have to work at sustaining the marriage. You have to pray, you have to fast (in agreement with spouse), you have to sacrifice your needs/wants for his. You have to be willing to support God's plan/vision for your lives. You are going to have to submit even though you don't see things his way. You are going to have to put in the work. Too many people have a misconception (I did too) of what a Godly marriage is and looks like. When I did the research around 20s, I was like "Oh no, I am so not ready for all that". It is not all glitz and glamor. Your body is no longer your own. So it's not like " oh, I am tired or have a headache excuse" every night or every other night or day whatever. That is not going to work. The children come, then you have to factor all that in. God, hubby, children, church, job (maybe), cleaning the home, cooking, etc. All that is work. And you can not bombard him as soon as he steps in the door. I don't know why some of you all do that. Just like you need some me time, he does too especially after he has gotten off work. You don't know what he had to deal with on the job. Think of it as decompressing time. Some men needs half hour or hour. Let him have his man time to switch it off. Then when he is ready, you all can eat and talk about the events of the day. Some of us do too much because you don't know. That's why teaching is so important. You have to know how to run your household. And please stop trying to run your household like your best friend. Her husband is NOT your husband. Each man is different, has different needs, etc. Don't have people in your business. Don't have your girlfriend at your house with your husband when you are not there. If you have to run to the store, she is going with you or you stay yourself at home and go another day. Know where your husband is especially when female company is around. If she us taking too long in the bathroom, go check on her and see if she is alright. It's not that you don't trust him or her, you don't want anyone to be lead (led) into temptation. Don't even give the devil a slither of a chance to think he can weasel in. You're on the same team, so don't hoard the ball. You cover so he can take the shot. If he can't and you are open, then he'll pass the ball to you. Usually God gives the man the vision, we are to figure or help figure out how to make it work. We are to support. Now, I am not saying that we don't have dreams and things but everything has its place and time. And if your husband tells you something in private time, Do Not Go BLABBING Your Mouth to your girlfriends. Some of you all talk way too much about the wrong thing. Your girlfriends have no business knowing anything about your husband business that he has shared with you. If he wanted her to know, I am pretty sure he would have called her himself and told her what he has told you. I don't know why I am writing all this stuff. I am not teaching a class. Sorry... I guess I just had to let it out. Feel free not to read! Sorry for the overkill! Just a few pet peeves that may save a marriage or help at least. I'm just saying..... Love ya!! Take a marriage counseling class before you all go getting married. Talk to the couples that has been married for 30, 40, 50 years.
