I would love to fish together sometime. Just started a new job, so may have to wait until next month. I recently fished Desota, but I've never fished Zorinsky. Lets keep in touch.
In my opinion the hair rig for me is a must now. I say this because if I put corn on the hook the bluegills strip me bare, and I sit with no bait on hook. bluegills can not (or have not) taken my boiled field corn off a hair rig. I believe with the method cage you have a nice pile of chum around your bait and it makes it more easy to attract carp. So they will find a pile of chum easier than 2-3 pieces of corn. I also try to cast to the same area, so each time I cast I am chumming that general area.. 99% of the time when I reel in my bait it is still on the hair, with corn on the hook I get stripped all the time. Yes the feeder does increase the chance of snagging. where I tend to fish is very sandy so I don't lose a lot, I lose them when there is a tree or something. When I reel in I always reel in with my rod tip high to prevent snagging on bottom. I don't lose many, but I would be lying if I said I don't lose any. I order them in bulk, it can range from $1.50 to $2.00 a piece, much cheaper than the method leads that can cost $4 to 5.
