Seven Reasons I am not a Roman Catholic:
The first reason why the Roman Catholic church is wrong is because of the doctrine of Christ's being offered over and over in the Mass.
The second reason is because of the excessive place that Mary.
Thirdly, because they have elevated tradition over the Scripture. Mass, with their doctrine of Mary.
Fourthly, because of the reverence or worship of images. The scriptures tell us that God should not be reduced to a physical form. He will not be worshipped by anything we can make with our hands.
Fifthly, Because of the false teachings about the sacraments. The Roman church teaches that grace is infused through these sacraments and that grace can be earned instead of imputed by God.
Sixthly, the teaching of the Roman Catholic church about purgatory is a falsehood.
Finally, many Roman Catholic practices are tied to ancient paganism’s rites. Some people in the Catholic Church have met Jesus Christ, and I praise God for that, but they had to do it circumventing their own theology if they even knew their own theology.
Christ's message for them and to us today is: Stay separate from false doctrine and evil.

I was a cradle Catholic. After my husband died two and a half years ago, I had a real moment. Basically, born again. I left the Catholic church, my late husband was Catholic as well and before he passed we both had a moment. Some of his family thinks he's still in Purgatory. I couldn't handle that.

Getting baptized doesn't save anybody. You must have a supernatural spiritual experience with God through Jesus alone. You must seek Jesus with your whole heart and let Him in. It's a spiritual thing.

Let us not be fooled! We do not want to be one of those who will be turned away on that day when men stand before God. The way is narrow, and the road is straight, and FEW be that find it. Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Verse 22 MANY will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Verse 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matt 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it. Our sin has set us all on the road to hell and no amount of good will fix the sin we have done. We have ALL sinned. It is not about the type of sin or how much sin. It is about the fact that we have sinned. For that reason we all need a Savior. If we want forgiveness for our sin and peace with God. If we want to escape eternal hell. If we want to go to heaven we must understand the following. We DO NOT get saved (go to heaven), get right with God, forgiven, by being good, by being religious, by just believing in God, by praying a prayer, being baptized, asking or accepting Jesus into our hearts, accepting Jesus as our personal Saviour, confessing our sins, joining a church, cleaning up our lives, doing penance, taking the bread and the wine, or doing all these things accumulative. Salvation is a gift that is given to those who repent and come to faith. Eph. 2:8,9 Salvation takes repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Acts 20:21. testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Make no mistake. We cannot be a friend of Christ and remain a rebel against God and unless we repent we remain a rebel. The word repent, from the Greek word “metanoia”, means a change of mind or direction. God is not receiving those who almost or kind of repents. It is like the word About-face which is a 180 degree turn. We turn from not wanting God fully in our lives to willfully surrendering to Him to lead our lives. When any person comes to the place where they are broken over their sin toward God to the point that they want to get right with God no matter what it will cost them they are in a state/spirit of repentance toward God. Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. The repentant heart would walk away from anything or any one to get right with God. We then take that willing repentant heart we have towards God and place it on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Master, because He paid the price for our sin, and that becomes faith. At that moment God’s grace through Christ is freely applied to us and we are born again, saved from eternal hell and sealed by the Spirit so that we will never again return to the practice of sinning. 1John 3:9,10. Our first command after salvation is to be baptized. Repentance of sin is the result of the new birth/salvation and will be part of the sanctification process and our new life with the Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 2:10. While we may sin from time to time after salvation it will never again be our practice 2Cor. 5:17, 1John 3:9,10. John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. REV. 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. It all boils down to are we sorry/broken enough over our sins against God and do we want to get our hearts right with Him or not. Let us be sure that tomorrow does not belong to us.

I was baptized in this church early 40s. An infallible pope lived veniel and mortal sins. I grew up in fear of going to hell. So I had to go to a priest for forgiveness. This is a horrible way to live as a child. My mom was greatly deceived. She believed everything taught. I was always suspicious of the teachings. Getting Bible Studies dies wonders

Thankfully, there are many rebels in the Catholic Church, who dont buy into all the heresies. Some are priests who actually use their position to preach the Gospel of Salvation according to the scripture......repentance of sins and the sin of unbelief, putting their faith/belief in Christ alone. I wish that were true across the board, in all churches......... I witnessed to a married Catholic couple for years...........then moved away.......years later, they came to see me, to let me know that a group of Nuns explained the Gospel to them, and they "believed" and accepted Christs work on the Cross as the only means of Salvation. They tossed out all the statues, paraphernalia of many kinds, and the beads also. praise the lord......

