How do you know when someone doesn't like you as much as you like them? 

This video is absolutely spot on. There comes a time to be objective and realize that if it's not there, it's not there. If you continue to pursue someone who doesn't show the same interest, you are robbing yourself of the opportunity to meet someone whom might be a better match for you. In any case, don't sacrifice your dignity because trying harder doesn't always get the results you want, it may even make you look very foolish, and no one wants that. One technique to try, is to pretend you are observing someone else's interaction's, that you have no vested interest in the outcome of, would you think there is a mutual attraction based on what you are observing, or not. But in the end, be a good sport, continue to be polite and friendly, but definitely take the blinders off and keep your options open, who knows, maybe it's for the best.

Why do I always find myself in these situations. I should just accept the fact that i am not meant to have a friend or friends and that being alone is the only way I will exist. Every time I try to make friends I end up being so hurt and anxious, no one likes me back or wants to make an effort so I end up feeling hurt, used, and tossed aside. After this current friendship end (basically on its way out) I’m just going to avoid people all together, it hurts too much each time to go through it again and again.

Well, this is exactly what I'm currently paranoid about... Girls don't exactly talk to me much generally speaking, so I'm likely to overreact when someone does. While the girl I'm interested in HAS initiated conversations, it hasn't been on many occasions so far. But then again we're usually in a work environment where it's not very easy for one to take place for long. I'm not sure how *often* I should be looking for them to make a first move before I should conclude they might like me.

This advice is simple but rings true. Anytime I've tried too hard to make friends, it hasn't worked out.

My adult, estranged niece came into my life after my brother recently died (we had a falling out 18 years ago, and he wouldn't let me see her). She repeatedly hugged me, told me she loved me, and wanted me in her life. We got together a few times, and had a wonderful Christmas, and then I heard nothing from her for 5 months. She didn't email me, call, or respond to me on FB. I was crushed. She finally came over, acted somewhat aloof, and claimed she'd been too busy to contact me, working 80 hours a week. I don't buy it as she frequently posted on Facebook, including photos of other people she'd visited. Hi, thank you for this video. What about if you want to arrange a meet up with a friend you went to school with? I am always the one in the friendship trying arrange a catch up after a good number of years - even though we live in the same town. Each time I ask my friend when are you free for a catch up? She always says "I don't know what I'm doing" or "Sorry i'm busy". But she's not busy because all she does all day is watch horror movies and post about them on facebook and she is unemployed. She said she was too busy to meet up with me on that particular day....busy doing what? Watching movies all day does not qualify as "busy". A full time job does. I have a problem..there's a guy I like.. He is very nice, innocent and outgoing. At the beginning I often started the conversations. After some time he regularly responded to my Whats App stories. He invited me two times to zoom meeting, one time with his sister the other time with his best friend.. and he invites me to group hang outs on zoom for playing games. On any other guy I would have suspected interest but with him I'm not sure don't want to believe it's true. what if I'm wrong? Because I saw that he treats all the girls so nice like me. His friends got too involved and I backed away and felt very hurt from them not actually knowing me, which to them thinking I wasn't interested, but have so many personal problems I'm dealing with and I'm working when they are bothering me so much. They work across from my building and this guy who I have liked for months likes me too and has been trying to approach me for the past month now and his friends get so upset and frustrated along with him that they start to say all these awful things about me thats not even true! They never ask him how I am doing, but get ideas in their heads since I'm guarded with myself as a 5'2 woman who has to work and I have a time limit now at my job. My supervisor has been upset with me and I've been under a lot of stress from them working faster. Now, they are thinking I'm too young for him and got this idea after he stood there near my building smiling and his friend calling me cute trying to let me know he's into me, but I felt so hurt by his friends so much that I couldn't trust him after that. All happening right before Christmas too and it just ruined my entire week from his frustrations and assumptions about me. I thought by now he would at least say hi to me after all this time, but is too nervous and I have smiled at him and everything, but got to the point of being too drained emotionally from stress that I don't smile anymore when I come into work. My friends think I need to take a break from him. The building that I clean across from them will be closed for a week, so that will help me settle my stress and nerves even though I will miss him, but if he wants to approach me again, I hope it will be in a better more relaxed way. Well I talked to that girl on phone because I was wondering where she was, because she wanted to hang out on tuesday and Thursday. But it turns out that after class she had to go straight home. I told I was worried about her, but she told me not to worry about her. Is this a good sign. To be honest she sounded like she was a little glad to be talking to me.

