For me distance motivates me the most. I'm 14 and I ran my first half marathon in February and I got 1 hr 57 and I ran the furthest I have ever ran in March, I ran 15 miles. I started running at the beginning of last year and the running channel has helped me so much with techniques and tips.
You shouldn’t be running more than 12 miles at a time under the age of 18 on a regular basis. There have been extensive studies on the detriment this long distance running can have in developing bodies. So be careful.
Coolest 14 hear old ever! Keep up the great work, and just remember to focus on recovery as much as activity. As you get older, this will become the line between running being a lifestyle change or just a phase.
I love how you can make running in a city look like so much fun! I recently moved away from my trusty trails and I‘m still adjusting to stopping at traffic lights and passing pedestrians. Maybe I really need a Garmin to plan out fun routes 👀
Sarah definitely had the higher pace but the direction she chose has the most horrendous sets of traffic lights in the whole of Central London. That's what cost her the win.
I'm definitely a "time" runner! Fair, when I'm racing I naturally enjoy seeing how fast I can cover the distance, but during training I've found it so much easier mentally to 1. get out the door and 2. pace myself appropriately if I focus on the time. When I knew I had to run 8k, I'd push too fast at the beginning wanting to get it over with, and the full distance sounded really daunting at the start. Now, if I know I'll be out for 45 minutes, I am so much better at starting more conservatively and pushing faster towards the end. I love these videos in London, showing so many roads I've run on! Keep it coming!
@@runningchannel No, but one day I'd love to. I'm currently in South Carolina, USA, just a couple of miles away from you guys 🙂. I've done city runs in France, Mexico, Netherlands before, a lot of fun, very enjoyable to me.
I started watching your channel at the beginning of the year, and it has pushed me to finally start running again after a bit of a lazy Christmas! I think that distance motivates me the most, and I will be running the Bath Marathon in the tunnels this year (my first marathon - I hope it goes well!), and I would love to run with anyone in your team. I don't know how you stay so cheery and keep on smiling - maybe I could learn some tricks from you!
Great challenge guys! Seeing all those traffic light stoppages makes me grateful for not living in central London, the quiet roads in the early morning are much more appealing in Wolverhampton!
I'm new to running so not sure I'd want to race against anyone in this challenge, but you're definitely inspiring me to keep it up! My first ever 10k is on Sunday, ahhh!
The new Garmin watches are so cool. I have my eye on the 255. I'd love to go on a run with Anna or Sarah. Running with them for an hour would probably be great fun.
I just ran this morning for the first time in 8 weeks due to an injury and it's funny because I ran 6 miles in about 58 minutes today on this beautiful morning and then I see this upload come across my phone. Funny thing is that's not the first time this happened because your videos are always so relevant, they help keep me going when things get tough sometimes!!
You remind me running is fun! Awesome stuff. Would love to race against James, he’ll know the best coffee stops. I’m motivated by the adventure, distance and time are secondary
I love this challenge - such a fun idea! Would love to race against Sarah, we could discuss our shared hatred of traffic lights and repeat running mantras 'Run the mile you're in! Run the mile you're in!' 🥳TEAM SARAH
I am a new runner and feel really inspired by Sarah’s prepatation video’s for her last marathon, so i would race (and lose) against her :) Love those new screens.
Haha....what a fun challenge. I definitely need to explore the course/route planning feature on the Garmin 😊 I'd like to do this challenge with my Mum. She's not a runner but I feel like she'll do quite well. She's one of those people who does well at whatever she puts her mind to.
With that sunshine and dry weather I am Team Mo! But I'll be channeling Sarah's out loud motivation for more first half marathon next week. Run the mile you're in!
Love these challenges, Anna was my inspiration to enter my first marathon, Edinburgh marathon I'm coming for you, keep them coming guys, loving the podcasts on my long runs
Me personally i would love to race both of you becouse it would give me the chance to meet you in person. You are such an inspiration, keep up the good work! 👍
Nice challenge! Thanks for the tip about route planning on Garmin Connect too. I hadn't noticed that function before. No idea who I'd like to do a challenge with, maybe Rick?
I started running about a year ago and your videos really motivate me to go out for a run. I was so happy when I saw you are making a podcast too! I don't think I would have any chance in this competition, it would be really cool to take part though
This was such a fun challenge! If I had to race against someone in London I would run against Sarah because I feel like Mo is too much of a London pro and his route mapping would always beat me
I love the idea of this. Needing to take everything into account when planning the route. I'd love to race Mo in this. And distance motivates me more than time does.
Honeslty, im currently training for my first ever half marathon in may. Your guys' channel has actually helped me accumulate a lot of running knowledge over the years, I've been running for around 2 years now, maybe around 1 year consistantly though. And honeslty I would love to do this challenge with my brother, him and I run together a lot so it would be a great little challenege with us.
Sarahs pace seems pretty similar to mine - decent challenge. Keep up the content. My biggest motivation is sometimes time, sometimes distance - but nature and the surroundings I find myself in along the way can also be such a huge motivator to keep pushing.
I would choose to run with Sarah!! Major inspo! Ahhhh but Mo is great too!! I love these challenges! Sarah and Mo make it look so smooth and fun! Way to go guys!! That Garmin Forerunner pace pro ❤would love that watch!
Looking at the video I wouldn't want to race either of you 😂but especially a race to plot an hours route on Garmin connect...3 minutes including syncing is insane! Well done though, great video
Team Sarah! If I start in the city centre of my town I could probably do a crow flies run toward London in an hour and it'll seem very straight ish! Love the look of those maps.
