kranser The body has to detect that cells have been taken over to know that it has been infected. It then has to develop the correct antibodies for the infection and then produce enough to deal with the infection. The first time you are infected it takes a while for the body to develop and produce enough antibodies, if you are infected by the same virus again the body has a much more potent, rapid and long lasting response. The second response is so strong that you wouldn't even feel the effect of the infection which is why it is said you can only be infected by the same virus once.
