When I heard the stuff about PEGI I couldn't help but burst into laughter with everything that's happening right with real-life gambling with real money in AAA games like Fifa and NBA2K20

I honestly think the pokemon game corner helped me not to gamble. As a kid I realized it was easier and more likely to get money by just working for it battling than trying my "luck"

I love how these challenges really differs in insanity. Sometimes he does a incredibly insane challenge, then takes a slightly easier one for the next one to relax a bit. And sometimes he just takes one torturous challenge after another

I used to love voltorb flip, until I decided to grind for early good TMs in every play through. watching that segment of your video felt like a fever dream.

19:37 Fun fact: The level you are sent to is based on how many cards you flip in a given level. Say for instance you are at level 5. If you flip 3 number cards then a voltorb, you are sent to level 3. If you flip 1 number card then a voltorb, you are sent to level 1. But, if you flip 5+ cards then a voltorb, you remain at level 5. I’ve never read this anywhere I kind of just figured it out by playing the game overtime.

The FR/LG slots aren't pre-determined, they actually rely solely on the game's slot pattern and when you press the button. It's lagless, so as soon as you tap A, the reel stops. From personal testing, you can look at the 7s rolling and you can time them pretty reliably. On a recent playthrough, I got 5 777s in 13 tries, and some close calls.

Fun fact: John now has a raging gambling addiction.

Voltorb flip is my favorite minigame I think out if any game I've played. I love how stimulating it is for your mind and the fact that it's a Pokemon game too blows me away. Love HGSS

As a kid I loved the slot machines. just the thought of getting a Dratini in Gold so early and leveling it up to a Dragonite right away to sweep the rest of the games seemed like so much fun!!! I still like slot machines in video games. but for the life of me I will not play them in real-life cause you'll only lose money.

When I was playing on a Super Gameboy, I got on a roll with one of the machines, realized it was in a higher payout mode, and then proceeded to hook up a turbo controller mashing the A button all night while I slept. A Porygon wouldn't have otherwise been possible when I was a kid! I repeated this in GSC and it was fantastic. To others wanting to do this challenge, I suggest playing on Super Gameboy with a turbo controller!

You can absolutely time the slots in FRLG. My understanding is that there is limited slip in the slots, and you aren't "allowed" to win on every roll, but timing still has an impact on the outcomes. I think that playing the slots is significantly faster than chaining E4 runs. I've earned several thousand coins in an hour of play. The free coins you can get are usually enough to get the ball rolling.

I got my Dratini in SS after the first gym thanks to me being a bit excessiv with the Pokewalker... I loved that thing!!! HG/SS are the best games ever!

From experience, I can guarantee that the slot machines in Fire Red and Leaf Green are the best. Timing is the key. Every time I restart it, I get enough coins to get TM Shadow Ball, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt in less than an hour. OH! and the best way to grind for money in FRLG is by going to Five Island and battle over and over the two Ladies next to the Lost Cave with the VS Seeker + Amulet Coin. One trainer gives you $19,600 and the other one a bit more. They only have two or three Pokemon and they're low level so each battle should only last a minute or two. Hope that helps someone!

I remember the hours i put into leaf green casino. I got really good at slots and won the 777 5 times in a row i could win a 777 within 10 mins on the hour. Still took a long time.

Starting way back in Red & Blue, I always wondered if there was a reason to have so many slot machines in the game centre. Maybe that meant there was an in game secret and if you played certain machines in the correct order, you could follow a path of getting maximum prize payouts. I wasted a lot of time chasing that theory...

As a guy that works on slot machines for a living, I’m stoked for this video

FRLG game corner in my experience, seems to randomize it's lucky machines every time you enter the building and every time you spin a certain, seemingly random number of times. You can find a lucky machine and then have it go cold on you. The lucky machines are really good though. I usually try a machine about 3 times, and if I don't win anything I move on. If I do, I play it until I lose 3 times in a row, or 5 times in a row if the machine has already produced a jackpot. Doing this can reliably net you coins relatively quickly, and you can reliably buy Porygon using more real world time (about ten hours) and less in game money, so it's wherever your priorities lie

another great vid! As a kid I really liked the game corners. I didn't realize it was gambling because honestly it is just like so many kids game. Kids do not know that it is solely a game of chance vs skill in some cases. Like chess, cards, slot machines, darts, etc all seem the same in chance. I mean the game banks on rng to get prizes anyways idk how a shiny machine makes it so different. I am almost 30 and have never felt ANY need for gambling, betting, wasting money.

In Gen 4 you get the Explosion TM for having the Clefairy stay for 10 of the bonus rounds. So, that's another prize. It's pretty much pure luck if the Clefairy stays (more chance depending on the type: ditto < normal < shiny)

I specifically remember their being the fact you could stop when you wanted and eventually i was able to get 7's always.

Last times I played through gen 1 games, I wanted multiple pokemon or TMs at the game corner and there is a trick! If you go through all the machines, playing 3 or more games youll find the lucky one. Which pays much more than the coins you lost looking for it. When that machines stops giving out for 5ish rolls, you start the cycle again, looking for the new lucky machine. I was really surprized how much this works!

What about getting the TM for explosion in Veilstone's game corner? It's a prize for getting 10+ bonus rounds in a row

the HGSS voltorb game is great. i played it a lot and basically figured it out all the way. i learned to not look for voltorb but instead look for the 2x and 3x tiles because they can be determined by looking for the numbers on top to see what rows have profit in them. its skill based and mentally challenging
