User error😂😂 It's all thanks to edvard i saved my $1500. I was following fuji blindly (it's a great company no doubt) but i recently they're not listening to the community like they used to.
Fujifilm needs to be bashed constantly in order for them to fix the autofocus. We did the same with Panasonic. They were the worst for years. Everyone acknowledged it. Even Lumix fanboys knew they were the worst. They fixed it last year. We need to keep the pressure.
Panasonic depth from defocus (DFD) AF mechanism can be distracting but the focus is right on the spot. I don't mind use Panasonic DFD cameras for stills. But false positive AF in the Fuji cameras is disappointing.
Agree, agree, and more agree. Im asking Fuji every week to solve AF issues. This video hurts. Im keeping Fuji this year, if AF doesnt get better, im giving up, bye 2s, hello fx30... This video is a shame for Fuji. WTF IS THAT AF... A6000 GOT 10 YEARS, 10 F***ING YEARS... WTF is Fuji doing??? An XT50? X100vi?? They are ALL basically an XT5... Sony, Canon, perfect AF... Meanwhile, Fuji works in a 16-50 2.8 -... 4.8????? Who the hell wants that... AF, AF, AF... Im so close to be done with Fuji
My old Gx80 had like a 10x more accurate autofocus when taking photos, and very similar, maybe even a little bit better autofocus in video (on thrid party Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens). Clearly internet was just harsher on Panasonic 🙂
@@mdenjoyer831 that's just not true lol, the sensor is made by Sony, the only difference is that it has a x-trans colour filter array instead of bayer, doesn't affect autofocus at all
Is it wrong that I don't really like them? I find that I'm switching all the time because nothing does everything quite right, I've got too choose between weird cyan sky, magenta or yellow skin, weird foliage greens, etc. I usually try to stick to Astia - but I lose all the nice pink and purple sunset nuances, so I jump into Velvia or Pro Neg H. Which is fine most of the time, but it means I didn't need any more simulations than the X-Pro 1 had. 😂 I think I prefer Nikon, Canon, and Olympus colours more. Even Sony doesn't look too bad anymore.
this is such an unfair comparison! ughhh! Fuji is better! It focuses in advance. If only the model knows how to catch focus! Fujifilm focuses 50% of the time a hundred percent of the time!! hurr durhhh that viltrox lens is definitely faster focusing than the fooji! you should use the same exact lens!! arrrrgghhh Love the comparison mate! keep it coming! Fuji needs to change up their game!!!! Damn the Fuji colors are definitely so good, such a shame the autofocus is so crap.
@@renato.meinberg xs20 uses the old sensor like my xt3. I’ve tried every setting in the book on my xh2 and in each firmware update and it has not gotten any better. Still misses focus at least 40-50% of the time.
Criticisms like this will only make Fujifilm better, if they know how to take them seriously to better their products. This worked so well for Sony. (I remember when Sony was starting with their A7 series... bad auto-focus, bad ergonomics, bad menu system...)
Dude, it was 10 years ago, and Sony were first to make classic mirrorless camera. There were not any other competitors. Since 2018 everybody makes mirrorless with decent AF, and since 2021 it's almost flawless in Canon and Sony. What do you even mean criticism will make Fujifilm better? They can't fix for 5 years already.
They had 5 years prior to the X-H2S to blow up the current AF system and start from scratch. They didn’t do it, despite tons of feedback. I posted a couple of YT videos back then exposing the AF lies and was torched in the comments by Fuji fanboys. I almost cried when I used the A7iv for the first time.
" Criticisms like this will only make Fujifilm better, " Problem is, Fuji's known for over a decade their AF isn't great. So many FW updates stating AF improvements, WAY more than Sony ever released, yet we're still at this point, where Fuji's highest end ever camera is struggling in AF like it was using CDAF. Fuji won't do anything significant until their sales take a hit.
