Scotland History Tours is here for people who want to learn about Scottish history and get ideas for Scottish history tours. I try to make videos which tell you tales from Scotland's past and give you information about key dates in Scottish history and historical places to visit in Scotland. Not all videos are tales from Scotland's history, some of them are about men from Scotland's past or women from Scotland's past. Basically the people who made Scotland. From April 2020 onward I've tried to give ideas for historic days out in Scotland. Essentially these are days out in Scotland for adults who are interested in historical places to visit in Scotland.
As a Scottish history tour guide people ask: Help me plan a Scottish holiday, or help me plan a Scottish vacation if your from the US. So I've tried to give a bit of history, but some places of interest in Scotland as well.

My original exposure to the Stone of Scone was via Terry Pratchett's Thud, where dwarf kings are crowned on a loaf of hardtack called the Scone of Stone. I didn't initially realize it was a reference to a real world practice. So it's really striking me funny (if a little confusing to my tired brain) to have Max on to make bannocks for this particular episode. 🤣

Scone Palace is where my eldest, then about 18 months, said her first complex sentence. We had toured the palace and stopped for a treat in the gift shop/tea shop that was in the basement at the time. As we stood outside waiting for my mother, a peacock in full spread approached us - approached my daughter, in particular! She stood breathless, with her shortbread forgotten in her hand, as this magnificent creature trod daintily up to her and *snatched* that cookie out of her hand - and then hollered at the top of her lungs, “THAT BIRD STOLE MY SHORTBREAD!!!” She turned 39 this week. I’ll have to ask her if she has any memory of the occasion at all ❤

Another great story Bruce, I have been to Scone a lot over the years to be honest as my in laws worked for Scone Estate and I worked there many times as a contractor when I lived in Perth. Seems so long ago now lol. Keep up the good work sir and look forward to your next vid 👍

I remember as a wee boy being introduced to one of the gents who stole the stone from the cathedral. My old man was quite excited but it meant nothing to me then. Unfortunately... STOVIES...I'll bet thats whit they ate ...a big cauldron of stovies wi' a slab of bannock...awesome.

How do you make a Scottish king like Macbeth? Well finding three witches on a heath is probably a good start!

I know how you get an English king. You get a German or a Scot or a Welshman or a Frenchified Viking or a Viking or a French man. Not been an English dynasty since 1066.
