The second part of the video How the Pulse Power Supply Works reveals the principle of constructing a circuit for any pulse power supply. The essence of all schemes of this kind is to convert the industrial frequency of 50 Hz to a much higher frequency - from tens of kilohertz to units of megahertz. This conversion is aimed solely at reducing the size and weight of the transformer. At the same time, the circuits of the pulse power supply unit become more complicated compared to the transformer power supply unit, but its dimensions and weight are significantly reduced. So far, there are no rational circuit solutions to directly convert the frequency of 50 Hz to a much higher value with minimal power loss. Therefore, the alternating voltage of 50 Hz is forced to be rectified, after which the already pulsating voltage needs to be smoothed and only then converted by means of an inverter into a high-frequency voltage. To do this, it is enough to use such basic elements as a diode bridge, an electrolytic capacitor, and a pair of transistors controlled by a PWM controller.
