Traction control sucks in deep snow when momentum is your friend and it takes power from your wheels causing you to get stuck, not every situation is right scenario for traction control. Also engine braking down hill on ice with traction control on is dangerous as it will free wheel as if you are in neutral if it feels slippage causing vehicle to dangerously speed up, I learned this from personal experience. Turned around and tried same hill again with TC off and vehicle stayed on engine brake even as it was slightly slipping on ice which kept the vehicle from speeding up out of control.

Some people love it and some people hate it. We find there is a certain driving discipline that allows for it to work well. Most drivers want to floor it instead and that does not work well together.

Traction control does not shift the vehicle into 4 wd for you. The button just allows you to turn it off temporarily in 2wd or 4hi.