I’ve watched your video as well last year and has got a little bit better but you’re right! it’s not just the false positives it’s the almost in but not focussed anywhere photos that take the cake. As professional I don’t know how much longer I can mess around with the brand xh2s is the same price as the canon r6mk2 colours might not be as nice but at least the photos are sharp
@@catbread2585 Tbh I Didn't have alot of problems with the xt2 at least not to this extent, but I tended to use single point alot and never the video. But for some reason the Xh2s (can't speak for the other cameras) seems to like focusing on other things other than what you're asking it to focus on. A very simple test will enable you to see this.(as I said not as bad as it once was) a locked camera on a tripod taking a number of shots with IBIS switched off still shows and amount of focus drift on a still life and its problematic enough to cause problems with product photography. The argument here is a 10 year old camera with a cheap 3rd party lens is running circles round it.
@@gaza4543 interesting! Yeah I have no reason to defend them, I think this video can only benefit Fuji users in the long run, I was actually going to buy the Fuji xh2s to pair with my gfx 100ii (which is a slow body but I think everyone is aware of that) so I thought I would go for it to have a sharper faster af, but yeah, not going to happen, will keep the xt3 for a while and see what to do. On a side note, I was shooting stills with the gfx under the sun and sometimes I had overheating warnings, which is pretty bad cause it’s not even that summer HOT, so I don’t know, I bought that for weddings and now I’m a bit concerned, I’m still doing other works that will be ok with the gfx, but yeah, will see 😅
The Sony sometimes looses the face, but quickly recovers and does so smoothly, which is crucial for a pleasing result. The Fujifilm looses the face, panics, jumps around like a cat stung by a bee, finds the face for a second and then is completely lost again. The stepping is just inexcusable as well. They haven't cared for almost a decade, as people still buy it for the *tones* and the *aesthetic*, so chances are slim to none that anything actually improves. But hey, now you get a wheel to select your preset image profiles, isn't that worth much more than even remotely working AF?
The worse thing about the Fuji AF is that it lies. It's not even a thief, it's a politician. It shows you the green box but the focus is somewhere else. This is especially bad for portrait/fashion photographers because you can only check after the session if that perfect expression was actually focused on the eye...with video at least you know right away it was crap. And I know from experience it doesn't help to take several shots, "to make sure", because they will all be focused on the wrong area.
Spot on. I am a fashion photographer and I hate that the eyes are not focus even though it showed green while shooting. I have this problem on XT4 and XH2 as well.
I gave up after firmware 6. Bought an R6MII and on day one couldn't stop laughing. I caught a dog running at me full speed. EVERY SINGLE SHOT IN FOCUS. No special settings and using the cheap 100-400 lens. Every camera will miss once in a while but Fuji (I had the X-H2S most recently) has atrocious AF. Good for static subjects and that's all.
As I fujifan I want to thank you, because you've just saved me 2k euro :) Now I've got the same weird autofocus issues with my x-t3 and I was prepared to buy xh2s :) but now I don't know, anything but not this
Just curious, what lens do you use on the x-t3? I wonder if the 18-55 works better than primes. It's been good for me for stills, but not noticably better or worse than an a6000 with kitlens for stills.
To be honest, im a fujifan too but, hey, NO WAY, DONT BUY AN XH2S. Especially if you dont shot in manual mode. Do you want something powerful? Fx30, a7Siii...
I have a XH2-S and I actually don’t like the image it produces for video. I feel like the image is flat and overly “digital”. Sure the colours and dynamic range are nice, but there’s just something off about it. If you’re mostly shooting stills, I would stick to the XT-3. If you want to get serious about film making, I would not choose Fuji and buy a used BMPCC 4k.
I mean, I know the AF isn't as good as Sony. But I still switched from my a74 setup to an xh2s because the lag for non stacked sensors was too much for me, and an xh2s is £3k cheaper than an A1.
