I set mine up about ten weeks before season and touch it up nicely under a tree like a pine or hemlock

Ground blinds are very effective. I set mine up in the summer way ahead of the season. I try to air them out for a good week before they go into the woods too. If they are brand new, i air them out for a month in my back yard. Personally, I think some of the bad wrap and bad experiences hunters get using them is the smell of the blind and not so much the sight of it. When I drop mine in I have cameras in the area. The cameras don't lie. The deer activity just seems to go on like normal. You just can't expect to unbox a blind from off the store shelf and it not have any odor. They all have some sort of stink and if I can smell it with my nose to the fabric, I'm sure the deer can smell it a couple hundred yards away.

I use to doubt blinds too until i started using them. 2 weeks seems to be enough time for deer to start to ignore them. I know of multiple mature deer killed from them. Aslong as their not over hunted and wind is kept in mind they work.

Found out the hard way not to use them in the big woods. Limits your hearing. Had a super nice buck sneak down from behind and saw me move inside my blind.

I've always natural blinds near bedding areas. Just made them natural looking with a brown tarp so I'm protected from above and its covered with leaf matter, dead limbs and whatever I can find. I also build it over time in different areas. That way I have multiple locations close up. Or just off the deer highways.

Gillie suite works better by far off the ground you almost need to cultivate a pretty perfect situation for a blind u have to put it out way in advance u have to brush it in well and you have to leave the windows you want to shoot out open when you leave it to much prep for to little reward

We’ve killed multiple good deer on the day of setting up during gun season. By the time they figure out it’s too late.

I've given up on them for mature Deer, will Turkey hunt from one if I have to, but cannot think of a more boring hunt. Very thick where I Deer hunt, even during Slug my shots are predominantly Bow distance.

I saw a video where the dude was in a tent blind and the big bucks spooked because the windows were opened and the deer knew something wasn't right. The windows were closed when not in use. I also heard you should wear black clothing and blacken your face when you sit in tent blinds
