I also like the lower leg kick, which probably helps him generate more power and also allows hips to stay closed longer

If he doesn't drive off the mound or actively rotate his back leg, how does he generate force from the lower body? Is it exclusively a function of sitting hard into the glute and drifting down the mound?
@treadathletics
@treadathletics 3 года назад
Sitting into the glute creates the forward move. There is some abduction present (outer glute is active). You could think of this as driving from the glute, rather than the quad. Most guys start to push when they hear "drive" though. The back leg rotates from the pelvis rotating into landing at the last second.

Ben, good stuff as always man. Generally speaking, would you say most of your athletes resonate more with “generating arm speed” from the high-cock position, or after torso rotation has caused layback of the arm and chest is more rotated towards home plate?

What is he doing with his front leg when he kicks out?

So now Dustin May is having TJ surgery along with Clevenger and I counted 16 others in 2020. My question is. How could injuries like this be avoided and why did this happen? How is it other pitchers have long careers with no issues? Is it mechanics? Is there something they all have in common? Either the elbow position when at release point? or too much scap loading or the recovery process or diet or the pitch count, or is it something else? There has to be a common factor. Just wondering with everyone doing mechanical analysis how can it not be seen or predicted yet?
@treadathletics
@treadathletics 3 года назад
There are too many variables to pin an injury on one mechanical flaw. Throwing hard is a huge risk factor in and of itself. I don't have much that I would change about Dustin May's delivery. But you simply don't know what was going on behind the scenes - tissue quality, workload, recovery, etc.

YOU DO HAVE SOME FREAKS OF NATURE LIKE NOLAN RYAN! YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THROWING OVERHAND IS NOT A NATURAL MOTION. PUTS ALOT OF TORK AND PRESSURE ON THE ARM AND SHOULDERS!!

I have the feeling that he will strikeout many guys... Bauer might help him with the pelican grip or the name of what he and Cole used 😂😂

why does his sinker move so much though?
@SheLuvsShawn

Release point and spin axis. The ball comes off the fingers at an angle thus creating that movement

Dude is literally the size of an NBA player he needs to put in atleast 60 pounds, Giancarlo Stanton & Aaron Judge are the same height range and they weight 60-100 pounds more than him
