I had a lot of fun trying out a different type of video. I hope you find it useful when budgeting your trip and to get an idea of what things cost comparing to WDW! Remember to check out our website tdrexplorer.com/blog for more planning tips.
I was fortunate to visit the Tokyo Disneyland resort a couple of years back and as a non-fanatical Disney fan I was so impressed with everything. Tokyo takes everything to the next level. Now after spending five days at the resort what made me mad and sad all at the same time is that we Americans pay more and get less when it comes to a Disney experience. If you are a Disney fan save your lunch money and go spend a week there. It will be the best decision that you have ever made.
Thank you for watching! More people need to come and experience the wonderful parks here. They're not perfect and have their issues but overall I love them dearly.
If that's how you feel about TKDL as an American, just imagine how we European Disney fans feel. Disneyland Paris is even more expensive than the US parks and the quality is a lot worse. (I would say worst quality out of any Disney park) As Disneyland Paris passholder I got infected with the Tokyo Disney now. I can't wait to visit.
Would love to see a comparison with Disneyland in CA. Casually watching vids I’ve noticed prices are generally higher in CA than FL, esp for food. Nice to see the Japan prices are comparable, and good grief I’d love smaller drinks for sure! Just need to save for the plane ticket! Thx, this was very informative 😄
We were at WDW just last month for the last HEA fireworks and visited all 4 parks. We didn't stay within the Disney resorts because there really weren't any perks. Even transportation-wise, TDR is still better because although the monorail at WDW is free, you still need to park your car in the lot in order to take that monorail, and parking for one day will cost you $25. That's alot cheaper than taking the monorail at TDR. Plus, TDR is just all around better. Japan over Orlando any day! Just waiting for the borders to welcome us back! 😊 Awesome video as usual! 👏🏼
They still have shuttle buses and ferries that take you to the parks, water parks, other resorts, and Disney Springs for free if you stayed at their resorts.
#price I found accommodations the most surprising difference, since that will likely be your biggest ticket expense beyond flights. Definitely makes a trip to Japan seem more worth it , once we can travel from the US. Thanks for all the great intel!
i am Japanese and used to have an annual pass for TDR in 2018. i am currently living abroad and haven't been back japan for almost two years🥲 i am hoping that this situation would improve soon and visit US parks that i have never been to before~ thx so much for sharing great video! SO interesting 🤩👏 p.s. クリスさんがパークでキャストさんと日本語で会話するシーンが大好きです〜いつも楽しいビデオをあげてくださりありがとうございます!🥰
Great video! I hope to escape the borders of Australia soon and come visit. I don't mind if my Japan cocktails aren't as strong, the fact I'll be drinking them at Disney makes up for it!
Loved this video as an Australian that’s been to Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong Disney I always compare to Tokyo and don’t know if I would be disappointed travelling all the way to Florida as it is double the cost of an airfare to Tokyo. Perhaps Tokyo will just be my go to resort. Thanks so much Again for another great video !!!! 🐭
I went to Tokyo Disneyland back in July 2018. It was probably the best disney experience I had in all my life. The price tickets were so low compared to florida (which shocked me since Tokyo is expensive), the cast members were so friendly and tried their best to help me, themed ambience. It was like the best version of all parks together. Japan takes everything onto the next level. If you ever visit Japan, please don't doubt a second on visiting it.
Price! I'm planning a trip to Japan in 2023 Spring and LOVE your videos! I can't get enough lol. I enjoy the vlog style as well as these informational ones. Keep up the good work
Thank for sharing. Actually I used to visited only park in Asia (except Shanghai), so it's very interesting about price in other parks. Btw I still give the best park award to Japan, not only because they have such a beautiful park, but also the kindness of cast member is in the gold standard.
What a great video! I’ve been very fortunate in that for all the times I’ve been to the TDR, I’ve only had to pay to get in one time. The other times I was working on projects so that made it amazing! They usually put us up at the Sheraton which is an easy bus ride to Ikspiari and then a short walk to the backstage gate. I’m back there for a month in July and really looking forward to it!
It cost more for us to travel from CA to FL as a family of 3, then CA to Japan. If it’s your first time going to Disney and want the Disney magic, go to Disney Japan.
