Another thing to consider between the Kowa 66 and the ATS 65, is that the ATS has the WA eyepiece that maxes out at 50x. The TE11-WZ Kowa is 60x and has an even wider apparent FOV. It also has the ability to run the 1.6x extender, to reach 96x, which is completely usable under the right atmospheric conditions. For something like sheep hunting, those attributes clearly win out over the ATS 65.

Thats awesome man, i was leaning toward the swaro but after what I've watched and this comment. Completely no-brainer, and people bugging about another 1000 dollars, you're already paying a lump some regardless out of these 4 spotters. 66a has my vote, and 1.6x extender just to have it, very nice.

I always preferred the Leica or Zeiss scopes over the older Swarovski scopes but also on the binoculars with the Ultravid vs the ELs . I recently bought a pair of the 8x42 BD11XDs due to the huge field of view , and Wow !! For the money , they are incredible . Ive been an avid wildlife watcher for over 20years and worked for the RSPB for over 4 years .

I’m glad I found this video because I’ve been waiting for someone to make this comparison review. Excellent work..

Really appreciate the video. On my moose hunt one year we had 4 spotting scopes side by side like your doing. No charts, but animals across the valley. Swarovski, leica, fujinon, and Zeiss. It was agreed the Zeiss was hands down clearer, better in all ways. I’m very interested in this kowa. Have you compared to the Zeiss? At the time I told myself it was best, but I haven’t looked through the kowa. PS we all agreed lieca binocs were awesome

Great, informative video. I think it's worth mentioning that the TSN-773/774 units are discontinued, and Kowa no longer has ANY left. Only ones left, would be what dealers still have in stock.

great test and review. Wonder though why the eyepieces are not twisted up to give a more relaxed view. Kowa have a 3 or 4 turn twist up function that works great. I'm only bird watching and use 99A or an older 883, still holding its own ground firmly

Fantástica prueba. Pagar el doble por Swarowsky no merece la pena ,salvo que quieras algo por su gran precio. Kowa es muy bueno y lo demuestra en toda su gama. Gracias desde España.

Great review. I’ve heard you comment on improvements of the ATS in last couple years. Any opinions if the STS has seen the same uptick?

Thank you gentlemen. Been looking hard at the 77 for awhile, for the 7 oz penalty between it and the 66 it's gonna be hard to justify the cost difference I believe. Super valuable content, much appreciated.

Glad you enjoyed it! From our stand point, since the 77mm has been discontinued, its no longer an option.

The old 663/664 was not Fluorite crystal. This new TSN-66 is Fluorite

Kowa spotters with alpha glass (anything called Prominar) have one of two different kinds of Fluorite lenses. The TSN-3/4/823/824/663/664/773/774 all have main objective elements with Calcium Fluorite (CaFl) glass. This is glass made of sand and some amount of CaFl blended in. The newer models TSN-553/554/66A/66S/883/884/88A/88S/99A/99S all have the main objective lens element made of Pure CaFl crystal, which instead of being made in a glass making process is grown as a crystal.

@@SteveO4Bthe tsn3,4, 823,824 have been fluorite crystal since launch. Do you have any way to back your statement up? The 773 is some variant of ed glass. Certainly not the same as the fantastic 823,4 As to this videos comparisons, it's expected for larger objective size to show better resolution and impossible for a smaller scope to win on exit pupil other factors being the same. Fluorite isn't magic but it's great stuff.

whithout showing the picture quality to us, its pointless and subjective.

Yes this was a subject opinion. However, I hope you realize that showing the views from the scopes is really impossible as the views from each scope would be filtered and distorted through what ever device they would film the views through and then would be filtered and distorted through your viewing device (tablet, phone, computer screen). Anything we would see from the scope views this way would not be a true representation of the clarity, color, or brightness of any of the scopes and honestly could alter the actual views quite significantly. Really the best way to compare the scopes would be for you to look through each scope yourself. Best wishes to you.

That would be like listening to a pair of high end stereo speakers on youtube. It won't mean anything.

Another great video. Thank you. I'm curious as to why you didn't have the ATS 80 along those scopes? Being that you had the 77 up there with similar objective size and weight. Obviously the price is different. Just curious as to how you thought it would have stacked up? Thanks
