While it is important to wear face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, it also increases anxiety and stress for Deaf communities. For a lot of us, we rely on lip-reading and facial expressions. Deaf-friendliness is crucial more than ever for Deaf communities during the pandemic.
Our founder of deaffriendly shares her experiences when visiting a paint store while living in a masked world. We would love to see more businesses being deaf-friendly, not only during the pandemic but to always be part of their hospitality.

I notice how videos on this subject are ignored by most people. If it were a video on inconveniences for the blind or physically impaired there would be all kinds of views and outraged comments. But I find the disability that, I, and thousands of other people all around the world share is overlooked and even in some cases ridiculed. When I ask someone to please lower their mask so we can communicate I either get flat out rude refusal or the obvious sigh and eye roll. Even though we are deaf or HOH we all know when that happens. Thank you for making this video. I have shared it on FB. Hope you don’t mind.
