HOW DOES THE MAGLEV TRAIN WORK?

Magnetic levitation, or Maglev for short, is a rail transportation system in which two sets of magnets are used. In the maglev system, one of the magnet clusters pushes the train up the rails, while the other magnet cluster takes advantage of the absence of friction force to push the train forward.
The first patent for maglev trains was taken by James Powell and Gordon Danby in the 1960s. While continuing his daily life, Powell thinks about how to improve the traffic flow by starting from a simple traffic problem and reveals the working logic of Maglev trains. In fact, the operation of the system is based on the logic that we all know, equal poles repel each other. As a result of the magnets under the maglev trains and the electromagnets on the train tracks repel each other, the train stops on the rail without touching anything. In this way, after the train is lifted into the air, electric current is given to the coils and repulsive and attractive magnetic fields are created that will enable the progress along the rail. As the train advances a little, the polarity of the electromagnets on the rails changes and the same arrangement is restored. This creates a continuous movement.
Since the maglev train is not in contact with the rails, it moves through the air, minimizing friction. In this way, train travel is made at very high speeds with low friction and aerodynamic designs.
Magnets are placed at the 4 corners of the Maglev train. Due to the use of superconducting magnets, these magnets must be cooled down to -267 °C. These magnets can produce magnetic fields 10 times stronger than ordinary magnets. In addition, thanks to these magnets, the train moves on the rails at a height of 1-10 cm.