I own the XT2 and XH2 and I can honestly say that my XH2 is much more accurate for photo and video in any scenario, than my XT2. I also shoot Sony Nikon and Canon and Fujifilm’s autofocus has not caught up to the big 3 but it is leaps ahead of where it was. I’ve actually used my XH2 with various Viltrox lenses to record some of my friends RU-vid videos and I did not experience the issues that were shown here 🤷🏽. I honestly pick up my XH2 more than I do my Z8 and ZV-E1
This is the exact reason I left Fuji. I just wanted to take pictures of my son but it couldn’t even focus on him when he was sitting still. And that’s with the Xs20 and the 23mm LM WR
I think that's just your setting. I can take my baby daughter photo just fine with xt3 + those ancient lens (xf18 xf35f1.4) or tokina 23 That's just stills, video I don't dare to say anything
Hahaha. Sorry, can't post or link your videos on any Fuji forums. Your name = instant warning and thread being deleted. You‘ve got Fuji Mods, the forums all over, in a mess. The more objective and indisputable evidence you post, the more Fuji mods cry. Love it, Keep going.
I have Fuji XT3, and i see no progres in autofocus at all. I knew that when i was buying it, so i'm using manual focus only and i have focus motor for gimbal. So i treat it like a "cinema" camera. I think Fuji XH2S doesn't have ANY phase detection points, seems like this is a lie. Because it is impossible for phace AF to perform like that. It looks like it's contrast based only. And few words about a6000 - this is the best 1080P camera you can get for the price. I used to work woth this camera a lot in 2017. It has incredibly clean shadows when you push it. Far better than a6700. It has awesome dynamic range in video. Try to tweak a flat profile, or try to push the white point down in curves. You will be impressed how many information you will bring back. That's because it's 109 gamma, so 9% is above the viewing range. And colors.. they are decend. A6300 that came after was worse almost in everything. The only advantage was the 4k with overheating and unusable rolling shutter.
Exatcl, how i Was dissapointed when i buyed A6300 and see the 1080p is much worse than 6000. There is only reason why i sell my A6000 - blue light clipping.
Fuji needs to see this and do something now! Im sick of this shit... You can get a slightly used A7IV for the price of a new XH2s and the Sony is light years ahead. My next body wont be from Fuji thats for sure! Great video mate 🍻
Try Canon R8 for half the price of A7IV. It has even better AF, colors better than Fuji, it's smaller and lighter and with IS lens it's stabilisation beats Sony IBIS as well.
@@MrRafalEnR8 looks great, but their RF lenses are way too big and expensive. They didn't open their mount yet and theres no alternatives from Tamron and Sigma. Sony has a much bigger choice of lenses.
Fuji needs to reconfigure the autofocus from the very beginning. Fuji: please fire the engineers in charge of that terrible AF and spend the millions necessary to get those from Sony.
Oh the stepping Fuji does when going for infinity to close or vice versa is brutal. My XT4 does that. It has to like go half way, waits a minute, then finishes. Hahahaha😂
And this is why Voigtlander lens are getting popular for Fuji... Manual focus (atm) is the way to go on Fuji :( Fuji stop making new cameras! Fix your existing ones.
Thank you for this video, I have been using Fuji XH2S and am very frustrated with its AF. I shoot birds and I think the Canon EOS R has more reliable AF. I hope Fuji takes this seriously and fixes the issue
Whew! I was considering switching from my Sony a7iii to the XH2S cuz i wanted a Fujifilm camera for mostly photos but also something that was video capable. Safe to say, this real review turned me off from switching 😭😭😭.
Moreover, I was wondering if Nikon has actually improved in that regard, because I could instead upgrade to the Nikon Zf from my x-t30 but knowing that I cannot trust fuji anymore I wonder if Nikon can be trusted at all.
Fuji has terrible autofocus, even compaired to a 10 year old apsc cam. If you would compaire it to lets say a A7C2 it would completely destroy it, No comparison. Just checked and it costs a stagering 2700 euros and thats the autofocus you get. Very good video, just subt. Keep it coming.
When compared to the canon r7 and the sony 6700, the xh2s is the worst in autofocus. Arguably they have the best colours but colours can be fixed in post. Good luck fixing out of focus photos and videos lol
That 6.0 firmware should have stay in beta ( or at least give the choice to downgrade), seems that tracking works only with contrast detect and has many bugs. For the moment people looking for a reliable AF should only use Zone phase.
