In order to exhaust heat / hot air to the outside, the one hose unit must draw air from the inside of the room; and in doing so, additional air is drawn in from outside of the room. Unlike a central AC or window unit that draws air from outside to cool the condensing coils, these units are entirely inside the dwelling. Still they work pretty well. I have one and have used it in my bedroom when my central unit has gone on strike.

I bought the portable ac that is in this video 12 years ago and it’s still running well today lol

We use multiple portable a/c’s in our TX apt to assist the ancient central a/c unit…since the portable allow the central a/c to run less…it has lowered our electricity bill a great deal!!! I understand some portable a/c’s need draining and others are bucket-less or self evaporating. As well as some are in between & partially self evaporate as it uses the liquid to cool the mechanism. I’m looking for a video that shows a comparison of these 3 types & what it looks like internally!!?!?

I have that same AC. Does good job cooling my apartment but I just wish it was a little quieter. Even on low setting it's a bit loud.

Great video. Wish would showed how I can get to the back side of the vins. Some reason when mine is on it’s blowing out the cold side fins. It blows hot air out the hot side just fine with no water. My blower motor always seems to have water on it as well😓

I'm a heavy equipment technician certified with HVAC so forgive me in the case home air conditioning units work differently, but in school I was taught that the hot pressurized gas is cooled in the condensor after leaving the compressor, and the thermal expansion valve isn't used to cool the refrigerant but is used to create a pressure drop which in turn causes the refrigerant to change states from a gas to a liquid, and now once it's in a liquid form, it can absorb heat from the evaporator which is inside the cab (or the hotter room air for household situations such as these) to remove heat from the cab of the vehicle, so refrigerant moreso removes heat from a room rather than adding cool air, however, the refrigerant doesn't simply only remove heat as some cooling effects are created due to the fact that after the pressure drop turning the refrigerant back into a liquid at the thermal expansion valve, and due to the heat inside the cab where the evaporator is located, the refrigerant actually begins to boil which not only allows for more heat removal from the surrounding air but because the referigant is a special liquid that boils with only a very slight pressure drop, and since it's been cooled through the condsensor, this boiling liquid is not hot but is rather cold and gives off a "cold steam" that provides the opposite effect of putting your head over a boiling pot of water and becoming hot - refrigerant both removes heat and produces cooling vapor

Thank you for your video. I currently have an issue with my AC and can't seem to find anyone with a similar issue. Basically, when I turn it on, it blows out cold air like normal, but overtime it blows out less and less air. After a couple minutes I only have this very small "breeze" of cool air coming out, which is definitely not strong enough to cool down my room. This started happening out of nowhere and I have no idea how to fix it. I drained the water out, cleaned my filters and the issue is still persisting. Note that this happens even though the room temp my AC is reading is not at the desired temp I told my AC to cool down my room to. If you have any idea how I can fix this, I would love your help. Thank you!

Everything works except it will not blow any air out of the exhaust at all. I first began having trouble with it when it started needing the water drained every two hours or less. That’s where the first problem started, but then it just stopped blowing any air out of the exhaust. It won’t blow hot or cold air, just nothing. Do you by chance have any ideas what that could be? The condensor sucks the room condtioned air and expells outside, I am having ब्लूबस्टार portable ac which always creating negative pressure in the room, and it sucks hot air from the door or windows, and didn't coll the room at desired temp mostly not below 30 deg with 39 ambient,plz explain

hi my LG portable got E9 error, you know how to fix it, It doesnt cooling at all and breath out hot air so weak not like before 😓 I just used it 3 months last summer it is still brand new.

I was trying to convert one of these to dual hose. I thought the small vent on the side was used for cooling the "hot side" (I guess that's called the condenser?) but upon watching this it looks like both vents end up connected together, meaning the conversion would not be possible. Why is mine dumping water right in the fan motor? My evaporator radiator looking part is covered in water as well. Not just the copper pipes of it. So much it blows water out on us. I would assume it would blow the water out the exhaust but it doesn’t.

Excellent. My only constructive criticism is if needing to clean the coil fins, the utmost of care must be used while using a vacuum as not to damage or crush them. I'd use a soft paint brush and vacuum, never touching the fins with the vacuum head. Crushing them will greatly impeded heat transfer and as well as the efficiency/performance of the unit.