Great video Chris! This will be super helpful for planning my trip hopefully in 2023-24 😭💖 I'm a big fan of yours, keep doing amazing content. Love from Mexico ♡
This is a great video! We are Disney fans. We’ve been to Disney World several times and also visited Tokyo Disney parks which we ❤️. We’re going on a Disney Cruise and Disney World next week. We will definitely return on Japan when they reopen to visitors! Although a Disney World vacation is more expensive, they do have a lot more to offer.
Love the video. Me and my wife are planning a trip in 2023 and your videos have been great. Also speaking as a person who lived in orlando for 8 years you were generous about the WDW pricing lol
Excellent video, very informative. Loved the enthusiasm that showed through your reactions. I definitely understand, probably more than you as I’m a. Large larger size 😂 about the T-shirt’s… I absolutely love that waffle shirt… wish I could get one in my size… that won’t happen. 😂
Loved the video! I'm wanting to go to Tokyo Disney in December (so long as the numbers stay down) and this is a great (price) guide for figuring out my budget. I'm going with friends and they want to stay at the Hilton--we all want to stay close to Disney--so I'm happy that you included those hotels too. Looking forward to more videos about Disney parks here in Japan. :) Also recently watched your video about USJ since I went the week before Halloween and it was also super helpful. So thanks for giving all this advice!
I am from Austria 🇦🇹 and i want to visit all Disney Parks (and Universal) in the World. I am now planning Tokio but it is really complicated compared to the U.S Parks - at least for me. I will watch all your Videos to learn how to do it the right way 😂
Last week we spent $110/night (after all fees for parking and the resort fee) at the "Holiday Inn Orlando Disney Springs Area", a good neighbor resort, which basically shares a parking lot with the Hilton you listed at 16:00. We had a good time there and the room was pretty nice. Also, the ticket prices at Disney World change drastically based on the day of the week you are visiting, the time of year (value, choice, etc), and the number of days you buy at once. In order to keep you there on campus longer, Disney will try to entice you with longer stays dropping the price significantly after the 5th day. Multiday ticket prices used to drop after the 3rd day but, you know, Disney be Disney. All of that said, the $110/ticket price that Disney shows is super rare and only occurs between the end of August and the end of September, during the middle of the week, year when kids start going back to school. The average cost for tickets at Disney for now (until they bump the rates again) is $135 for a single ticket to a single park with no addons.
Hoping in 2023/24 to head back to Tokyo Disney Resort, but this time take my wife and explore a little more of Japan. Followed plenty of your tips on our HKDL/Shanghai trip that we slipped in just before everything closed
Very helpful in comparing what the difference in costs are. We are in California so it’s a lot easier for us to visit Disneyland, where as we have to plan for Florida. So much easier In knowing what to expect. Thank you and great job. Key word price
Thank you for watching! I tried to have fun with changing up the background. This was my subtle way of slowly showing the stuff I have cause I'm always asked haha.
I would love to know what other characters Tokyo Disney has. At one point, Princess Aurora & Alice were popular…are they still, and in what park? My cousin lives in Japan, but I don’t think he’s big into Disney.
Watching your Merch videos I always think this is an amazing price and others I am like they are out of their minds! You have made me fall in love with TDR and can’t wait to visit someday.
I loved going to Tokyo Disneyland, it was seriously the best!! The prices were really good compared to Universal Studios, which in my opinion was SOOOO over priced for merch, it was actually...bad.. But the one thing i wanted to get from Disneyland was the keychain/pin plushies, but I found them to be really expensive out of everything, overall, best priced theme park I've been too!!!
This was super fun! I would probably compare Tokyo Disneyland more to Disneyland than Disneyworld but it’s super interesting. I’d love to know more in depth about the resorts and dining.
Just a tip, you can always choose a hotel near Disney at Tokyo Bay (about a 10mins bus ride away), where the hotels are outside Disney but still offer frequent tour buses to Disneyland and back. Those hotels usually also have buses that go to and from the airport.
Price... Honestly, as an Australian watching this, I did enjoy it and found it very informative for future trips. Both to Tokyo Disney and Disneyworld. I'm excited to plan more in the future.
Price! Thank you! My daughter wants to go to Japan, and I want to go to Tokyo Disney. This info will help persuade my husband whenever this whole COVID nonsense is done with.
