welcome back to cookie science! today we are comparing using no eggs and double eggs! eggs are very important in cookies and make a huge difference. as always, for this series i am using nestle tollhouse as the base recipe!
For no egg cookies people usually add what is called the "vegetarian egg" which is ground flax seed or chia seed But most of the recipes I've seen on yt use a bit of milk to add that moisture to the eggs Edit: for those of u telling me that vegetarians eat eggs , please search up whether all countries consider eggs as a vegetarian food I grew up in India and here we consider eggs as meat Here's a snippet from an article explaining this"Note that while eggs are vegetarian, they are certainly, under no circumstances, considered vegan. However, in some parts of the world, particularly in India, eggs are indeed considered to be meat, and some vegetarians will not eat them." Please do search these things up before y'all throw hate at me
@@Miniredlights umm no I know this cus half my family is vegetarian Vegetarians don't eat eggs , atleast in my country Vegans don't eat any animal products I don't HV the two mixed up dw Probably we are confused rn cus vegetarian has a different meaning in each of our countries
"This one after adding the eggs and sugar, I went straight to the vanilla, no eggs." It caught me off guard for a second, but overall a good and intuitive video.
Cookies without eggs is exactly how they're made in Europe. I remember being astonished when i first encountered an American cookie recipe and there was eggs in it.
You might be thinking of shortbread biscuits. Actually, come to think of it, most biscuit recipes I know of don’t have eggs in them (I’m Australian but our food is pretty similar to the UK)
The double eggs are what my grandma's cookies looked like! I never got the "grandma's cookies are the best" thing, my dad spent 4 years perfecting his cookie recipe and they're really amazing
Thanks for that! I lost my mom’s old recipe, and I was missing the cake-like effect when my partner makes a random recipe. He is also interested in having a more cake-y type ccc. Now we know what to do about it!
One of my fave cookie recipe has one add egg yolk without its white, and the result is very nice and chewy. Could you do an experiment with whites and yolks proportions?
The no-egg cookies is the kind we had in Europe before internet recipes taught us how to make American cookies. Dry and very bisquit-y. Whenever someone in class whose mom/family were from the US and they brought American soft cookies for their birthday, we were wild with excitement. We would all do the wildest things for the birthday kid just for a 2nd cookie hahahaha
@@jaredjosephsongheng372 cookies and biscuits are different. Cookies are meant to be soft and chewy, biscuits are hard and crumbly all the way through, most similar to the no egg cookie she made, and yeah biscuits don't have eggs
I would just like to add that no-egg-cookie-dough is great. Make it with heat treated flour, and you can skip the baking part altogether, which is great for people like me who want to eat it asap.
What about egg white (only) / egg yolk only / some kind of mix of the two, e.g. 2 egg whites and 1 yolk. I've often seen different combinations of eggs in cookie recipes & always wondered how it would change the taste!
I'd love to see the difference between using yoke and egg white. Like, cookies with only yoke and cookies with only white, but the same amount of liquid.
I’m just saying in experience of having cookies with no eggs because my cousin they sometimes if you do it right you get really big cookies and you can just eat the batter. 😊 And they are super good and chewy.❤
I’m allergic to eggs and to make my cookies instead of adding chia or flax substitutes I add baking soda and vinegar, and cream cheese makes it really yummy too :)
I vote for eggs, all the time! Best breakfast is 3 eggs, fried in butter (not margarine!), taters, onion, garlic, 12 grain bread, ohh have not had this in 3+ years, since COVID.
The level of aggression from Spencer that built with every failed attempt as the talker and then the sass from Noah once Spencer could talk when he was the talker 🤣 dying
Try this cookie recepie: 4oz butter, 4oz light brown sugar, 6oz self-raising flour, 1tbsp golden syrup and 3oz chocolate chips Bake at 160C/320F for 14mins. No eggs needed! Thank me later.
As someone who isnt a big fan of eggs, i would make cookies with no eggs. I dont like cookies sometimes because they have a strong egg aftertaste. Never knew it was an option to not include eggs even tho im not allergic.
I love making cookies and when I’m watching your videos on cookie science it’s so interesting to see the difference ingredients can make. also, what scoop were are using?
Interesting . Egg allergy and intolerance often goes along with gluten and dairy intolerant so no cream cheese either here…. Vegan egg replacer powder works fine
I’m curious to know what using only egg whites would do vs a whole egg. Also if there’s a difference in cracking eggs directly into the batter vs whisking them beforehand to incorporate air
Omg what’s the og cookie recipie I’ve been trying to make cookies like that for forever but they never turn out all crinkly, crispy and soft at the same time
How about doing one on how vanilla extract affects baking/cooking. I use loads of vanilla extract in French toast egg mixture (-pre milk) and in toll house chocolate chip cookies- but not so much in uncooked things like vanilla egg nog shakes and fruit smoothies. Idk maybe it's just how I like it 🤷♀️
Hey, hello, u sound really interested and keen about baking(I also love cooking and trying new recipes lol)...do u have any good recipe for chocolate chip cookie without egg😅
I'm making cookies for my family but my mom doesn't eat eggs. Im looking for the results to look like the 1 egg and to do that many people just add milk to bring it all together. I saw that some people can just use banana but I'm not looking for the banana taste
