Thank you soooo much for the link to the Battle Frontier Trainer List! I am currently stuck with 4 Stars and failed too often there... You make the most awesome videos on YT.
4:33 assuming your doing this from scratch, you’re gonna want to use SS for these two, because the combination of HG, FR, and sapphire are all lacking vulpix, and vice versa is true for growlithe
Seeing as the “all icons” category on speedrun.com is like 11 hours and that’s just visiting every legendary, it’d be around 15 hours but seeing that video would be cool. What’d be cooler is seeing how fast he can recruit all Pokémon. The world record is like 67 hours but that’s someone with a guide, but with Johnstone, idk if he has speedrunning experience so it’d be a fun video to see
Good luck! In rescue team, you can’t recruit fully evolved Pokémon so let’s say you’re going for the Bulbasaur line, you’ll need 1 Bulbasaur and 2 Ivysaur as well as leveling up an Ivysaur to level 32 I think when it evovles
"There could be a cheaper alternative to obtaining the games." Me, an intellectual: Yeah, buying them as they released and never getting rid of them lol.
Me, an intellectual: Yeah, that's called piracy and if you get caught (which admittedly is unlikely) you can be fined and sent to jail. Better to play it safe than sorry. Also, you spelled intellectual wrong sooooooo, yeah.
The basic trainer card is actually harder to get in the Johto remakes than it is in the other games. In the other games, the only criteria is existing, however in the Johto remakes if you want to get access to the basic trainer card you have to also walk down some stairs.
I accidentally did it with my Bellossom, Mary Jane. This was the same Nuzlocke where I managed to get the extra master ball from the radio tower and randomly found a shiny slowpoke while I was grinding. I still have that save file and play it occasionally.
If you struggle with the battle tower, try this tactic: Team: Latios (@Choice Scarf)(a speedy nature helps) -- Trick -- Thunder Wave -- Recover -- Charm Registeel (@Leftovers) -- Substitute -- Curse -- Amnesia -- Iron Head Garchomp (@Lum Berry) (Jolly or speedy nature helps) -- Substitute -- Swords Dance -- Outrage -- Earthquake When the battle starts, you immediately use Trick to transfer the Choice Scarf to the opponent's pokemon, locking him into the first move he uses in battle. Depending on what that move is, you resume a certain strategy. If the opponent is locked in a physical move, use Thunder Wave and 3x Charm if possible, while Recovering when needed. If it's a low PP special move (eg. Fire Blast or Hydro Pump), use the same Thunder Wave + 3x Charm tactic, because after his low PP runs out, the opponent will begin to Struggle for physical damage. A high PP special move just needs a Thunder Wave if possible. If any of the aforementioned scenarios take place, use the corresponding setup and switch to Registeel. If the opponent gets locked in a non-damaging move, switch to Garchomp after an optional Thunder Wave. With Registeel, start with Substitute and immediately start boosting your stats with 6x Curse and 3x Amnesia, while replacing your Substitute when needed. The more you boost, the longer the fights take, but the smaller the risk of Battle Tower luck hax screwing you over. Registeel will tank almost anything, certainly when fully boosted. Most pokemon won't even be able to break his Subsitute. When you are confident that your stat boosts will be able to sweep the rest of the enemy team, finish off the Scarfed enemy with Iron Head, if it hasn't already finished itself with Struggle by now. Sweep both remaining opponent's pokemon with Iron Head. An opponent locked in a non-damaging move or an electric type move will be much faster to deal with. Switch to Garchomp, have him Substitute + 3x Swords Dance. When fully charged up, use Earthquake on Steel types and Outrage on all the rest. By the time Outrage confuses Garchomp, almost all teams will be already swept by an insanely powerful Outrage. Not always though, so Lum Berry will get you out of confusion for a second round of Outrage, which I haven't seen any team survive. Every battle is different, but this team gives you many options, so you'll have to think about which way is best. What this tactic does is nearly eliminate the infamous Battle Tower hax, which tend to strongly favour the AI RNG-wise. I like how almost any move the AI is likely to use on Latios is resisted by Registeel, it almost never got in trouble, making me feel that I lost control of the battle only 1 or 2 times in a 119 (and counting) win streak.
@@5ashll303 For me it always worked like a charm. Once you get a feeling for which strategy path to follow at each different occasion, you eliminate most of the bad luck that usually screws you over in Battle Tower. And as far as natures, EV's and IV's go, I'd imagine they can help you but are not necessary. The strategy is built around safe and patient plays and lots of stat boosts and substitutes (read: long battles), so I think individual stat differences are marginally important. If you are not confident with your pokemon's stats, just always fully boost up and replace your substitutes immediately.