_Price_ this was really interesting, of course i still think prices are better at TDR especially since WDW is headed in the direction of higher and higher prices lol
I’ve heard Disney sea isn’t good for wheelchair users because the ground is not really flat. But there only seem to be Disneysea disabled tickets left, so I’m a bit torn. 😆
PRICE! I loved this. I think it'd be great to get more videos like this. I so appreciate you and all your work!!! Can't wait to go back to Tokyo Disney Resort.
I’m lucky enough to have a family that’s crazy about Tokyo Disneyland. Every year since I was 3 (I’m 21 now), my family has been fortunate enough to be able to to TDR for a week at a time and I can tell you… TDR is amazing. Genuinely one of my favourite places in the world to be :))
besides the hotels i am SURPRISED that the prices are very similair, americans always tell me disney world being so expensive you better bring atleast 2000 dollar with you if you wanna do anything really.
Hi there. In tokyo is there much in the way of character experiences such as stitch and beauty and the beast. And merch as well? I just saw the BATB popcorn bucket which is beautiful.
I am going to be in harajuki, can you give me a tip on har far Disney is from there? I seen your Sanrio Portland video as well and that is also an activity I’d like to do while in Japan. Any tips on how far and how I could get there?
Any idea if/when Japan is gonna let Americans come visit you again? We were planning to come visit for the first time this upcoming May, but this looks unlikely at the current moment…
Price. We're planning on November 2023. I will be downloading your ebook as this channel is the most helpful and informative. Plus it's so fun watching someone get so excited about plushies.
Price 💱💸 I like the comparisons you made for Disney World and Tokyo Disney Resort. It gave me a better idea on how much things usually cost in Japan compared to the US. Gosh, I didn't expect ticket prices to be so much more adorable! Prices for admission, among other things have gone up more. Their current holiday ticketed events for Halloween and Christmas are smaller but more expensive compared to pre-COVID times 😣 I still like Disney World, don't get me wrong, but increasing prices and getting rid of free services like Fast Pass and Disney's Magical Express is taking it too far.... It's all the more reason to check out Tokyo Disney once this pandemic ends and I can afford a trip to Japan.
Interesting to see how prices for some things are almost identical between TDR & WDW. For hotels, when I go to WDW (I'm in Florida and live about 90 minutes from the parks), I usually stay off property and have a preferred hotel I can usual get for around $100 (or less) per night. I remember back 13-15 years ago when I could get a room at one of the moderate resorts for around $100/night and a value resort room for under $75/night. And funny thing... I was watching this while eating a slice of the WDW 50th cake I picked up earlier this week at Disney Springs. Tokyo is at the top of my bucket list though and I really hope it'll happen one day.
Excellent comparisons (although, comparing ticket/hotel prices to Disneyland - a two park resort with fewer hotels - may have been easier). I LOVE the merchandise at the Tokyo parks!! Glad to find your videos to help plan for a future trip to Japan!! 👍 Prices! I think my biggest shock difference was for food. Not so bad in Tokyo parks, especially for special drinks. Good to know! And the hotel price options weren't as scary as I thought they could be. 👍
Park prices were interesting. How many days do you suggest for each park? I like the PRICE comparison vlogs, very interesting. Will need to decide on in park accommodation or out. Do the resort hotels have any perks like the US ones?
Question about TDR annual passes -- (as I haven't seen anything posted about this) is it correct that they only provide admission; there are no discounts (hotel/food/merch) that they provide?
Someone has to say it and it might as well be me, The merchandise at Disneyland here in Anaheim is embarrassingly dreadful . And getting worse. Thanks for another great video!
Thank you for watching! I do think a lot of things are fantastic here, but we have a few things that are ... not that great *gives sideeye to Cape Cod Cookoff*
"Price"...This was an interesting video on comparing the parks. I did not know that tipping is not a thing in Japan and that it can be seen as offensive. You might consider doing a video on the culture of Japan. Things visitors might not know that would help a trip go a little easier. By the way, I enjoyed the wardrobe changes and the background changes in this video ;-)
Thank you for watching! I do love doing a bit of a wardrobe change when I can haha. I go over some cultural differences on our blog while you wait for me to make a video on this kinda topic! tdrexplorer.com/cultural-differences-when-visiting-tokyo-disney-resort/