Eternity in purgatory!😮 That’s not Catholic teaching. Purgatory is the final stage of sanctification. I understand it as with many Catholic Theologians that the Judgement seat of Christ is the final stage of sanctification we call purgatory. Now there are other Catholics who may have different opinions then me, I am more in line with Pope Benedict XIV view. However, no Catholic I am aware of claim the experience of purgatory is eternal. That would be heresy.

The moment we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior we are Justified by God (Justification), Threw Jesus death and resurrection we are sanctified (sanctification) and final when receive our heavenly reward we are glorified ( glorification) God's sanctifying work in our lives begins the moment we are justified and He continues to sanctify us until His work is completed when we enter into glory with Him. “Glorification is when we will one day be free from the presence of sin. If we have trusted in the true Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the substitute for our sins, and His righteousness alone - in his death burial, resurrection...then Justification, Sanctification and Glorification are a foregone conclusion in (Rom.) 8:28-30 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. And since I believe as well as many others there is no purgatory or state of suffering for your sins. Christ has died for those so sins, past, present and future. If not his death was for nothing. You will either be in heaven or hell and nothing in between.

Sadly, the number of Catholics worldwide is close to 1.40 Billion. It's possible that a small number have truly placed their faith in Jesus for their salvation but I believe the overwhelming majority have not placed their faith fully on Christ. Also many Christian Orthodox share the same beliefs as Catholics minus the Pope having authority. This is a large mission field and a lot of people are completely unaware 😢.

I don't judge Catholics, though. Thier way of worship & Bible interpretation is wrong, but as long as they believe & accept Jesus as God's begotten son, Lord & Savior, they will be saved. There can be fakes in any church order.

The New Testament writers are emphatic that salvation is by grace alone (Rom. 3:24, 28; 4:5; 11:6; Gal. 2:16-21; Eph. 2:8-10; Titus 3:5-8). . Galations 5:6 in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Wherefore, brethren, labor the more, that by good works you may make sure your calling and election." 2 Peter 1:10 Then there's verse Titus 3:14, where Paul says, “Let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need.” You see a need, and in love you try to meet it-that's a good work. Good works are the overflow of love for Christ that meets the needs of others. This is exactly what Paul says in Titus 3:8: “The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works.” By your stubbornness and impenitent heart, you are storing up wrath for yourself for the day of wrath and revelation of the just judgment of God, who will repay everyone according to his works: eternal life to those who seek glory, honor, and immortality through perseverance in good works, but wrath and fury to those who selfishly disobey the truth and obey wickedness." Rev 12.17And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Do you see the running theme that occurs throughout the N.T. ? How do evangelicals get to heaven ?

Wonder how anyone will leave this earth and go outside without protection. Vehicle and oxygen. Not to mention food and drink. People who have been made to believe that they will end up in heaven will not get a shock. Because a death makes them nonexistent. Nonexistent persons cannot sense anything. (Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten.

The Catholic approach is more honest. After professing the faith of Jesus’ redemption we admit when we mess up and then repent and confess. We continue to walk with the Lord. When a Protestant messes up, they say maybe I was never saved.

Catholics also think they are the "Church" the bible talks about, not realizing that the Church is the body of Christ. I've heard of people who left the catholic church and came to know Christ as their Lord and Savior and found a good bible preaching church. I feel so blessed to know Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. To go to a Church who teaches the true word of God each Sunday. It's such a blessing to be able to pray directly to my Heavenly Father in Jesus' name. To have that close relationship with my Lord. I pray for Catholics, that they too will find that Christ is the only way to the Father. That they will come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior and find a good bible preaching church.

