To avoid wasting coconuts, Do not shed the raw coconut. Craft a coconut flask and drink it, You can save the empty flasks to craft other consumables later.
I’ve played before, but I just started a new game on PS4 and did the tutorial for the first time. I leaned about making “piles” and found a glitch where you can make a pile of “coconut drinks.” Then when you take one out you can drink it, put the “empty coconut drink” back in the pile and keep doing that forever and ever. It just keeps refilling them. Weird.
My 1st time playing this..I died on day 2...from a crab, not a king crab..just a regular tiny one. Lol. I couldn't figure out how to either kill it or capture it and it kept pinching me and I died lol.
First time I played I stepped on one of those purple things and got poisoned but I didn’t know about the pipi plants so I just slowly died lol had to do some google searches after
wow the most important tip which i realized was you can refill the water still with fibrous wow and here i waited think it refilled on its own lol thank you so much
Well it kinda does, when it rains it will add water to the still. But it is certainly not sustainable to rely on the rain alone, definitely need to add leaves or fronds for a sustainable amount of water
Before you build the water still, you need to build a coconit flask. The coconut flask is good for 1 drink(they can be refilled at the still) and doesn't count as a coconut. So, use it before you build the still
Been wanting this game for a while, luckily it became free on PS+ for the month of May, so keen to jump in! I'll be referring to your videos for help, they look really informative and helpful!
I remember when it came out i thought about ir but now its free and man what a love hate relationship lol this game is hard and a learning process but thats what kept me hooked even after shutting it off/ multiple new saves Im 18 days surviving now with 1 main base and 1 secondary base and im loving it lol
@@Bleeper852 dude i got u to kill the boars bait them to u then get on a rock where they cant get to you poke that fucker with a spear till he dies and the crabs same thing but use a fish hook/spear i killed my first boar last night on my 3rd island supply run and man it feels good to finally get some pay back lmaoooo them sharks are next bastards always flipping my raft
I killed a goblin shark on like my 20th day. Found one (or it found me) pretty quick. Maybe it's because I was hopping from island to island? I'm on day 106 and have yet to kill a whale shark. Only saw one following my raft in the middle of the ocean
Just watched this a year on as I've finally got around to playing this game. It is really nice to hear a gamer so clearly and precise while describing what to do. For this you have a new subscriber. Great job 👍
You saved me, thank you, I've been on a island for 2 days and that was my first time playing and I made a new world and I have 4 hours on it and I realised just now that the palm tree stop regrowing coconuts, and I was just waiting to die put you helped me with the rations so now I just gotta travel to a new island and bring a few coconuts back to make a water still.
Tip for you mate, it's a year late like, if you grab 4 coconuts and drink 2, you can make a coconut pile, the game doesn't actually know which are empty or full in that pile so a water still is only needed for farming in honesty
I used to have one single complaint about this game: it took too long to load. But in this last update it seems they even fixed that and now there is not one single thing about this game I can complain about. GOOD JOB BEAM TEAM, your game is a masterpiece!
In the early days of the early access days their used to be a pot you could find in some of the wrecks that you could place over a fire, and boil salt water and get fresh water. Kind of wish that method didn’t get cut from the game. The still is a good addition. It was annoying at first but, once you can grow Yucca trees and gain a consistent source of fiber its fine. Kind of wish more Survivalcraft games would go The Stranded Deep route. The Forest and Green Hell are great but, I like the idea of having to survive against the elements and dangerous animals without the zombies or cannibals. Games that are basically Man vs Wild + Plus base building are fun.
On empty drinkable coconut, you can toss them really high and it would split up. You dont have to hit anything as gravity help us. But it doesnt work on normal coconut
Idk if this tip works anywhere else but... Bonus tip: Get 5x coconut, Drop them on the ground and hit them with a spear to make 5x coconut drinks, Pick them up and place a PILE of 5x Coconut drinks. Take 4x coconut drinks from the pile leaving only a 1x pile of coconut drink. Using the 2-10 method drink the 4x coconut drinks. You now have 4x empty coconut drinks, Place them back on the 1x coconut drink pile and VIOLA! The 4x empty coconut drinks have been refilled. 2 buckets of water in a 4x4 hole.
You are a lifesaver! I can't believe that worked I was dying of thirst and didn't have the recipe or materials for a still or anything else. How did you figure this out?