Dude this is fact! My old 2014 Sony a5100, a super basic small mirrorless camera, has a much more reliable AF performance than my colleague’s recently bought X-T5, one of Fuji’s smaller flagship
They have colossally f*cked up! All my fuji LM lenses are latest and they all step just like your demo. You can’t use Multi AF at all! I’m really hoping that they are actively working on a fix!
I made a AF test with the xh2s too....the result was similar. If the subject or the camera is moving it loses the the focus all the time. Tracking with the xh2s? No. Imagine to shoot a wedding and you have to rely to the tracking af...
I shot multiple weddings with my xh2 and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. For a year I’ve been waiting for a fw update that would finally fix it but I give up. Too many missed moments - walking down the aisle, candid moments in burst where the best shots are not in focus - my first time with my xh2, i actually missed the first kiss. I since learned to shoot in AF-S but I wanted to move on from the 80s. 1 shoot with the r6 and I’m back to canon
No. It happened only because it was compared to a 10 year old device. It's clear it's not even a close fight, so basically it's not just 10 years behind.
Wow! And that's the fastest sensor Fuji currently has. I'm really happy I've chosen the S5 II and not the H2. At first, I wanted the latter mostly because of the 8K video. Then, a sale (1700eur for the double-lens S5 II kit) came along and I couldn't resist, even if it's "only" 6K. BTW, did you know the H2 isn't truly 8K but seems to just upscale 6K to 8K? At least based on the DPReview resolution charts etc., I think that's the case. It basically has the same effective resolution as the S5 II's 6K Open Gate mode (but, of course, it's 16:9 and not "just" 3:2). Real 8K Nikon / Canon / Sony cameras have significantly better pixel-level sharpness than the H2.
BTW, at first, I was very skeptical with the Lumix's autofocus because, back then, I didn't know occasionally no camera is capable to properly autofocus at f11+. Now that I don't go over f9 (except when I expicitly want nice sunstars), I have had no major AF problems with the S5 II at all. Actually, now that I've shot at a major local sport event (Motonet GP) at 6K and, after realizing I had tons of visitors from India looking for their women's 100m hurdles-winning star Jyothi Yarraji, I've grabbed around 25 6K 30p video frames showing her two runs. I stood directly in front of the finish line and used the 20-60 kit lens at 60mm. Almost all frames turned out to be in focus. Absolutely stellar performance for such a n affordable combo! (Zone focusing with centered area and human recognition enabled. Camera on the DJI RS4 gimbal; I've followed (kept in the center) the winner during the shooting; that is, her.)
@@DarkPa1adin They aren't THAT good either - max. recording time is generally 60-90 minutes with them. Then, cooldown. While with a decent camera with active, built-in cooling records for hours in direct sunlight. I've done this (recording hour-long sport events in sunlight) with the Lumix S5 II (6K OPen Gate 30p) and it didn't let me down.
I Have an xt4 and xh2s. Probably going to sell one of those to get a sony for video and just use the fuji for stills. Its sad how bad the video autofocus is. I dont understand how they haven't put a statement out acknowledging the issues and at least say they are working on a fix and firmware update.
I wonder how it compares with Lumix S5 IIx and Nikon ZF in photo and video, I'm considering switching from Fuji but wanna my new camera be as exciting as my film cameras, and I know for the fact that best for photo for me particularly will be Nikon ZF and for video Lumix S5 IIx for video, problem is I'm 50/50 photo video shooter and don't wanna have redundant equipment, nor I have budget for it
To answer the actual video heading. Comparing to canon r6mkii (I now this and have own the Xh2s) I say the focusing system, single point is about 2 generations behind and the AFC is 4-5 generations behind. sorry fuji loved you but I need the pictures to be in actual focus.