@@5ashll303 Sure, a speedy nature can be useful, Latios is primarily for setting up so his stats don't matter too much, you can always compensate in EV distribution if you don't feel confident. But know that any special move that hits Latios hard won't do much against Registeel, that's part of the strategy. So if you can get the Trick and Thunder Wave off while using Recover, you'll be fine.
@@Kutsobill Yeah, if I could get a good team for Battle Tower (and let’s be honest, I’d probably use PKHex for the sake of IV’s) I could get 5 stars on Platinum.
I love these gold trainer card videos - such a cool concept in Pokemon games that goes way overlooked. HG/SS had probably the best one, with the Pokeathlon achievements and the shiny leaves. Makes me want to dust off my copy of SoulSilver and try to do it myself!
The johto campaign is 6-8 hours? Bro I played the Johto part of HGSS and took 25 hours. Granted I did the Voltorb casino minigame in Goldenroad for Dratini that took maybe 2 hours.
Oh, I've had Heart Gold since I was maybe 8 or 9 and I never really took notice of the trainer card stars. I never put much thought into what the stars meant and since I grew up without internet and none of my friends had HH/SS games I just kinda forgot they existed til I found my old save with I think three stars on it as few months back.
“Normally cost around $50~&60” oh how I wish that were still true. Was able to get myself HG for $50 like 2~3 years ago but recently bought SS for around $100+
“How easily can you catch every Pokéwalker Pokémon?” This vid would make me happy Not implying that I’m mad or anything, just thought of it because I use one sometimes
“Takes the average player 6 to 8 hours to get to lance” is it bad I play so meticulously that I on average play at least 40 hours before I get to the elite 4 in Pokémon games?
I've been trying to get the battle tower streak, but twice I've died on battle 49, and once on battle 62. The losses just before you get BP are the most frustrating.
How sad watching in 2024 only one copy of HG will cost more then $200 if it comes with the pokewalker 😢 what a shame didn’t make the purchase 4 years ago when I first watched the video.
I am at 2/5, completed the pokeathlon and im working on a decent team for battle tower, never even knew anything about shiny leafs and completing the national dex is imposible since i only have ss and diamond, seems like ill be stuck at 4 stars forever
Those Heart gold and soul silver prices seem abit low :p the cheapest PAL version I found was 65$ with a few days left to bid, the 2nd cheapest was around 150$ so... I guess the Pandemic prices are getting out of hand.
I love these types of challenges. Being able to see your trainer card gives everyone a perspective as to how long this can take for you to make these videos. Started his adventure on August 11th. It shows how devoted you are to making your content. I envy your constant hustle.
Hey, would just like to let you know that the link to the battle frontier trainers is broken, it needs another ')' at the end of the link (which I believe is sitting next to the link you have in plain text).
How easily can you complete the pokedex via only surprise & link trades? You can breed and evolve to make it not take an even more abhorrently tedious and long task.
I got my 5-star card two days ago. It's really satisfying. TRIVIA: if you get a 4-star card, you get a different dialogue when you heal your pokémon at the Pokemon Center.
Problem: the game combinations in mind prevent you from getting the opposite of either Groudon or Kyogre. Groudon is version exclusive to Soul Silver, and can’t be caught in Sapphire. If I’m wrong someone please tell me what to do in this case.
I noticed that same problem as well as the problem that with heartgold you would still also be missing Mawile, teddiursa and ursaring and with soulsilver you would still also be missing sableye, gligar, gliscor, growlithe and arcanine. So I came up .with another solution which is that no matter which game you have the other games you need are diamond, pearl and emerald (emerald covers gligar, mawile, sableye, teddiursa, ursaring, kyogre and groudon as well as any other Pokémon that were required by the games that I removed). However if you are using soulsilver you will also need firered because emerald does not have growlithe or arcanine which are version exclusive to heartgold and can only be obtained in diamond and pearl using firered in the GBA slot and no other generation 3 or 4 game has growlithe or arcanine besides heartgold and firered and I just figured that it would probably be cheaper to get firered over heartgold and also a different game to play through rather than the same thing just for two Pokémon. Hope this helped you!
I'd be interested to see something with one of the Mystery Dungeon games! Even a "catch" 'em all would be cool, and a nice twist from the usual content!
I think that a cool idea for a video would be one where you go over the cheapest combinations of games needed to complete the national dex in every gen (except gen 8 obviously)