A Martin Luther Moment for ya Even Martin Luther saw the inescapable principle of fragmentation and disunity that lies at the heart of sola scriptura. In a letter to Urlich Zwingli, he complained bitterly about the doctrinal anarchy that was even then rampant among Protestants: "If the world lasts, it will be necessary, on account of the differing interpretations of Scripture which now exist, that to preserve the unity of faith, we should receive the [Catholic] councils and decrees and fly to them for refuge." Martin Luther, concurred that the Bible is indeed a Catholic Book. He had this to say: "We are compelled to concede to the Papists that they have the Word of GOD, that we received it from them, and that without them, we should have no knowledge of it at all." @@bibleman8010 Luther’s information about the Bible is obsolete, and his journey from Catholicism to the faith preserved in the scriptures was incomplete, being weighed down by baggage from his Roman Catholic training. The canon of scriptures was established centuries before there was a hegemonic Catholic corporation, more centuries before there was a Roman Catholic corporation, and over a millennium before the Roman corporation decided the previous “infallible” councils were wrong and added the apocryphal books to its particular canon. Hegemony is the reason Catholic apostasies became ubiquitous. The Holy Spirit revealed through Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians, that alternative churches (or denominations) were necessary so that apostates (such as Catholics - “I am of Cephas (Peter)”) could be separated out from among Christ’s sheep. As for (Roman) Catholics being the source of the scriptures, thanks to archaeological and historical research, we no longer depend on Rome’s version edited by the monk Erasmus. But, thanks for the outdated quotes.

You're well read, but sophomoric. You seem to have an animus towards Catholicism. Next thing, you'll be saying Catholics aren't Christians. You're really very silly. You haven't really bothered to think things through. The Early Church practiced sacraments, read from whatever sources they trusted, split into laity and clergy, established traditions and customs. Luther erred. The Church is more than a book, even the Bible. It is works, evangelizing, bringing the sacraments into a commnicant's life, spreading the Faith, retreating from the world, embracing mysticism. You think your rationality is the only view. It is most assuredly not. Indeed, I for one, and I'm one of legions, find your views cold and sterile. As a professional editor, your prose is overwrought, turbid, and tedious, frankly. Lord, please save Chris, Pete, and Nick. Illuminate their understanding so they can receive spiritual truth. Convict them of sin and judgement, especially the sin of self righteousness. Give them faith in Christ so that they will trust you and you alone for their salvation. And bless your people through the observation of their conversion.

Religion is man's attempt to reach God and nearly always boils down to good works -- being a good person. Live a good enough life and you go to heaven. Not so Christianity, which preaches a personal relationship with Jesus. Believe on Him, turning from your sins, and you will be saved from hell.

If our salvation was contingent upon our works and it was possible for us to achieve sinless perfection by what we do or don't do after believing in Christ, then what would be the purpose of Jesus Christ's crucifixion. The sole reason Jesus was crucified was because we can not save ourselves at all by any works. We will never achieve sinless perfection. Sanctification is a lifelong work of the Holy Spirit. Which leads us to repentance and convicts us to confess our sins before the Lord. Not mortal men. The mosaic law never saved anyone. Which is why we needed a redeemer. If purgatory was a stepping stone into heaven and deceased sinners were able to be set free by the works of the living, then Jesus's death on the cross was in vain because it implies the Lord's sacrifice was not enough to fully save and redeem a sinner from hell. Jesus's death is sufficient enough to save all who put their faith and trust in Him. No one has any form of authority to redeem a sinner by any work. No man under the sun has the power to do what only God can do through Christ Jesus. We accept the fact that we play no part in our redemption other than faithfully trusting the Lord to be for us what the gospel has said He is. Our Lord and Savior. Where in Christ alone is redemption and the forgiveness of sins. There is no other way. Purgatory is a false catholic doctrine made up by mortal men who exalted themselves up to be more than what they are. They are sinners who need a redeemer just like everyone else. No priest or pope is our mediator between us and God. There is only One, and His name is Jesus Christ.

Read James 2:14-26. Read chapters 14 and 15 of John and note that Our Lord and Savior says five times in so many words that if we love Him, keep His Commandments. For a small sample of those Commandments, which are works, and what happens to those who don't keep them, read Matt 25: 31-46. It is absolutely true that we cannot save ourselves by our works alone and that we are saved by grace and faith in Jesus, which is taught by the Catholic Church. But this faith must be demonstrated by works. Note that these are not the "works of the law" Paul writes about. Jesus knows we have a fallen nature and will sin which is why He gave authority to His Apostles to forgive sins - John 20: 22,23. The Apostles, and those to whom this authority was passed on to by them and their successors, are acting in Persona Christi, in the Person of Christ. It is Jesus Who is forgiving the sins, not the Apostles, or priest, hearing the confession. This is the way Jesus established it.