A GH6 will destroy the Fuji. As long as you don't mind the bokeh balls pulsing. OG G9 probably as well, at least with AFC photos. Not sure how G9 would do with this kind of video autofocus test though
My LX100 has surprisingly sticky tracking and face detection for its age, it pulses but there's a constant effort, I actually like it a lot in photo mode. Fuji meanwhile just refuses to focus lol
Bought the X-H2 early last year and sold it after 3 months. Both with wildlife and Family-Events, it was completely unreliable. You think the camera is nailing it, but most shots are either soft or completely out of focus. Had to take like 20 pictures of a perched bird, just to make absolutely sure there's one that is perfectly tack sharp. The Z8 I got to replace the Fuji is in a completely different league, once you get to know the quirks of the system, it's rock solid and has never let me down.
Think I might be in the same boat. I trialled an A7iv and X-H2 before going with the Fuji and a 16-55 red label. I love it, but the AF false positives bug me. I can deal with not acquiring focus, sometimes. What I can’t deal with is telling me you’re focused on an eye when clearly in the shot you were focused on the wall behind. An OM-1.2 with 12-40 Pro II arrived yesterday. It may be my X-H2’s executioner. If not I’m going to have to go Sony (despite me really not wanting to for some unexplained reason).
THANK GOD I happened to come across your channel. I was within a day or two from purchasing the xh2s and going all in on fuji. Had watched tons of videos and never once was this issue discussed. Apparently the best fix for this is a new Nikon z6iii or z8 or a Sony from a decade ago!!!
As an XH2S user, I cannot tell you how often I’ve had issues with my af. And other users will tell me of you need to tweak the af settings. I’ve had an a6000 and an a7riii. Both much older cameras. I never had to mess with af for it to work. Fuji needs to get its shit together. I literally just use manual af on certain shots…
I find it incredibly funny that in the year 2024 there is an APS-C sensor Fuji camera for the price of a Sony A7 IV (at least comparing the prices in my country) which isn't even comparable to it. It's sad, really, for all the people that bought the camera on the premise that the autofocus is improved and comparable to Sony's (which seeing from your videos it clearly isn't). Makes me even happier that I got an a6700 instead of anything else.
The key for getting Fuji flagship is to buy it cheap. Either buy last generation or get it with heavily cut when they want to discontinue. The firmware is pretty much sorted out and you're not a beta tester for them They aren't worth it buying latest. Also don't buy non flagship if you hope for firmware improvement, the firmware update is non existent
Omg this is like comedy! It just hurt my eyes during watching this. Thanks for time and effort, for creating this video Edvard. Well.. At least Fujifilm skin tones are much, much better 😁
It is definitely fast at tracking… The green box hit rate is close to 100% but the green box isn’t actually a focus point indicator, it just says that it is focused somewhere that is not the green box
@@destinybond lol yeah that false hope, may look fine on the LCD, look at it on a computer monitor and shake your fists at the Kaizen overlords XD. Similar experience with samsung phones and how they process their images, looks okay on screen but then view your photos on PC and the regrets come quick lol.
Under the AF Mode for the FujiFilm X-H2S, there is no Multi-Mode; there is Single Point, Zone, Wide/Tracking, and All. The old firmware has Multi. Where are you getting that setting?
I use GFX 50s and I can say that the things I shoot in a studio, the 4x3 proportion is irreplaceable. But I use focus for landscapes and studio one point and tragically slow. I was wondering if I should extend the lenses which I have, so that I can also photograph moving people without having sports in mind. /Low sync speed, black out, no focus, no frame burst, no electronic shutter with flash/ I was hoping with the new sensor and processor this would become tolerable. So I'm now looking at getting a full frame CANON. This is absolutely unacceptable for a 2024 aps-c sensor. Someone seriously fails in АF department at the expense of many other things that are ok.
We really need to all vlogers who use fuji cameras make a hipe on this focusing problem, like recently with panasonic camera, so that on fuji would see that they are crossing a line with ignoring this problem that long
this is really timely! it's just not usable Autofocus. my xs20 using new lens 16-50 and also 18-55, it loses its focus everytime. however, my zve1 with kit lens won't have any issue. i enjoy your video and laugh so hard. sub!
