There is an absolute priority. just not the way you mention. Buy offers: account 1: 10k dragon bones account 2: 10k dragon bones account 3: 10k dragon bones Then there come the sellers: seller 1: 145 bones seller 2: 7k bones seller 3: 5k bones seller 4: sells 5k bones in 2 parts, 1k and 4k Offers fill as following: account 1: 145/10k dragon bones account 2: 7k/10k dragon bones account 3: 10k/10k dragon bones
What's the source on the GE going round-robin like this on offers? I wouldn't expect that (I don't think any IRL exchanges work that way), and it doesn't match what the forum post says.
You don't have to replace the offers if they go inactive. Simply logging in will activate them again. Done this on plenty of f2p rune flipping accounts
I am pretty sure the GE offers are implemented with priority queues ( a type of programming construct, which would mean order of offers does matter). The reason why instant offers work is because this construct allows you to "peak" at the top offer in the queue. If it matches it will be instant. if it does not, it will be added to the buy or sell queue.
Well put together video. Just one correction: I don't think you need to relist inactive listings to continue for them to buy. I log off for literal months at a time sometimes- it's planned in advance, an I put in buy offers for literally millions of items. I have noticed that if I dont log in for a bout a week, things stop buying temporarily- but they always continue to buy automatically if I begin logging in again regularly, and I never change the offers in anyway.
Because of the cycling matching algorithm (both buy and sell sides) as described by woutercross (it is not FIFO, pro-rata, or random), you can split your offers over multiple slots to have your expected time to fill lower, but this has a trade off of missing more slots (assuming a fixed # of accounts..) with which you can use to lower your variance of overall portfolio (also, since the ticks are 1 gp each, there is a pretty high likelihood someone will put a new order above your bid price, for items with a higher price than e.g. low level runes).
That's what I do and what anybody who's been flipping for more than a month should too, can't believe there's ambiguity surrounding this, it happens to me daily and has done for years lol.
I'm fairly new so forgive me if this is a stupid question. There are a lot of RS servers, does the grand exchange search the whole game i.e every server for the best price or is it limited to the server you put the offer on? Basically is it in your best interests to join one that has a lot of players on it?
Been selling mithril 2h for 5k and other pking gear on GE for way over spot. Mithchain - 900 on ge, sell for 3k - F2p Smither for fun, 1k profits vs cost of 800.
No, you don't have to cancel and put in the offer again if you don't log in within 7 days. Both my F2P flipping farm, and my RS3 accounts get offers completed without me actively reactivating them, even when I've left the accounts for 8-30 days. All I've needed to do is log in.
No. My point is that they continue to buy/sell after I've logged in to make sure the offer is still active, but I don't have to put in the offer again. Leave offer for 8+ days without logging in, incomplete when I log in, log off without aborting and relisting the offer, come back next week and the offer is completed.
I flipped a stupid amount of bowstrings, bought at about 10% down on street and sold for a price that wasn't street value for more than 2 months later about 50%+ (checking the historic graphs) so how did I sell over 100k bowstrings and 200k other items 3 months after I last logged in when the prices were most likely not met till months later? Because the offers are always active.
I could of swore the GE used to update prices based on how many units of that item were sold and would not update until that quantity was met. Did they change it?
Yes, if the items isn't traded enough for a true representation of the price, or you'd some stupid manipulating on rarely traded items, this was abused like a bitch with coinshare but you can warn Jagex all day long and I have in the past, do they care... no, game integrity means very very little to them.
2:32 "If you have an offer which is simply idling in the Grand Exchange, you are never going to get more or less than the amount you put it in for." Really? I thought if you hit the buy limit, once that was cleared you would be matched with the best bid/best offer again and potentially get the refund. Maybe you meant to exclude that with "simply idling"?
I'm new and i'm having trouble understanding everything about this game. I don't understand how a seller and buyer can agree on the exact same thing because what if the amount of the item sold is a very random number and they are asking for a very random price like 1,258 or something. How do those offers get accepted?
what are you talking about offer inactivity, in rs3 i had a set of vyrewatch clothing selling for 750k and i only ever checked it once and it was months after i placed it
That's what I was thinking on OSRS I logged out for 3 months and had overpriced sell offers in...they all sold about 300,000 items at what was for the 2 months prior to me logging in were marked up by a minimum of 50% of street values, yeah a few thousand of one stack might sell, not everything at such an absurd margin.
Lots of mmo games could really learn from runescapes and implement similar trading systems because most of the time they are so trash compared to runescapes
runescapes very open economy where almost everything is tradable only works because runescape's progression is so long and getting rich is baked into the game's endgame. If you transplanted it onto almost any other MMO it would be an absolute catastrophe.
Why is it so impossible to find a video on how to use this damn thing?😂 I have found tons of videos on how it works, but none of them have even mentioned how to even open the damn menu😂I don't even know if it's a menu or an actual place I'm supposed to go to. I've been trying to figure this out for 2 days now. Also, I would ask in game chat, but you have to play for like 30 years first or some shit before you can use game chat😂
Not sure if I'm believing you about offers becoming inactive. I've played for 3 days straight and couldn't get even 1 bought of a particular item, so I didn't play for 3 weeks and had over 5K bought on my next log in. And.... ge tracker is for Noobs..