@@LetsgoB I was raised Catholic, my dad was one of the first deacons with a doctorate of theology. I've now studied for 36 years, so I'm not a kid espousing subjective idiocy. The Catholic Church has thwarted the gospel of Christ with church dogma, traditions, and corruption. My dad who became a psychologist agreed with me, but still kept serving, working to end the corruption. I don't have time to go over it, and I asked him why would he would serve where it's so corrupt, he replied, where do the people need the true gospel worse? He was a great loving men, 2 books were written about him, and tried to change the corruption of the Catholic Church. Aside from the corruption and non biblical practices NONE go out and preach the gospel, they preach the Catholic Church - come to the Catholic Church for God and answers when the gospel dictates, repent, accept Jesus Christ as you're Savior and follow him and his word, not a church. Many who go to church are not born again it is a feel good practice and social outlet. ( Catholic Church not being the only one) Christ also said in the end of times within the church, there are many weeds that will be separated from the ters(or wheat) and will be cast into the fire. 🔥 God made it clear in his word and the Bible may be read before a homily but not studied memorized and lived.

The RCC came up with this doctrine to keep people tied to their false religious system and apostate church. A mortal sin would be like intentionally missing mass, so if a person was originally in a state of grace but then intentionally missed mass as an example, that person would go to purgatory but indulgences can be given and the family can then pray the person out of purgatory and possibly elevate them to heaven status. Catholicism is not Christianity... it's not even close. It is really Satan's Greatest Deception. He doesn't care how he gets you, as long as he gets you.

Since you claim there is no "purgatory " Then please explain where Jesus' Spirit went for the 3 days his body was dead? Sacred Scripture says ",, that he went and preached to the spirits who lay in prison. " ( 1 Peter 3:19) Where was this prison? was it in Heaven? If so why would there be a prison in Paradise? Was the prison in the Hell of the Damned? If so why would the damned need to hear the Gospel? . as you say there is no "purgatory" then Jesus did not have to die on the cross. If Moses and Abraham and the rest of the OT Faithful were already in the presence of the Lord then Jesus did not have to die. His death on the cross opened the narrow gate and the OT faithful passed through that narrow gate from the wilderness into the Promised land. The OT Faithful that died waiting for the Messiah weren't in slavery in Egypt- the antetype of hell of the damned for they had been rescued but they weren't in the Promised land of heaven either. Jesus' death opened the narrow gate and fulfilled the Covenant. Please study the Hebrew thoughts of Sheol and the grave, and note that Sheol is NOT Gehenna. Gehenna is for the accursed and the Damned not Abraham or Moses. The waiting in the spiritual wilderness is the best explanation of "purgatory" I can think of right now. Thanks for listening and remember Revelation 21 :17 & 1 Cor 3:15 especially verses 10-15. ---- the word hell means Hades or Sheol, the collective abode of the dead, divided into Paradise or Abraham's Bosom--the state of God-fearing souls--and Gehenna, the state of ungodly souls. Thus the descent into hell suggests that the Son of God carried the sins of the world to hell; or the Son of God carried Good News of deliverance to the godly dead such as Lazarus the beggar and the repentant thief.

@bibleman8010 There were formerly 2 compartments in hell with a great gulf fixed between them. Old Testament believers could not be in heaven because Jesus Christ had not given the sacrifice that takes away sin. God's holiness could not be in the presence of unatoned sin any more than darkness can exist in the presence of light. Jesus Christ died and went to hell for 3 days and 3 nights. He then led captivity captive, and hell enlarged her borders. No purgatory.