@@editazilinskyte3681 You shouldn't ever be reliant on coconuts to survive in this game, coconuts are far more valuable being turned into flasks than being used for food/water (although if you turn them into flasks you still get 1 serving of water, and flask water doesn't count toward the coconut diarrhea) Here's a task order that will allow to get your still and a basic camp with essentials up and running day One. First tip though is unless you need to heal or are planning doing something risky your food and hydration levels don't need to be full so just keep them above 1-2 bars until you have a steady supply of food and water meaning you probably only need to eat/drink once in the first 24hours. Anyway here is the task order once you've got to shore. Note that at some point your character will say they need to cool down, ignore this you won't get sunstroke on day 1 just keep working on setting up your base. Collect 1 stone, 1 stick Make stone tool collect 4 fibrouse leaves make lashing make knife Now pick a direction to work and stick with it i.e clockwise/anticlockwise Working around the island collect every stick, rock, palm sapling and cloth, (don't worry so much about the middle of island for now) I use the life raft to mark where I started so I know when I've completed one circle of the island As you go kill and skin any crabs you come across you ideally want to get 6 crabs but don't go out your way too much to get them If you run out of room in your inventory decide where you plan on setting up camp and dump everything in the one spot. You don't need to be too picky about base location but try to find an area that has none of those purple stingy things about either on land or in the sea you'll thank me later when you are coming back to land at night and want to know where's safe in the dark. When you've gathered every stone stick and fibrous leave make an axe (2 stone tools, a lashing and a stick) Now gather the fibrous leaves from the Yucca trees in the centre of the island remember to grab the yucca fruit from the tree and gather all the sticks, stones and palm saplings that are in the centre Chop down two palm trees look for the biggest ones on the island, collect the coconuts but don't use them, drag the trees to where you are setting up camp to save you having to make multiple trips when chopping them up. Chop the two trees into sticks and frond leaves. You now should have everything you need for the first day/night either in your inventory or lying at the drop of point where you plan to make your base. Now make your shelter (1 lashing, 4 fronds 3 sticks) Make a campfire (4 sticks) Make a fire pit (3 rocks and you need to be facing the campfire)) Make a coconut flask (1 lashing 1 green coconut) Make Kindling (2 sticks) You will now have the crafting level to build the smoker and water still Build a smoker (1 cloth, 1 lashing 3 sticks and you need to be facing the fire pit) Place all of the crabs you've collected (hopefully you have 6) on the smoker and fire and light the fire switch the fire of once everything on the smoker is smoked, eat the crab that was on the fire as it will spoil, keep the smoked ones on the smoker for now as they last indefinitely. Build your water still (1 coconut flask, 1 frond 1 lashing 1 cloth 3 rocks) Use the excess fronds from the palm trees to fill your water still Woolah, you now have a basic camp set up and is easily accomplished day 1. Day 2-3 spend fishing/hunting seagulls and looting shipwrecks that you can swim to and minimize your water intake until the palm saplings/yucca trees respawn, you'll now have enough food and water to sustain yourself but as soon as you can build a farm plot and plant the yucca fruit that way you aren't having to balance water and lashing making.
@@24magiccarrot you say this but if I have 12 coconuts and only need 2 to drink as long as I keep 3 in the pile so when I take two ones left, the two refill, it's an entirely coding related exploit and thus a very good thing to rely on... water stills are just for farming
@@24magiccarrot your method wastes a hell of a lot of my time and effort on something I could of fixed via 3 coconuts and making spears to kill the local sharks... a smoker, fine its almost essential... unless you can scale your islands mountain if you can scale that seagull eggs respawn every 12 hours in game thus infinite food also.
Rain will fill your water stills too on storms. It is a fun game! I wish on multiple players they could join quick. Also i wish in the future they add giant sea clams, lobsters, shrimp. Or make a new boss a giant lobster!! The giant clam shells could be used for collecting rain water, wash basins. And if we had iron ore? Break the shells for lime. In the smelting. In multiple players make 3 4 water catching stills. So you both have plenty.
i miss the days when there used to be a bucket in the game. easy water with rain that way. or the early days of distilling water.... ( sigh ) oh well. I may try to play again, but last time, it went wonky on me for loading, like green lines of the 70's bad.
Console updates will still be coming.. they are still focusing on pc right now with update 78.00 .. they usually jump back and forth between em..at least they have in the past.
