What is a c stand and how do you use one?!?
C-Stands are one of the most versatile and common medium duty stands in the film industry. Almost every major gripping manufacturer makes their own version. There are C Stands from Matthews, C stands from Avenger and C Stands from Kupo, even Neewer are making their own version!
Although common, when people lay eyes on a c-stand for the first time, they are often left confused at the complexity of the metal contraption standing before them.
So, to address this problem, in todays video I will be introducing you to two brands of C-stand, Avenger and Matthews, showing you the differences between them, how they work, how to use a c stand properly, as well as some of the most common configurations you'll find on sets.
We'll also look at the different c stand base options (turtle and sliding leg) as well as the differences between different grip or gobo heads.
