glad I did all my skiing in the 80s and 90s....in 99 a season pass to Arapahoe Basin with 5 extra tickets to Vail was less than 300 dollars for CO residents.

Carson city is not far away, it’s a thrilling place, if you have time, interest and the weather permits. There is a red house near zephyr cove place on the Nevada side, it’s a breathtaking view of Tahoe from there too!

My mom lived near Lake Tahoe for a couple of years and she says it's a beautiful place ,many trees and peaceful and of course a lot of snow.

Happy skiing! Our family went to Tahoe a couple of time, but we didn't ski. In the Soviet Union I skied every week with the same feelings.

Ouch those prices hurt. As a young lad I always went to Switzerland with my dad, but thats also way too expensive nowadays unfortunately. Ive heard good things about Slovenia and Bulgaria though. Not sure how much snowfall those ski areas get these days however with the whole climate thing going on.

Many, many years of “No Snow” and truly only the last two, almost three years of Drought relief after seven years of same in CA. ALL that Snow means Water for CA; both Southern CA, since They have Nothing like The Sierra Nevada Catchment; which potentially can even supply AZ and New Mexico with runoff. Almost forever ( modern history) SoCal , especially San Diego has gotten Most of their H20 from AZ and The Colorado River, which went through ITS own Drought period and only relieved the last two years, from a cycle of degradation which was appearing as terminal prior to these past Two Winters and unique seasons of excess snowfall. We lived in MN almost four years; 2000-2004, with zero surplus of snowfall there, yet 1998 (from neighbor out there) “had fifteen foot snowdrifts”; with The Red River having major flooding that Spring. Minnesota snowfall vastly important for those “Land of 10,000 Lakes”.

IMO when we take beginners we go to an inexpensive...less than $100.00 a day place...and always mid week.. less crowds makes everyone feel safer and have more FUN. IMO

The reason I buy multi resort season passes...Ikon, Epic, Max(now discontinued) and Mountain Collective. Some ski towns are awesome and they let me stay in the homeless shelters where I got free laundry, shower and food 😁. The Ikon allows you to take any bus and tram around the whole of Salt lake for free 😁. Such good value if you get the days in and like to travel.

Day tickets for downhill skiing are MUCH CHEAPER in Europe than in the USA! And I believe that ski resorts in Austria, Dolomites or France are also with more quality and more distance of tracks. I have a feeling that USA want more season tickets.

Yeah, those are tourist prices. No one who skis a lot or is a local who lives near a ski resort pays those prices. We all buy season passes and more commonly multiple mountain passes. I buy the Calipass because Dodge Ridge is 15 mins up the road from me and i pay $649 to ski everyday at 4 resorts with another 3 free days at 19 other resorts. The IKON is a popular pass if you live near Palisades Tahoe. $1149 buys you all days at 50 resorts. Only tourists who ski once in awhile pay $250/day. No way most of us Ski Bums would pay those prices. Last season i paid $499 and snowboarded about 130 days.

Staying in North Tahoe one summer over 40 years ago my husband paid for our trip winning at blackjack at the old Cal Neva Lodge. Think the cabins were called The Dunes Resort. Loved Tahoe

I do snowboarding in the alps. It's the best time of the year. 6 dollars for a gallon sounds cheap. Here you wil pay 2 euro per liter

Hi Gabriel, beautiful area to go skiing. I see your doing some Nordic Skiing cross country terrific for conditioning it sounds like you're going to Norway to do some cross-country skiing over when you go there. It's great to find some nature area it's like meditating as you work out through nature. A beautiful place to help resolve issues you may be having very secluded and peaceful with your thoughts.

I learned to ski in the German alps, Garmisch-Partenkirchen 1976. Came home and skied a few more times. That was 45 years ago.

Downhill skiing in the French alps at Val Thorens cost around 55-65 USD for a day pass. Americans are being ripped off paying 100-200 bucks per day for a ski pass. I recently checked the price for a day pass in Whistler Canada BC, it was 200 USD. In North America you've got to be rich to have these kids of hobbies.

Yes Truckee and Tahoe have gotten way to expensive in the last 5-10 years! Me and my wife used to stay at our friend's house in North Lake Tahoe for several days at a time, before they moved away 😞

This is why I prefer to travel internationally than domestically in the US. The prices are exorbitant to the point that middle class families can't afford it. I remembering going on a fantastic white water rafting trip in Peru for all of $20 not that long ago. Here it would have cost me $120! Yea, no thanks USA.

Nope and nope. I've been through there lots of times, hitchhiked from Yosemite to Las Vegas through Death Valley once, but that was long before I was filming, back in '94. Also my grandparents lived in Bishop so we would visit there when I was a kid.

I have a question...a US citizen with valid US passport goes through immigration at Oslo International airport at Norway and then after a stay of two days in Oslo, flies to Zurich International airport for a further stay of two days (at Zurich) so does that US citizen need to go through immigration at Zurich international airport again...?

Good question. No, you shouldn't go through immigration in Switzerland because it's part of the Schengen zone. I flew from Greece to Geneva last year and there was no immigration checkpoint.

IMO it is less than a trip to Disney, less than most cruises. it is an amazing experiance. Hope u try. IMO sometimes the higher prices r for resorts w harder runs....those places r not needed for beginner.

I remember around 2005 getting $50-$75 lift tickets, there were no parking fees, lodge food was expensive but not ridiculous and you could find $50 to $100 a night hotels. Boy have things changed in the last 15 years now a lift ticket is $200 or even alittle more, you might pay a parking fee, resort food is outrageous and good luck finding a hotel for less than $200 to $300 a night. The only way a normal person can afford to ski at Lake Tahoe these days is if they already have all their equipment, they got a season pass on sale the previous summer and they camp, stay with a family member or spend the night in Reno/Sacramento. I think the ski resorts are destroying themselves with their own greed not enough young people are learning to ski because they can't afford it and business will eventually dry up.

Florida is fast becoming as expensive. We’re being hammered with increases in insurance rates with decreases in services and coverage. I’m not as well-traveled as Gabriel, but have seen most of the US and more than a few European countries. California is expensive relative to the American south, but there’s nothing like it that I’ve seen so far. It’s simply indescribable. It’s the only state I’ve revisited for sightseeing and plan to visit again.
