So many memories. I am the only American born in my family. Mom and Dad came to the states in 1960. I grew up spending summers in London in the 1970’s and early 80’s. We stay at Grosvenor House in the 70’s and the Hilton Park Lane. Going to theater with my mom and battling for a cab when we got out. Cabs to Waterloo to take train to Worcester Park to see my uncle. Then off to Bournemouth to see my grandparents. London is the greatest city in the world.
I do hours and take roughly the same money each week. Some times will be quiet , but then you have a busy spell when you can't even stop and that's when you can recover from a poor start to your shift or week even . Some days much busier than others
It's not that bad I think it is if you work days. I find the evening rush hour and working until 12 alot better in January then struggling on the day shift. I also think you have to do a Saturday if you do that it will make your earnings much better. Good video
Hi Mark, I do enjoy your videos, I wish you could make more of them. I think drivers who work at only the most lucrative times of the year can’t deliver the same quality of service to their passengers, as their knowledge of the streets, one way systems etc will be a bit rusty!
Nice video. You will have loads of work at the Victoria rank when the Rui Hotel eventually opens. As I live around the corner I always use the Vauxhall Bridge and ‘Wicked’ queues as an indication of how busy London is today 😁
It pays to be patient , you will always get a bad day when you don't get flagged down ! This happens occasionally , then your luck changes usually your very last job turns out to be a good one !
Great video. The only thing that was kind of off putting, the background music. I suggest not to use the background music for the whole length of the video. It's good whenever it's needed. But constantly listening to it makes us miss out the real noise of the world. Anyhow, I Enjoyed the video and you have earned one more subscriber today.
If you work by number of fares (or money) rather than hours, then statistically you earn a lower hourly wage. This is because you spend fewer hours working on busier days, and more hours running empty. It makes it easy to adjust to emptier weeks/months/years where you _need_ to work more hours, but you can just increase your weekly hours when money's tight, it will take fewer hours on average to hit your target.
Hi Mark, love your channel and content and the enthusiasm you give out about the trade and the way that you interact with the punter, I mean politeness i’ve always felt upmost privilege to become a licensed taxi driver although I come out the trade It seems that I’ve lost my confidence to go back to the great job it is my 1st Çab was a Q cab from Micky ascots what’a great job, then part-time or full-time what you put in is what you get out and Interaction that you receive with other Çab drivers creed or religion take care mark. Should do a video on police speed gin traps like the paddington slip goes from 30mph rlto 20mph as you would now 😉 show people how easy it is to lose ya licence so fare I've been lucky not to be done
I am pleasantly surprised on the work levels at the moment. Sunday i did rather well, very similar to pre - xmas levels. Like yourself i rarely rank up. Sadly I’m i little reliant on the apps this time of the year.
Certainly not true Sir. There had been confusion over the last few years when people were citing cabs were not stopping when hailed. The cabs were not stopping as they were already hired. The new LEVC hire light problem

I brought my girlfriend from Thailand to London for a week we walked down the road 5 minutes to Hyde Park juntion of Oxford street and when we got a taxi back it cost me £19 He went up and down every street and when I says why did you not turn right at HP Corner he say oh yes I could of done that So much for the knowledge 😆 🤣 Or do you think Thai tourist
So we are licensed in the metropolitan area 6 miles NSEW of Charing Cross. I can take a customer to anywhere in the Uk if agreed but won’t be able to pick up again until I get back to London

@@Markstaxidiaries But this cannot be right ...... Taxis for 60 years, have had the Seat Belt exemption..I can't believe that Cabbies stand for it .. I never wore a seat belt in 25 Years ( Only if i wasn't working, as the Rule states ) .. I couldnt be arsed messing about with Seat Belt, every shift ....I never knew this was the case in 2023 ..I really cannot believe anybody hasn't tried to rectify this arrangement ( Ps, I agree with it for Passengers, GREAT Idea, But the Driver, No Way )
Blame Brexit for this mess and disaster 20mph speed limits in London main Roads.When you exceed 20mph speed limits you pay £100 fine and you lose 3 points of your driving license.Nightmare for drivers.
