I don’t get why they haven’t put Braille on dollars yet especially because they’re always making new bills

Hey, thank you so much for watching this video and for the comment. I completely agree with you, people in the United States are idiots, all of the other countries have plastic currency that has a braille on it, do United States still use paper bills for their currency and no braille. It would be so easy to eat to implement, but yet they still have not done it yet. Thanks so much for watching this video and for subscribing, I sincerely appreciate it! Hope to hear from you again soon. Matt

Thanks for this Matt! I have never seen one of those devices before. I am from the UK and our 5 pound notes are the smallest with the silkiest feel to it, the 10 is a little bigger and is slightly rougher texture and the 20 is slightly bigger than the 10 and much rougher texture. The notes also have braille at the top left of each note. Have you ever tried seeing AI to read currency?

Hey Blind Havok, thank you for the comment. It is nice that your currency is distinguishable by feel. There are definitely a lot of apps for smart phones, but this is another option for those of us who don't have a smart phone. Stay tuned, I have a cool video coming out tomorrow that you might like ;) Thanks again!Matt

Hey Blind Havok! It sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead of you, I am glad you're doing well. The video will be up sometime today.. ;) Is it cold in the UK this time of year? Sorry for my ignorance, I have never been to Europe, so I'm just not sure what it is like there. It snowed here last night. Have a great weekend, talk to you again next week! Enjoy your time away!Matt

In the UK, all bills are different relative size to each other, our lowest is a 5 next is a 10 and and it's 15% larger, the 20 is 15% larger still.

Hi, thank you for watching. I like how they do that, it makes it a lot easier for the blind and visually impaired to identify what they have. It makes it nice, they don’t do that here in the United States. Thanks again

Hey Matt that's a very nice device it does come in pretty handy back in the days when I was in school I was actually showing one of those devices by my low vision teacher. That would come in and work with me about once a week in the classroom. Although I was never given one of these devices which really is no big deal due to the fact that I still have some substantial Vision to where I can see the currency numbers I do have to bring the bill up a little close but I can still identify visually the currency. There are also certain folding techniques for each bill that will also help you identify what they are they also taught me this folding technique as well. I don't know if you use a smartphone or not if you do are you able to navigate it pretty well? Because of the reason that there are also apps that you can pay for or get a free trial version that will also identify currency not just US currency but will also identify currency of other countries as well.. so I was also just wondering when you go to your retinal specialist do they have you read the letters on the visual Acuity eye chart can you see anything on the chart?

Hi Sam, thank you for the comment and information. Yes, it is a nice little device, but I know that there are a lot of other options too. There are a lot of great apps for identifying currency. I don't use a smart phone right now, but I know that I should really get one. From what I've heard, smart phones are very easy to use for people who are blind or visually impaired. Do you think apple or android products are easier to use and navigate?Thank you for your input and insights.I hope you're doing well!Matt

@@BlindtoBillionaire it would all depend on your budget or how much you want to spend but performance-wise I would have to say the iPhone I'm using Android myself accessibility can be kind of iffy sometimes especially when using a screen reader which is probably something you would use on the iPhone it's known as voice over on Android it's known as TalkBack. But I would say the Apple lineup does have very good accessibility it does run a little more smoother than the Android platform. The downside of Apple is you practically almost have to pay for everything Android there are free apps you can get and there are other apps that are also free but they are trial versions. One app I would recommend that you have if you get Android I think it's on Apple II is an OCR app there's a good one called knfb reader it's an optical reader that will read out printed documents the app is about $99 which is kind of pricey from the national Federation for the blind but you can catch it on sale every now and then for around 19 or $20 is It's a Wonderful app there are also magnifier apps but I don't know if those will help you in your situation I use one called visor and it is completely free if you like you can Google more information on these apps or just let me know.

Hi Sam, thank you for all of the great information. That is very helpful! I am still trying to figure out which operating system I want to pursue. Do you find that all of the Apple versions are similar, or would you recommend something more like an iphone 8 or 10 versus an older model?... Or do all of them work the same since they're updated simultaneously? I will definitely check out those apps you've suggested once I find the right smart phone fr me. Thank you again for all of your advice, I always appreciate your suggestions and expertise when it comes to technology... You definitely know that you're talking about! Thank you!Matt

@@BlindtoBillionaire hey Matt as I mentioned before between Android and iOS accessibility does run a bit smoother on iOS as far as which phone to get the latest generation is always better because it's the most up-to-date and you won't have any issues with apps however if it's not in your budget cuz iPhones can be expensive even the older ones I would probably go with no less than maybe an iPhone 7 and that's kind of pushing it right there you can go with us slightly older model like an iPhone 6 but you might run into issues with apps not working properly because of the constant updates that Apple does to their phones that the older Hardware may not be able to support it. If you want the latest iPhone check with your local carrier to see if they offer some kind of leasing or payment plan to help offset the cost and you won't have to pay for the phone in full there's one caveat to that you might be pushed into. a contract which would require you to stay with that carrier for the certain amount of time usually 2 years I don't recommend AT&T they are terrible and their customer service is just so outrageous. My cousin is with Sprint and he's been with them for a long time so that's one carrier that I could recommend. One other so you might want to know I don't know if you and Corry are together on a family plan or if you are on separate plans I would recommend getting on family plan paying one bill and usually with Sprint or T-Mobile you'll get some great deals T-Mobile offers free Netflix on all of their family plans and it usually comes out to about $40 a line like I said sprint is pretty good too.

Hey Sam! Wow, thank you again for all the information. That is a lot, but great information. I am on a family plan with my parents and Corey through T-Mobile. We really like their service and pricing. Corey has an iphone and as we were reading your comment, she said, "I've noticed that apps don't work on older versions." That is good to know. I'm just trying to decide if I should buy an 8 or the new 10. I will definitely check out the apps you've suggested and let you know what I buy when I do.Again, thank you very much for all the helpful insights. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me. I hope I am providing just as much value to you as you are to me. :)Thank you again!Matt

Hello Matt! Do you find that you have more of a problem with paper currency, or with coins when organizing your money?
@BlindtoBillionaire
@BlindtoBillionaire 5 лет назад
Hi Ryan, thank you for watching my video and the comment! It is nice to hear from you! Paper currency is definitely much more difficult since it is all the same size and texture. There is no real way to tell the difference between bills just by feel. However, the only exception is the $100 bill, there is some kind of plastic strip in the center on the face, which can be felt. Other than that, they all feel very similar. Coins are much easier since all of them are different sizes, have different texture, and have a distince sound when dropped onto a countertop.Luckily, we have entered into a time where paper currency is rarely used anymore.Thank you again for the comment and your support of my videos and channel, it means a lot to me!Thank you again, Ryan!Matt
