What is an MRI and how does it work? This video contains an animated, visual explanation of the basic principles of an MRI.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a test that uses powerful magnets, radio waves, and a computer to make detailed pictures of the inside of your body. Your doctor can use this test to diagnose you or to see how well you've responded to treatment. Unlike X-rays and computed tomography (CT) scans, MRIs don’t use the damaging ionizing radiation of X-rays.

Sorry, spin is NOT precession. A proton spins around its own axis, but also possesses a WOBBLING motion - which is called precession. The frequency of precession is proportional to the applied external magnetic field.

@@dr.paulinemoyaert for me as medical professional it's misleading as f*ck. Maybe I'm not the best audience because I'm an engineer servicing MRIs and CTs and I distinguish those equipments easily.

It's hard to believe the protons before they are aligned are like a bunch of disordered kids running around. I bet if they weren't oscillating like that it would cause problems in the body. Sure the MRI doesn't damage tissue with ionizing radiation but I'm suspicious on the effect such powerful magnetic forces have and the electrical function of the body. It is literally moving protons. Does this effect the cellular chemestry?

so, if all the protons in your body are being rearanged by the magnetism, that would seem to imply that your body is being totaly restructured at a subatomic level. maybe you should make another video, to explain why we don't go into the machine as a person, & come out of it as a lifeless, mushy blob!!!🤔
@HailAnts
@HailAnts 6 месяцев назад
Because the magnetic properties of subatomic particles do not determine either an atom’s chemical or atomic properties. Magnetism is far, far too weak to do that.