@@GranddaddyGamer Intresting! Thanks for information. Game has been so laggy on xbox one sometimes but i still like it hope they just fix some of the bugs
First time I played it I got killed by a boar, now on my second run I was poisoned and got lucky enough to find pipi, been living like a king since, got a big hut built, lots of containers, shelter and water stills on all the islands I visited, just trying to find all the bosses now! Update: Killed all the bosses and left the Pacifica, my raft disappeared even though it was anchored and halfway on land, so I started a new game!
im trying to play the game and watch you video for help but your talking on and on about your friend to then finally tell me what to do was so helpfull and clearly the best video even know a monkey playing with a fork was more helpful
Never knew rations filled the water bar. I always woke up, filled my water bar by fruit, coconut, or water bar and if I had a big day ahead of me and didn't want to waste time to go hunting or fishing I'd eat a can of pork and beans or some rations. This will save me some time
Tip for free endless water, collect 2 coconuts, remove the husks and drink them no faster than described at the start of this video. When both are empty, WITH 1 OF THE EMPTY COCONUTS IN HAND, hold R1 on ps5 and make a stack of coconuts, once they're on the ground press L1 again and pick them both up, they're magically full of water again.
The first and so far only shark I've killed is a goblin shark. But the most persistent and annoying ones so far have been the hammerhead and I think a bull shark.
You'll find there's usually a ledge on the island sharks won't pass, all sharks develop a repetitive swimming pattern whilst aggro on you if you're in that ledge spot they can't hit you thus making them a cakewalk, with a speargun I killed 4 around my second island in one daylight cycle using this method, with spears it takes longer.
I'm at day nine still on my starter island with a coop teammate and we have a farm water tent and 2 campfire and nearly done with our raft to travel for resources
Another way to get water is to make flask. Fresh coconut + lashing -> coconut flask (level 1 crafting). It's filled with water so it doesn't count towards diarrhea. It is costly but empty flasks can be used in the future for water stills or carrying water.
I wouldn't say it's costly cause coconut flasks are invaluable for making medical supplies. Coconuts are much more valuable being turned into flasks than they are for food or hydration. Once you know what you are doing food and water by other means isn't really an issue after the first day.
@@24magiccarrot coconuts can be as vital to other things as you want if you keep 3 in a chest for the next island you have an infinite water supply however and with eggs on scaleable mountains that respawn every 12 ingame hours gives infinite food and water...
Make a stack of 10 drinkable coconuts. Retract 2 drink them place them back in. Retract 2 more out wait 10 seconds and drink 2 more. Rinse and repeat until hydrated. Same can be done when eating coconuts
I just started yesterday. I'm so glad Ive stumbled on these tips. I managed to go for 7 days withy food and water on 2 bars from empty but my health kept declining until I died. Reloaded after finding out needed to have good and water 1 bar from full to start regaining HP. Did not know I could refill the water still. Can I also refill the fireplace?
One tip is once you fill your water still the first time then you only put in what you drink so if you take 2 drinks then put in 2 and you will not waste resources
One tip I'd give is other than to complete the tutorial there really is no need to drink a coconut at all. Unless you need to heal or are planning on doing something risky there really isn't any need to keep your food and hydration levels full, so for the first 2-3 days just keep your food and hydration above 2 bars which gives you plenty time to get your water still up an running with enough fibrous leaves to keep it going, and for the first few refills use fronds to fill the water still. If you must eat/drink for health reasons use the rations in your life-raft to buy you extra time
I can’t remember which one it is but you can also fill a empty coconut or empty coconut flask with water from a water still collector and get one serving of water from it to carry around
Not gonna lie. Died on day 3 due to dehydration from diarrhea. Game said drink coconuts for water, I said that's a terrible idea, it'll give me diarrhea and dehydrate me even faster. Go figure I was right
If you have a stash of coconuts you can drink them, and re-stash them back in in when empty, and they will fill up again. Endless supply of coconut water
i build up to 24 water stills and let the rain fill them never run out of water even for my farms never have to fill with fiber leaves just let them fill up with rain water so there is 6 ways to get water i have 8 farm plots i even stock pile water in clay jugs
So I had a issue...early on in the game I found the ship with the plane...I collected the gyrocopter part and put them on my raft in storage boxes..on my way back to my island I actually fell off the raft.....bye bye raft.....so I swam back to the island and made another raft....to go look for my nice fully equipped raft but unfortunately I couldn't find it so I lost the lot.. not realised that when I went to make the gyro I was missing the parts I need....I had to start the game from scratch.....not happy. I was 68 days in.