I linked Your video to another (fresh) thread in dpreview forum, about poor Fujifilm AF-C but after 3h moderator have deleted my post with Your video, and all posts related to this. And this is not the first time. Is this is happening only among Fujifilm forums moderation ? What is going on here?!
@@edvard2942 Not really. Mods on dpreview are very understanding and open to criticism compared to other forums. I mean it - You should see how intolerant mods are on dedicated Fujifilm forums..😏 I recently spoke with mod from dpreviw about deleting my post with link to Your video, and I've explained to him that my intention was not to troll, but I just wanted to send a link to your video on the world's largest photo forum. I thought that maybe thx to this someone from Fujifilm HQ would watch your video and take steps not only to fix the firmware via kaizen updates, but to do general autofocus system overhaul. Redesign it from the scratch. Like Panasonic did. So after explaining this, my post with link to Your video has become undeleted, and now its still there - visible to everyone. Big shout to dpreview mods! 👌 I've also chat recently via PM on dpreviw with one of very few Fujifilm ambassadors in there, about poor Fujifilm eye-tracking AF-C performance (I also send him link to Your video), so perhaps thx to his contacts he can reach Fujifilm HQ and show them how in reality AF-C performs in Fujifilm cameras. And this user (Fujifilm ambassador) answered me, that in Your video there is no mention of how the AF-C Custom settings had been applied i.e. the tracking sensitivity and speed. And imho he is right. I know that there should not be option to configure camera so AF-C results are so bad as in Your video - but still, it's big problem and every detail may be helpful. So if You are doing this to highlight Fujifilm AF-C serious problems, please - post some information about Your AF-C settings, so Fujifilm ambassadors they will have good arguments to talk with Fujifilm engineers. They need to be sure that Your camera was set up correctly. In the future, I encourage you to write down your AF-C mode settings in the video (like Imtounge did), and the problem will be solved.😉
i wanna buy a new camera next year, was for sure its gonna be the xh2s. I come from a SonyA6000 for photos and a Fujifilm XT3 for Videos. I want a Hybrid Camera, i love the Fujicolors but damn these autofocus problem is throwing up my plans. Maybe they get a xh3s? next year or i will leave and go back to the sony system next year. Sadly, i really wanted to try the opengate and stay at dci4k. Sadly..please fuji fix this asap
Fuji just needs to stay in their lane. Make hipster cameras and "medium format" for studio and landscape photography. I put my total faith in Fuji and they let me down. Glad I never tried shooting video much.
I still got 3 A6000 and didnt sell them becouse i know if somethings happens i can do all work (wedding, reportage, photoshoot with my a6000) :) And AF in a6000 is realy good even nowdays. I shoot near darknes with sigma 56 at party, wedding and it didnt have any problem with AF. But in A6000 CAF is better then single point af :)
thanks for conducting and sharing this test. I sadly can only confirm this. I am mainly doing still, but I am immediately put mentally behind my camera when I see your tests. So said and embarrassing. And, as I am an optimistic and humorous person, it´s also funny at times how the camera e.g. seems to avoid eyes... (I am on x-t5 and various latest gen LM prime lenses and latest FW (3.01); I tested all kinds of settings in many hours. Main subjects were 2 kids, 1 and 4 - so true real life and not too challenging for a 2024 camera system; mainly AF-C). I think - without going there in this short comments field - the issue is multi-fold: eye detection (does the green box find an eye or anything else which for my eyes looks far different than eyes and is also more at the border of the impage) and sticking to the eye once found and green box != focus (T-shirt or neck or leaves in the backgournd are sharp but neither the eyes nor the faces) etc. In my opinion it got little worse with 3.01 and as said it's not only 1 problem. When I am really honest and picky my success rate (my mistakes excluded) is around 50%. For another 25% I see myself looking for "creative" Styles (Catpure One) or fancy presets to "save" the image, black and white can also distract from poor focus - maybe that´s why they offer film recepies and simulations - because a cool look can distract from poor focus and then you can call it "character" ;-)
I know FX3 autofocus sticks like a glue, but apparently I'm lucky enough i don't have this problem with my XS20 + 35mm f2

Great video dude! I like the style, I really do. I am a Fujifilm user myself, their AF is definitely not on par with the competition. Some lenses perform better than others, sometimes the settings of the camera need to be changed based on the lens you're using. The AF on other systems like Sony and Canon just works out of the box with most lenses. I still like my Fuji cameras though and I enjoy working with them both for freelancing and personal work. But I did enjoy the video! Super fain!