Back in the 80s I liked a girl in the church I attended to. I told my friend Lewis to tell her I liked her so he did. Every time I saw her in church she would hide so I told my friend Lewis to set up a group to go out. So her sister and my friend Lewis would go together to eat pizza. But she was kinda cold so I gave up. About 5yrs later my cousin tells me one day so what happened between you and Diane? I said nothing happened she didn't like me. Then he tells me that's not what she told me she said your cute and smart she wanted you to keep chasing her. So she did a good job on acting as she didn't like me. But she was very cold to this day I don't know why she did that. My cousin had the same experience he liked girl in the neighborhood but she showed no interest then years later as adults she told him she liked him.

When you like someone and want to be friends with them, what is your mind set. Do you want to get something or do you want to give something. I just personally find that when I meet new people who I would like to be friends with, my mind set is always to give something. It just creates an over all better vibe. It's always a nice positive feeling anyway to be a giver. If you don't expect the other person to give you back, I think they sense that and the soil has become much more fertile to grow a friendship. If it does not happen then it is what is it. Friendships can take time and if you try to create something or expect something faster than it would naturally occur, that could make the other person uncomfortable. Like if you were coming on too strong. If I go into a relationship to give, then the other person may think, wow that's a person I would like to be friends with.

You can't know with certainty, people play games all the time. The problem is women are reiant upon a man initiating either a friendship or more. There are exceptions but it's not that common. Men do the work.

A symmetrical relationship is the ultimate goal. I had that with my best friend since the 4th grade before he died at the age of 27. Now, and all the time, I like another person more than they like me. It's so stupid. Why must we play these stupid games of when to engage and when to back off? Okay... So there's this guy at my school and he's a year older than me. But we see each other a lot. Only because a few of my friends are really close to him. We have the same interest like Music and theater. We also were in the spring musical together. And every once in a while we would talk. But nothing really serious. Now since the musical is over I'm really wanting for us to still talk. I saw him the other day at the concert that I was supposed to be singing at with one of my friends. After doing a Mic check I walked out side for some fresh air Because I had a head ache and I was sick so I knew I wasn't going to sound good. But I didn't realize he was out there till I walked outside and when I did. He said "You guys sounded pretty good" Which i thought was a total lie because I knew i sounded really bad. I replied with "No we don't we're going to suck" And he said "No you won't sing" and i refused to sing and he kinda just looked at us saying we would do good. Then when it was time for us to sing we failed so bad and I walked off Sat down and just looked around in disgusted at how bad we were. When he noticed what I was doing. He looked at me and smile and just like that I seemed to become happy again. It wasn't until a few days later that i thought about it and kinda realized I might be starting to like him and when I did I got scared and told my mom I was too sick to go to school. Just so I could avoid any awkwardness because I wasn't exactly sure. Now this school year is almost over and next year he will be going to high school. Do you think I should tell him that I like him before he leaves this year or wait till high school? What do you think I school do in general?

