Not sure if it fits the surrounding area but I vote to fill the area with a big old fancy museum that has a plaza with some seating & statues out front.
A cool feature potentially could be a bit of tuilips incorporated into the build. Im a bit biased, I live in Ottawa and get to enjoy the amazing tuilips we get from the Dutch every year as their thanks dating back to WW2. Pretty amazing story behind it, where Canada sheltered the Dutch Royal Princess (at the time, Queen to be) during the conflict. As a thank-you, especially for designating the Hospital room where her baby was to be born as Dutch territory (I believe, if I remember the story correctly something like that) so that the baby would be born as Dutch and not Canadian. They ended up sending Ottawa tons of tuilip bulbs, which along with the entire flower industry in the Netherlands is a huge market for them. I believe theyve got the biggest flower auctions in the world there as well shipping and insane amount of flowers all accross the world. Lol ultimately what Im getting at is it could be nice to include some of those picturesque flower growing(?) operations. Apparently around 80% of the worlds flower bulbs are grown in the Netherlands. It might take up too much room for the build, but it would be nice to encorporate some of their more iconic flowers in the build? Id happily love for someone who is actually Dutch to correct or add more info onto it, and whether flowers are a big part of their culture, but I do know as a Canadian, were extremely grateful and lucky to get to experience all the tuilips they send us here in the capital with an awesome story and history behind it.
I LOVE this idea! it will be tight making everything fit within One Tile but that's also kind of a fun challenge as well to see if I could do a spot with windmills and tulips. Awesome build my man! i love that you are keeping the rampart elements to the old city walls, i've seen most people building dutch cities skip that entirely while its very essential
What you could do to hide some backs of buildings is putting flat roofs on empty places, or like extensions that were build in the open spaces. You could use some industrial building and just make it a procedural object. It could be some extension from like a big shop or maybe way back a workshop.
This is an awesome build! Especially for a non-European. They have always been a real challenge for me! Also congrats on the growth of your channel! Keep it up!
You pay rent (in the old days) according to the wide of your building. Small and high was the norm in the city centre. Houses like at 05:38 should be on roads not on behind alleys. Change them with the block at 04:55. Square at 17:44 could be a big terrace with a lot of cafe's and bars around it. See "Rembrandtplein" Amsterdam.
I'm also kinda missing some more modern buildings in the mix, when you're on maps sattelite mode over Haarlem for example you'll see a bunch of modern roofs
For the empty space I'm gonna suggest something a little bit crazy: a beer church. In Haarlem there is a café called the Jopenkerk (Jopen being a beer and kerk meaning church). Where they repurposed an old church as a café.
