UConn guard Paige Bueckers is set to return to school for the 2024-25 season. What does this mean for the 2024 WNBA Draft? What about the 2025 WNBA Draft? And how much does Bueckers elevate the Huskies ceiling for next season?

Bueckers has the best shooting form of any college women’s player. Her jump shots are classic true jump shots. She releases her shot at the top of the jump. She doesn’t jump and shoot simultaneously. Her fall away jumper is executed perfectly, tremendous athleticism. She might be a better scorer in the pro’s than Clark will be.

Agreed. (Speaking from the perspective of international play) I think the U.S. never has a shortage of scorers, but it needs a great "floor general", and Bueckers (if she can stay healthy) will be that player. She will lead the U.S. to multiple gold medals in the future.

NIL is putting the finishing touches on the failed product known as the WNBA. If I was in college today and could play at the next level in WBB, I'd stay in college as long as I could and then go play overseas where US players have so much value that teams can only have a certain number on their rosters. And the money is much better and so is fan support. I've been up to my eyeballs in WBB at the high school and college levels for 3 decades; but I stopped watching the WNBA before 2010. I don't watch it now, I don't miss it, and I can probably only name a handful of players who have been playing for quite awhile.

Players that are coming out in the WNBA Draft are not in competition with only with players coming out in their draft year. They're also in competition with players who have come out in previous years who have gone overseas refined their games and are now ready. Many players that shine in college often times struggle in the WNBA. Their has to be something special about you as a player that translates to the professional game like being able to consistently make shots even against physical opposition or the ability to run a WNBA offense seamlessly and make players better(Pure PG ). Combo guards & tweeners (I Mean The Person's Skillz ) seem to have a tougher time sticking with teams in their initial rookie year because they don't meet the requirements of what teams in the WNBA need. For instance in the league they want smaller guards 5'9 and below to be able to pressure the ball 94 feet and be disrupters defensively ie... Dana Evans ( Chicago ) and Ari McDonald ( Atlanta Last Year ) So a smaller guard may run a team in college well but not make a roster because they have some else in mind who is a better defender. In WNBA overseas players are a major part of talent acquisition; as teams are not tied draft slots because of money like in the NBA. That's why you get players drafted high and now out of the league, and on the flip side a player like Sika Kone drafted late by New York and a year later picked up by Chicago and earned major minutes in playoff time. She might be one of the top players in the WNBA in 3 years. This young lady is the same age or younger than people who are coming out in this draft.

yep. all great points. As a big Iowa Hawkeye fan has been real fun watching Clark, but ppl need to curb their expectations of her game in the WNBA. She has a chance to do great things, but she will struggle at first. Kelsey Plum did as well.

The most important thing about UCONN is that the championship program we have here in CT has not changed since all of the injuries. We often have 30 to 40 points (5 players) sitting on the bench. But, look how the program is going this year in spite of that! Many UCONN fans I know understand the most important thing about playing successful basketball. That is that there is no "I" in the word team. We don't need or want a Caitlin Clark who has never led her team to a National Championship. Yes, we have our outstanding players like Diana, Sue, Maya and Paige! But, the difference is, especially Paige, these are TEAM players! In fact, Coach has to keep reminding Paige (during games) to shoot and to stop passing the ball. She's an amazing person and an incredible basketball player. She's loved by all because of who she is. Paige passing the ball (in excess) to others is who she is. She's a team player. The difference between IOWA and UCONN is we have 11 National Championship banners hanging from the ceiling at Gampbel Pavillion the home of UCONN basketball. It will take another 10 years for any team, ANY TEAM, to catch up to UCONN.

@@anthonytaylor7928 Many seem to forget that only 2 years ago UConn was playing for the NCAA title, a match they lost but which with Dorka on the field could have taken a different turn. Same situation in 2017, when Kate Lou was injured before the final. But this is sport and you have to accept it. In the recent period UConn has always been constantly at the top, final four or eight, therefore a successful program always a point of reference. In the last two years, injuries have made it impossible to evaluate the actual strength of the team, so to say that we live on the memories of past glories is inaccurate. Of course the title was missed, but if you judge it a failure, think about how many programs would have signed up to have the same failures as UConn

@@user-xk9dl8xw8l folks always talk about their injuries and azzi fudd this and that but when azzi fudd is healthy and goes up against good competition she's like a deer in the headlights just a spot up shooter and u UConn fans always bragg about Nika muhl and her defense and assists.nika and Paige can't keep up with fast guards they chasing a five foot guard freshman hildago for Notre Dame all over the court heck it was mad hilarious at times. Also if u notice nika has more shot attempts in the last few games because she overpasses to dam much instead of taking the open looks that's were all those assists come from that u UConn fans bragg about.its over uconn and Tennessee the show is over it's too much new blood all over this country it's a new day so use all of the excuses u want to the womens game has evolved for the better

It’s pretty naive to think of Caitlyn Clark as a non team player… just because she’s so good all offense goes through her, does not mean she’s not a team player. She constantly credits her teammates, always putting winning above personal achievements… exactly what more would you want in a team player? She does not have the best defensive stats, that’s about her only downside.

Where do have Liz Kitley going in the draft and do you think she will make the roster? Also, seeing that Kitley and King will be done at VA Tech, do you think Amoore will return or declare?
@HunterCruse14
@HunterCruse14 3 месяца назад
She could end up going late-first round due to various players returning to school, though that’s probably a little high for me. With Amoore, I know she made comments on her pod about potentially returning to school. I’d lean 60/40 she goes back to VT.

Great video. Bueckers should have gone to the WNBA in 2024, especially since its renegotiating a new media deal which will be very lucrative thanks to the incoming wave of rookies (Clark, Brink, Reese, etc.).

I think it’s possible that Paige returns that second year if they don’t win the title next year. And Paige wanted to play together and if they don’t have an injury free year together, I’ll bet she stays. I think one reason that she might come out is if she’s projected the number one pick and Minnesota has it.

The way UCONN has so many "season ending" injuries, I would think she should leave. It's really a mess at UCONN with their program. Play 10-15 games and then be injured the rest of the season is normal.