Wow, you are really good, you have helped a lot already. Wow, someone who actually responds to posts. That is simply amazing. Ok, maybe you will respond to me. I like a girl at work. We are both 51. Once we had an argument 4 years ago, but this year she finally seemed to let it go and she talked to me. We drive school buses. Long story short I would see her at a middle school but I lost parts of my route and this took about two months. I developed a crush on her and I decided I had to tell her. I also told her I had trouble in the past with anxiety over rejection and stuff. She also went through a very tough divorce which is most of the reason she projected onto me in that argument. Anyway, I was enjoying talking with her and then I couldn't. I told a couple of weeks ago that I've had a crush on her. She didn't say anything negative and she was pretty positive about it, it seemed. Meanwhile, I go home in the morning after my run bu she lives out of town and she sort of parks near a guy who lives on the other side of town because it is also too far for him to drive home. Long story short, I got cold feet as experience warns me about girls with guy friends. And he has hours to talk to her if he wants. She seems to confide in him. I don't know what they talk about but I also can tell that she realizes that my heart would fall when I would see them walking or talking together. I asked her friend about this situation. She said the girl is not dating and that she would talk to her for me. I think I might have scared her off with the anxiety stuff or my complete lack of confidence. I had thought I had communicated with her on Facebook and I sent her messages. But since I never got one friend I didn't have any "connections" to anyone so I think the messages went nowhere at all. She didn't seem to know anything about my messages which was really a very good thing because I had come on quite strong. Anyway, I really like the girl but I've been having to try to control my feelings so I won't hurt myself and this forced me to stay away from a girl I liked which could have been a mixed signal. I had to have time to get my mind together and my feelings. I still have strong feelings but I had to dampen the whole thing because I was afraid of crashing and burning hard. I had to consider my mental health. I've never married but she's a grandmother. She has grown kids and one girl from her second marriage. And if the girl isn't mad or annoyed with my behavior then I feel it must be the case that she really isn't interested in me. She is from the country and I really am not. She hunts and it's a passion of hers and beyond that I don't know much about her. What I do know is that I probably should know a lot more before I go trying to fall in "love" with her. Love is a great feeling but it ought to be based on knowing someone. I made a conscious attempt to pull my heart out of the lead of this so I could not get hurt badly for over feelings that perhaps I shouldn't even have. I'm just saying I thought I really better slow the hell down because my heart was fixing to make an even bigger fool of myself than I already have in person. I think they might be going to church. I really don't know what to think. But I should know something more very soon. So there's this girl I wanted to befriend. She was in my physics class last semester. The first day, she walked me all the way to my class and seemed friendly. After a few weeks, she didnt do that anymore and she'd say bye afterwards. When I talked to her, she would just talk about herself, and not ask questions about me. When we hung out, she was an hour late, because her alarm didn't set off. but she said sorry. She talked about her boyfriend a lot, but she didn't ask me about my boyfriend. She shared with me a lot of personal things. she also mentioned that she would love to invite me to the gym with me with her friends. She said she was supposed to leave at 4, but she stayed until 6. so we hung out 11-6. she said some of her friends are annoying, amd she does want to find new ones. i said that i didnt have much friends, and i said i had a bad ex that broke up with me in disneyland, but i didnt go into much detail. My mom texted me and i was acared i might get in trouble, so she offered to meet her. In the car ride, she mentioned to me how she wanted to be friends with this one girl in the tennis team, and she admired her, but she was too shy to talk to her. i felt awkward hearing that, because that's how i felt about her, except that I didnt really admire her, I just wanted to be close friends with her, it made me wonder what she thought of me. Then she dropped me off, and said she didn't feel like meeting my mom this time. This happened during Christmas vacation after New Year's. She didn't contact me since. I told a random person on blahtherapy, and she said she isnt interested, b/c she treated people she didnt like like this. What do you think? Part 2: Well and I get jealoud of how my boyfriend found a group so easily! he started off more shy then me, then all of a sudden he found a group of friends to hang out with. they all hang in one room and are gamers, and its easy for him because they all hang in ONE room. for me, when i have to hang out with someone, i have to text initiate, plan a day, and time. For him, his friends are there in the room everyday, on a timely basis!! so he doesnt have to try as hard. but i do enjoy their company, I hang in that group too, but they only hang out with me when my boyfriend is with them. I'm a Junior in High School and I just told my close friend of around 13 years that I liked her as more than a friend. She is a Senior in High School (only 9 months older) and upon telling her she didn't actually say whether she feels the same way or not. She said that she doesn't want to get into a relationship because of college and what not but I don't honestly know how to interpret that. People I ask tell me that she is "thinking about it' but I really don't know how she really feels and it is tearing me apart.

The problem with advice is that it is all based on how other people will see you if you do or don't do something. For example, 'you don't want to be seen to be anxious'. Well why not? How at ease with myself can I be if I simply do or don't do what will make me look bad or foolish or silly by others?
