Phillip Yun everey other taekwondo school in my province is teaching modern taekwondo sparring now and our instructors are still old school , so I don't have a coach or anyone to teach me modern / front leg / head contact etc.. sparring , any advice ?
I was taking taekwondo for 4 years, but I did not intend to use that sport to go to the Olympics. However, I did some TKD sparring, and I know some Korean words regarding this art. "Sijak!" means "begin". "Baro" means stop. "Gam Jeon" is a penalty or warning. All bouts focus on the "Gibon Kyorugi" (free sparring) mentality, and the "hangul" - is PPE for the chest (chest protector) during the TKD fights.
So for the Bahamas, we can only compete @ the Olympics is by invitation. Seems more difficult now. Our Federation didn't explain this to us. They made it sound so easy, selling dreams!
Master Decker Great question! Check out 8:50 in the video and you'll see that it says NOC can send athletes to the continental qualifiers if they did not meet the minimum of 2 female and 2 male athletes via olympic ranking method. If only 3 females qualified via top 6, the NOC will be able to send 2 male athletes to the continental qualifiers.
So will we be seeing a new video commenting on the recently released USAT Olympic Selection procedure? www.teamusa.org/USA-Taekwondo/Features/2015/August/25/2016-Olympic-Selection-Procedures-Announced