Purgatory is Latin for the same The Abode of the Just - Abraham's Bosom (Lk 16:22-26) This is where they awaited their promised deliverance. Gehenna (Greek): This is the lake of fire. Eternal damnation (Mt:18:9) The good guys went to the Abode of the Just (Abraham's Bosom), the bad guys when to gehenna. There was a great chasm between the two places and there was no way to get to one side from the other. (Mt:18:9). Christ descended into hell on Good Friday so he could rescue the righteous from the part of hell where the righteous were.(1 Pt 3:18-19) Jesus is the only way to Heaven so it was important that he descended to the dead. (Jn 14:6) Jesus didn't go to hell as a dead guy. He went there as the Saviour. Jesus blew down the doors of the Abode of the Just and grabbed out every faithful servant of God from the beginning of history. He rescued them and freed them from this prison on Holy Saturday. Praise God! That must have been a great party.👏👏

When you are baptized, you first of all, have to know what you are being baptized for, and if you are a baby or infant, you simply don't know anything about sin.

It's not that the reprobate CAN'T believe, it is that they have no desire whatever to believe. They are not trying to be saved (and God is turning them away), they are rejecting Christ, and hating God. This is the natural condition of EVERYONE of us. NO ONE deserves salvation. The wonder is not that God elects only some people for salvation, it is that He elects anyone at all. It says we would Prefer to be with the Lord but don’t guarantee when we leave the body we will be with him instantly. For example: When I am at work I am not at home. When I leave work I PREFER to be at home. I might get stuck in traffic on the way home. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 New International Version 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would *prefer*to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

My fellow brethren, this is a distortion. The Apostolic Church is fully aware that we are only saved by grace through faith, not by works, which is why babies who are incapable of works are baptized. The Church has a mechanism of believers to maintain their service (works) for the Lord all throughout our lives. Once again, salvation is a free gift from God which cannot be earned, but remember that Saint James inspiringly said that faith without works is dead (James 2:17), and according to Saint Paul we must work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). So, faith and works are two sides of the same coin-you cannot separate them. Further, Saint Paul commands us to keep the ordinances (traditions) given to him by God for the Church (1 Corinthians 11:1-2). Yes, traditions, meaning the Orthodox traditions from the time of the Apostles. This means that the patriarchy of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons must persist with its God-ordained liturgical duties to simulate the Throne Room of God which is purely patriarchal and liturgical. You see, beloved, the Protestant reformation did just that-it reformed the ancient Church rather than restoring Orthodoxy.

It might be both. It might be neither. Depends on motives and ultimate results. Hypotheticals like yours that pose false dichotomies are useful only if you learn from the answers. So, pay attention. A drowning man isn’t going to listen to scripture. You have to preserve his biological life so he can think about the scriptures. Read James. On the other hand, if he’s going to die later and go to hell, you have saved his earthly life by putting off the inevitable; but you’ve done nothing to save his soul’s everlasting life from perdition. You need to do one and then the other. Works don’t count against sins because they’re already owed to God. You can’t pay July’s rent with June’s check. So, until you’ve received the gift of redemption from Christ, the best your good works can do is minimize your punishment in hell. If you’ve received the gift *as a gift* by trusting God instead of Self, your debt has been paid, so works actually count for something. Works for salvation minimize punishment but cannot save one’s soul from hell. Works done because of salvation bring rewards.

You do the sacraments and charity and humble brag in order to get rewarded. Catholicism is like every other religion in history as they ALL require religious rituals and doctrines to be performed to make it to heaven or to become enlightened. But the whole point of the crucifixion was to ATONE for our sins. There is no earning it. Every evil thought in your mind is a sin worthy of hell. You cannot earn your way to heaven. It is a religious racket and nothing more. The Roman church had a monopoly on the Faith for a long time but thanks to the printing press and an increase in literacy rates in western Europe people got to read the bible and once they did that was it.

In heaven, people are spirits, not bodies. Anything we are told about heaven is a metaphor for things far more wonderful than we can imagine.

If you don’t find Jesus now, you won’t find Him in heaven, either, because you won’t be there. Catholics don’t represent Catholicism. There isn’t even consistency from Jesuit to Dominican to Benedictine. But if you go to the defining documents of the -ism (catechism, papal bulls, church councils, Sacramentum Mundi), you’ll find that the video is spot on.

@rick wraps it up rather succinctly. RELIGION is not the same as Christ’s Gospel, but in fact is its antithesis. The RCC is among the world’s most corrupt and POLITICAL organizations, and is about 90% Pagan. Study the actual history - it’s an abomination.
