I wanted to show you rather than tell you how expensive switzerland is. Switzerland is known to be one of the most expensive countries in the world. Cost of living is high but salaries are typically higher to account for this. People here live comfortably regardless of the prices shown.

You forgot to mention incomes are higher in Switzerland. The cost of living may be more, but so are wages. The average salary in Switzerland is among the highest in the world.

Hey from the UK, please do not allow awful people to put you off Vlogging. My husband and I are in the process of moving to Switzerland (Lausanne) and your videos have been such a valuable recourse for us. There is so little online from expats in Switzerland, so you’ve been so helpful. Regarding the trolls, i know it’s so easy to say it but just picture how sad they must be that they get their kicks from going online and leaving sh*tty comments on peoples videos.Never ever let them know they got to you, as that’s what feeds them. Check out comparis.ch to get the best rate for monthly health care plus other types of insurances. You can def get cheaper obligatory health care insurance than 320.- per month if you pick the maximum deductible and use the "Hausarzt Modell". If you're a healthy person, I would take the highest deductible.

My word, I am so glad that you have decided to continue vlogging but I can totally understand, social media subscribers can be quite rude and offensive but like others have commented, try and let your haters be your motivators. You have to keep in mind that wages in Switzerland are way higher than most places in the world and that reflects to some extend on the prices and cost of living.

The prices of produce depend strongly on the season. The grapes you showed were from South Africa because grapes don't grow in Europe at this time of year. So in early Fall grapes are much cheaper because they can get them from Switzerland or Spain.

Jenifer Stanley Bullshit! Fruit is most expensive when it's from Switzerland. Switzerland keeps imports out when swiss fruits/vegetables are available by charging very high customs fee. For example, in March, 500g of spanish strawberries cost Fr. 1.49. In June, customs charge Fr. 6.- per kilo on imports. Then, 500g swiss strawberries cost Fr. 5.-. Switzerland is a communist economy country.

Health Insurance: In your case you have chosen 2500.- until the health pays. you can also chose this „franchise its caled“ to be 300.- so that the health insurace pays your bills after only spending 300.-.... but you will have to pay a little bit more per month... 400-500 it depens on your insurance company (I pay 300.- and I‘m 21)

Hello Leontyne, I'm new to your channel and I really enjoy watching your videos. I'd like to suggest that you explore making your own cosmetics...ie foundation. You can make foundation from cocoa powder and baking powder. You can make your own lipstick from beeswax and crayons! I'm not joking. There are many DIY vids on YT. Also, the best hair gel I've ever used is the flaxseed gel I made...try it and you'll see. Not only are natural products great for your skin they are much more inexpensive. Thank you for your vids. I live in an expensive Canadian city and some of these prices were a bargain to me (like the milk and cheese) and most other things were comparable (like most of the grocery items, transit, rent, pedicure and restaurant prices), but I do remember when I was in Basel that some things were definitely on the pricey side. I remember paying 6 Swiss francs for a 300ml bottle of water. Been enjoying your videos so I hope you keep doing them :)

i think you missunderstood health insurance, its not about being sick in the bed a couple days with fever, you are insured for anything in case you get a actual disease or accident. home care and medical rehabilitation Benefits during pregnancy and motherhood Continued pay in case of illness Benefits in case of illness or its treatment Preventive and early detection measures Disease prevention services

are there any meetup.com groups for expats in Switzerland | I do hope that you meet and make genuine friends while you're out there. Try to to get some sun during the summer as living in Europe is bad like that, especially in the winter. From experience also protect your mental wellbeing - a lot of people are saying keep the channel or do this or that but ultimately consider your own wellbeing. In ending it may not mean much coming from strangers but we love you. Cliche but thank you for what you do and the voice you bring to issues. ❤️

I get that totally, I'm based in London and balancing life, ambition, fun and just making new friends can be tasking when it really should not be. The crux is that people will invite or ask you out only x-amount of times and then you may be labelled as not wanting to chill - so for 2018 I need to balance that out a bit better - I do however enjoy my own company and chilling quietly though, lol Lionel :)

