How do you target Suspended Muskies in open water

Dang good advice Pete! Ran into this bite yesterday pretty much by accident (I'm a total rookie with musky), amazed to see a lot of fish in 20+ ft. of water chasing baits that ran only 5-6 ft. down. Trolled those waypoints again and connected. Big water, but break it down. Pick a section and work it, make it a smaller lake and focus on it. Water was on the clear side and that may make a difference - they can see lures from a long ways away. It was hot (88 deg. yesterday) and just think they are more comfortable in cooler open water. My theory anyway ;) All the best!

Great video Pete. Very clearly understandable. I have purchased some rod holders for trolling as my boat has many precut spots for them. Can’t wait to just try them in open water (and sucker season). I just left the north woods (and first ever season of musky fishing). In Colorado now doing late season trout in the Colorado river. Then heading to lake Powell for vertical jigging for striper. Hey great video rescuing the doe. I sent that to my hunter friends in Colorado. Keep up the great content.

Couldn’t figure out exactly where you wanted people to post their questions. I’m just gonna drop it in here. Great job on the channel. First time and only time I have subscribed to a channel. Right on for bringing quality media not social media. Question: I have been having more instances of musky but pike as well hammering lures with their face/head but not striking with their mouth. Usually a jerkbait being ripped. They still can get hooked but usually shake off or rip out. Any insights into this phenomenon? do you think it’s preventable, is it a way for them to test for artificiality of prey in high fishing pressure circumstances? It seems to be almost impossible to counter because they refuse to bite it before checking it. Sorry for the worlds longest RU-vid comment. I don’t really usually make them. Any help is appreciated.