nice fair and non biased test, Thank you. I kind of accepted it on my xt30 as its fairly old, but after trying the XH2 and now X100VI. I'm glad i switched to sony.
I remember when the XPRO1 came out (2011/2012). My friend was excited about it, bought one, and pooh poohed my new Olympus EM5. It then turned out that Fuji focusing was awful compared to the Oly. Because I love their low-light rendering and because I hate switching lenses I currently have 3 XPro1s, an XE2s, and recently bought and XH2s and love the images but I still don't expect them to be able to compete with other brands I own. They're for static shots only.
if only my a6000 has that fuji color.. i dont need to upgrade my camera...ever!! ...well only when i have extra money to add another camera in my collections :)
Fujifilm Is In TROUBLE. I Have An XH-1 & As A Hobbyist I'm Lucky That I Haven't Been Affected By This. However This Video & @iamtongue 's Video, From Yesterday, Makes Me Ask ..."Why Upgrade To A XT-5?"... If Sony Comes Out W/A Classic Styled Camera, IT'S OVER, For Fuji. Nikon's ZF, Is Already Getting A Lot Of Praise Too, W/The Classic Styling.
I don’t really care about video AF, as I shoot with manual lenses, but this is unacceptable. I shoot on the XH2-S and honestly, I don’t like the image it produces at all. I think it looks very “digital” and one-dimensional. There’s something in the processing pipeline, but whatever it is, I don’t like it. I know not having an OLPF in a high res camera will cause excessive sharpness, but there’s more to it. I usually dial down the detail and add slight edge blur in post, but the footage still feels inorganic. I will say the colours and DR are great, but it’s not for me. I feel that there’s more than just specs that make a great image. I honestly prefer the image that I would get out of my BMPCC 4k and that’s a considerably older camera with a mft sensor.
👍👍👍👍👍👍 Yes, this is a great review! But if RU-vidrs make credible reviews (like this of yours), companies would no longer cooperate with most of them, because they need advertising, not credible review, and this is bad for RU-vidrs business. Cheers. ps fuji ok for manual focus, a6700 when you need reliable af.
Kept my xh1 as i do mostly slow stuff and focus manually, i am not a video shooter, if i were to shoot video id use my iphone, it tracks good. Some ppl talk about some bug.
Very useful video. In my camera collection I only have one fuji product, (old S5 pro) and love the colour but I have more modern cameras and often miss focus especially on long vintage lenses. I think that good autofocus is the quality that matters most to me even as someone who is mainly interested in still photography rather than video. I would be interested in learning which cameras have the best auto focus on the market today.
My seemingly vilified Z50 was released three years before this Fuji and I've never seen it perform this poorly even in lower light, let alone in full on midday glorious sunshine. Do you happen to have any experience with Nikon mirrorless as a point of comparison with the XH2S? Curious. Many thanks. K bye.
That's a social feature of fujifilm, to let us see more of the environment you're filming. "Oh, look at this tree!" Is fujifilms thinking. Also trees are more interesting than people. They actually catch carbon from the atmosphere to produce oxygen that your model breaths. Tree-AF is always on and rewrites your manual inputs. ( Which you could only set, because you breath oxygen). Thanks Fuji
It's a real shame that this version works so poorly. I have the XH2S with the previous firmware version, and just yesterday I finished an event where I took more than 20,000 photos in continuous focus with the 50-140, and it went super well, with very few out-of-focus photos. But when we talk about using video in multi-focus, it's horrendous. I only use area focus if I want good results. A hug, I love your videos.
