How Does Mutate Work?┃MTG For Beginners 

Small correction at the start: Mutate says target (non-Human) creature you _own,_ not control. Doesn't need to be on your side of the board so long as it's your creature you're mutating onto, if your opponent gained control of one of your creatures for example, you could mutate onto it (unlikely you would want to do so, unless they 'borrowed' a very strong creature and you wanted to mutate it into something a bit less strong). Do note that if you mutate onto a creature under an opponent's control, they get all of the mutate effects as well. Also relevant: if you took control of one of _their_ creatures, you can't mutate onto it, since it's under your control but you don't own it.

Question. If paradise druid has a creature mutate on top of it is that creature hexproof now? The wording is paradise druid has hexproof. But the mutation would named whatever it is called because its on the top. How does that work?

So when you placed the spider on the egg does the +1/+1 counter that was on the egg before carry over to the spider now or is that lost?

mutate, while still costs commander tax, doesn't increase the commander tax. playing a mutate deck is fun, but has a flaw that has always bothered me. it doesn't play well against aggressive decks
