A little advice: instead of walking you can use the jump bike to provoke encounters. Hold b when on a grass patch, and eventually a Pokemon will appear. This is great to avoid wasting steps in the Safari or when under repel.

this brought back so many memories. in my childhood I had emerald, had almost every pokemon, only missing feebas and milotic, game ended up being stolen so I could never finish it

Plusle and Minun aren’t actually version exclusives. Minun has a lower encounter rate in Sapphire and Plusle has a lower encounter rate in Ruby.

You should *REALLY* prepare yourself for the Sinnoh one... I also tried to catch every pokemon in sinnoh dex 2 years ago and it was a *pain* in the ass... Anyway, nice video!

How easily can you make these videos?

I never realized how hard it is to catch feebas... in my original play through of ruby I came across it by chance after only trying ONE fishing spot just trying to see if there were any new Pokémon in the area

I never really say this but holy shit. You make so of, if not the out right best, pokemon content I've ever watched. This video, the layout, editing, amazing humor, and great presentation kept me entertained the entire 43 minutes. Amazing work.

I really like imagining this as three different trainers all racing to fill out their Pokedexes first. Your referring to Ruby, Saphire, and Emerald in the third person makes this 10x easier

I remember going to GameStop and getting a used emerald for my GB advanced and MAN did I hit the jackpot! All lvl 100 legendary and random assortment of pokemon.

This series inspired me to try out this challenge on my own in Pokemon X, and I did not realise how deep that rabbit hole went until it was too late. Before the second badge almost half of the pokedex is available, so many lvl 40+ evolutions, even a couple at lvl 50. Exp share and the Battle Chateau helps but still really tedious. Also the Zigzagoon strategy you used here is still viable in X and Y, saves you a lot of money on super potions and great and ultra balls. I always put this playlist on while I'm grinding in X, love your stuff!

hi Johnstone! I really like your series :) i just have one small tip/complain: I am not from UK/USA but from Germany. Therefore, the Pokemons I know have different names than yours. It would help me (and maybe also others) if you would cut the clips in which you catch a Pokemon in a way that you show the picture/look of the Pokemon instead only the catched Pokeball. I know that you do this sometimes in the video, but only sometimes. For other Pokemons you just name them and show the Pokeball. I hope it is understandable what I want to suggest. Besides this, I really enjoy your videos. Great work. Please keep going/doing!

If anyone like me is randomly coming back to this video to try and complete it for yourself, Jirachi can be obtained in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl as long as you have Sword/Shield game data on your Switch, and Deoxys can be obtained at the end of the Delta Episode in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. No way to trade them back to the GBA unfortunately, but you can at least have the knowledge that you have every Hoenn Pokemon caught.

You can also catch the three gen 2 starters when you have a complete pokedex in emerald so thats another 6 total pokemon he could have got.

As for Jirachi it can also be easily gotten from pokemon channel. (EU version iirc)

I love how easy it is to catch poochyena in this game... I could catch 100 of them in idk, an hour or so?? It took me AGES to get the poochyena swarm on SoulSilver, when I finally did I caught like 90 lol. On pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky, so far I've recruited 76, and that took SO LONG. You can't just CATCH pokemon in mystery dungeon, you gotta defeat them and HOPE they ask to join your team, which is random. Also poochyena is sooooooooo hard to find, they are in 3 dungeons, only 3, and ridiculously rare to encounter. I'm a dedicated poochyena fan

I remember freaking out about catching a Kyogre with a great ball while it was in yellow health.

In omega ruby and alpha sapphire, after u beat the elite 4 a second time; then go back to the sky tower, where u caught rayquaza, there will be a triangle that if u interact with it, will trigger a fight with deoxys. (This is all post game), u have to already have beaten the elite four

When i played these games as a kid. Feebas was the one Pokemon that stopped me from completing the whole Pokedex.

I could not fathom why you didn't catch Skarmory in Route 113, but you're only catching only Hoenn 'mons. Makes SO much more sense now.

I remember that you found a slakoth but you didn't catch it because it was male. You could've kept it and traded it for the trade makuhita who has boosted exp and has guts. You can't get this In emerald though. The trade makuhita can beat Norman which really helps.

I know it's just a joke, but as a scientist, being the most knowledgeable means getting to know the hyperactive, aggressive, and extremely difficult to tame pokemon too. Also, Poochyena as a pokemon species chases its prey until the prey tires out as a part of its hunting tactic, so considering how domesticated species act, the professor could've even just been in the process of taming this poochyena and it was being "playful" by chasing him under instinct. Fun bullshit about Pokemon, brought to you by science and analysis!

I found a ralts first try when i played sapphire

Um Plusle and Minin are not version exclusives you can catch both in each game. Yes in Sapphire plusle has a higher chance to appear but if you keep it up in searching in each game you can find the opposite. And yes in Ruby it is minin who is easier to find but just like Sapphire if you hunt long enough you can find the other. And in Emerald both plusle and minin have an equal chance of being encountered.