I was accepted in a school in Geneva, Switzerland in the French-speaking part and I just would like to know how much do you think is the cost of living that I have to consider per month as a prospective student like me in Switzerland? Including these 4 necessary basics: accommodation, health insurance, transportation and food. I love luxury goods, are brands such as Hermes, Chanel, Dior and other luxury goods brands expensive in Switzerland? Have you checked and visited some high end stores? Lastly, what advices could you give me if I want to save up on money in Switzerland considering food, water, clothing, thrift shops (If there is! haha) eating out, transportation, leisure? while still not working? You have to learn how to live like an European girl! You are not in the US, go to a local coffee house, it's cheaper and better. You are in Switzerland to experience their culture, why do you need to go to American coffee chains like Starbucks and Dunkin doughnuts? You can do that in the States when you go home to visit. I recommend you get rid of some of your American comforts and replace them with European comforts such as good local coffee shops and fresh farmers markets.☺

You need to go and Shop in Germany in Lorach at kaufland everything will be one third of the price in Switzerland and its tax free if you get your receipts stamped at the border the next time you go shop they will give you all that tax money back

You can get health insurance for just 240 francs a month in Canton Zug, for example. By the way, health care in CH is considerably cheaper than in the USA: your maximum health care yearly expense, including premiums, deductibles, contributions, etc., will be around 7000 francs, whereas in the USA it can reach tens of thousands if not more, even with a health care insurance. Compare it with low skilled work wages and CH becomes a deal: someone working at Walmart barely makes 2000 USD per month, while someone that works for Coop or Migros makes around 4000 francs.

Flavio C yes insurance in America is about the same price BUT insurance in America is not mandatory and I never had insurance there. I would just pay per visit which is really cheap in America. I need to move to canton Zug! Basel’s tax and insurance rates are higher :(

trust me, if something happens to you (like a accident or something) you'll be very happy to have health insurance. in the USA you would have to pay all by yourself (without insurance) but i think you know that. back in 2006 I went to San Francisco with my mom and sister. my mom had nose bleeding after we arrived, so we went to a hospital. a doctor checked my mom after 7 (!!!) hours of waiting and he didn't do that much. so after we came back to Switzerland we got the bill: over 5000 USD and our insurance paid everything. it's just better if you have it, also the system (health care insurance, "retirement as well as unemployment insurance" which are these 5.5% and 1% in your paycheck) works after the principle of solidarity and this fact is very important. also, i think you still just have to adapt and learn about how to live here, so you are still in a process. I wouldn't move to Zug just because its cheaper, you can still save some money in Basel and Zug is way smaller...do you get a 13th month salary? most employers pay it at the end of the year so you can use it to pay your taxes. if you have any questions, let me know oh and just ignore the hateful comments to spare yourself;)

Hi girl, i am black living in Switzerland(Zurich). I order my hair products from UK and get it shiped to a pickup address in Germany. On weekends i cross the border and pick it up. Way much cheaper and i don't have to pay import taxes when imported to germany. I have learned to do my own hair and never visit the hair salon, too expensive and not worth it. Switzerland is expensive but i love it.

Marco ocraM about 40 minutes from where i live to the pick up location in Konstanz. I buy in bulk(what i will need for atleast half a year) pick everything up at once and use the opportunity too to do other shopping in Konstanz. Way cheaper i assure you. I have been doing this for the past 7+ years living in Switzerland 🇨🇭, i don‘t even know where African hair shops exist here 😆.

I do want to say, in the US the prices alcan be higher depending where you live. I live in VA and grocery prices are a tiny bit lower than in Switzerland. Also, a mixed drink at a club is $12 and a beer is $8, unless it is a budlight than it is $4-5.

guys, don't forget about the way higher paychecks in switzerland. depending on the job you're doing, you get alot more money than on other countries in europe. but sometimes you're right. there is stuff in switzerland which is ridiculously expensive...