That has happened to me before… lost my raft and all my stuff. Since I play like a Gypsy I didn’t have a base. I was not happy to say the least. Did you save your game AFTER you lost your raft?
I didn't knew u can refill water stills so i would just wait untill it rained and had to go to other islands to get coconut cuz my island had ran out of them😂
My raft just completely dissapeared from the map. I was stranded by the way out and now have to restart this stinks. That's after I fixed the boat and put the motor on the front. Saved the game then it dissapeared after I turned the game back on today.
I'm not sure if this is a thing. But I noticed I put a water still in a shaded area in the trees vs on the beach it seems I have to fill it less with plants. Maybe I'm trippin but I just started and I got to another island had the idea. Dunno if skills make them work better or what.
It's good and bad advice. First, it's totally true, Fibrous Leaves are replenishable, but lashing is needed so often you probably shouldn't discount Palm Leaves. Outside of making the Still and the Shelter, they have no use at all.
@@Majestichaaland Technically, yes. And in most cases, that's true. Unless you have a large amount of fronds from getting lumber. The fronds are otherwise useless, might as well use them.
I can't find anywhere else to post this question and hope to get an answer. I just switched to playing on PC and I'm still getting used to the controls. Trust me there are only a couple things I miss about the console version and that includes hotkeys taking items out of your inventory slots allowing you to carry more and the other which is seriously killing me. Does anyone know if it's possible to drop items from the inventory menu? I've pressed Q nothing happens I think right now I have to actually put the item into my hand then drop it. This isn't a game changer but definitely was convenient on the console to not have to grab everything you want to drop...
@@GranddaddyGamer I couldn't get it to drop from the menu screen. Try setting the mouse wheel as the drop item key....and you're welcome you can thank me later. DO NOT try to set a mouse button as the inventory menu key. For one the only button you can use to close the menu is the TAB. Deleting that option from the inputs and trying to use a mouse key to open and close the inventory(Radial menu toggle has to be on), gets you stuck in the inventory menu forever, and your character will be stuck on the island with his head in his backpack, slowly dehydrating until he is dead, no coconuts will save him, you just have to close the game and restart or walk into the ocean.
@@GranddaddyGamer I asked Reddit and someone finally gave the answer. If you hold the RMB you can drop items from the inventory without holding the item. Someone on Reddit that had just learned the Q dropped item 😂 Just taught tons of people to press and hold RMB
w h a t I spent so long In my world dying over and over again bc there was no more coconuts and rain never came in the end I ended up starting a new one WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY YSEFUL TO KNOW YOU CAN REFILL IT WITH PALM FRONDs 💀💀💀
Recently started playing on the newest version of the PS4 build and I picked up a "Yucca Fruit." I feel that this is a bug. It can't be eaten or interacted with (it appears as modified yucca foliage). Curious.
@@ALAPINO make sure to keep the planters topped up with water too or they will die off, use corrugated or plank planters to hold more water, when it rains they fill up for free also, you can grow pipi too for unlimited antidotes, hunt lion fish for shark repellent too!
No... but you can put a crap ton of water on your raft! I did lol. After this recent update the crates have 5 inventory slots instead of only 3, and I filled one full with the clay jars. That’s 100 servings of water lol.
The spf Isn't going down on ps4 bleeds fast do you have aloe vera on? If you drink 2 coconut wait 10 secs you can drink another however better method 2 stock coconut then add rope to a unchucked coconut then magical turns into water so easy
@@GranddaddyGamer I'm to the point where I either build a foundation and ramp, or I don't go up. I just found this game on sale and I love it, I don't even care to finish, I just want to relax in my abode on the beach drinking coconuts. I turned off the poison animals and put it on easy mode.
are we not talking about the infinite coconut water exploit if you drink all your coconut water and have a bunch of empty coconuts then stack them rather than cutting them open in a crafted pile and the water refills when you take a coconut out of the pile ive not seen a single tip for this in any videos i cant be the only one who knows about this (this is on ps4 not sure if it universal)
@@GranddaddyGamer oh no worries still taught me something i didn't know so im not dogging you i was merely pointing out that barely anyone is talking about it that's all no worries i wouldn't expect you to make a whole new video over 1 exploit that like you said may be patched out in the future
Coconut meat isn't coconut milk. Why shouldn't they act differently? That's also true to life. It's referenced in the movie Cast Away - the survivor learns the hard way: coconut is a laxative.