I want to challenge Sarah. I'm a dutchy and have a girlfriend who lives in London. It was fun to see Sarah run, where I always run when I go visit her. See you some day on the London roads with hopefully my new watch!
I would love to race Sarah as although she would beat me, it’s amazing to see her progress over the last few years. From an average runner to someone very speedy and achieving amazing distances!
I would race against my training buddy, Wigs. He is a bit older, but just as tough and hard-headed. It would be a fun challenge to find routes and even better to have a Garmin 965 guiding us through!
Another awesome challenge! That hail looked crazy but you powered through. I would choose Andy to race against as I think we are similar heights :D Keep up the awesome work TRC!
I really love that I don't live in a big city with traffic lights (ok, we still have one (1) crossing :)) As many others have said, distance is definitely the most motivating for me. Keep up the good work all of you on TRC. Maybe we will see a new average runner like Sarah was at the start (she's a pro now!) and follow that persons progress. //Kristofer
Great challenge. Reminds me of the Escape From Meriden race. For one of these challenges, I’d like to have a go racing my mad spaniel Sophie. With all the back and forth she does she’d definitely take the overall distance, but I might have her on the mileage as the crow flies!
Great job 😂 This challenge just makes me realise how I don’t only not like driving in London. I wouldn’t want to run in London 😅 I love the forests, trails, mountains and beaches….
Nice video! I ran across London for my Virtual London Marathon, it's definately a challenge with the road crossing and people everywhere. Lovely stuff and a cracking little garmin watch.
This is such a fun challenge! I'd want to try it with my flatmate, he's definitely quicker than me but I normally plan our running routes together so I might have an advantage there haha
Your challenges are always so much fun to watch and they inspire me so much. I wish I had friends who would do one of your challenges with me because that would be so much fun!
This was a great idea, especially in a city as twisty, turny, and trafficky as London! Great job to you both, it looked like tons of fun (minus the hail)!
Would love to race the both of you! Since im currently training for a sub 3 marathon this will be a fun challange to do myself during one of the trainings, will definitly implement this somewhere along the training block, Thanks for the inspiration.
I’d love to run with Sarah - Team S, woo! Found TRC Podcast at the start of my running journey only 2/3 months ago, now I love the RU-vid. Great challenge!
Last week I got FR265 and thanks to your videos I now mostly understand all the data I can see. My previous watch was 4 yo Vivoactive and it is great upgrade. I would definitely race my husband who’d get the FR965! Thanks for your content 😍
Would love to try this against my friends, I think I could do pretty well if I had enough planning time! Keep up the good work guys ( extra kudos to mo for doing such a great job will fasting!
Great challenge, and props to Mo for doing it during Ramadan too! If I did this challenge I'd want to race my friend Tim, who has the worst sense of direction I've ever encountered. During the first term at Uni, any time he wanted to go to more than one place in town he had to return to his room because he could only navigate anywhere if he started from college.
Excellent video as always 👍 I think I would choose to race a one-legged duck - maybe then even I might stand a chance of winning a straight-line route challenge !
Another fab video👏👏 On the rare times I run with my wife there is an invisible switch triggered as we enter the home straight and before we know it we're sprinting for home... i've never managed to win that race, but I'm very much thinking we will be trying this one!!
Great challenge. I’m for Sarah as I’m running my first marathon in London next weekend and have followed her progress training for her first. Great content.
Currently injured and trying to keep myself motivated by watching you guys slog it out with these challenges. Can I just be ' Team Running Channel' please? (Don't make me choose! 😂) 😊
I am just loving your challenges. Amazing. I am more motivated by distance than by speed, because I am just not amongst the faster people… And I hate to get that rubbed in. So, I just set a distance that challenges me. 😅
Love watching you guys! Sarah would be a great person to compete against just solely on how much your pace and time has improved over her first appearance on the channel it would be a great challenge to push myself.
I recently got back into running and I'm working my way up to 10k so I'll stick to racing myself for now 😂 The Garmin looks amazing, I've been looking at buying a Garmin recently!
That is such a fun challenge! Would've taken the eastward route myself, just because it feels it is straighter all the way out of London. Fantastic job both - and fingers crossed for the watch - it looks amazing!
running a 10k race in a couple of weeks, always come back to your videos to give me inspiration before a run! Haven't got to the end but I'm backing Mo so far
Love this! I couldn’t pick a team as I love you both. Good job. I’d do the challenge against my running buddy Rachel. We both frequently get lost and have a laugh about it but if I won this new garmin I’d be beating her for sure as I’d have no excuse for getting lost 😂😂😂
I’m team Mo because money 😂 I’d rather not race either because I run about a 14 minute per mile pace so I am slow 😬 but I always love watching Sarah! Everything about her just makes me happy to see be a viewer. She’s so cute and her energy is radiating in all her videos! Even the hail but made me smile because she didn’t seem to bothered by it “come on out sun!” Way to keep it positive!
“For everyone that comments team Mo… I’ll send you money” 😂😂😂 if I could race someone in this challenge I would race against my team I’m running my second half marathon with in June
Really great challenge! I would race my best friend as we both startet running a few months ago and try to motivate ourselfs as good as possible with fun little challenges.
Really funny challenge, and so brave for running inside of the city. I haven't even thought about going at maximum effort for an hour. I think I'd probably run for at around 13 to 14 km in that time.
Cool video and a fun challenge! I was Team Mo but Sarah’s route planning was *chef’s kiss*! I would take on my mate Phil, he can run further than me but I have the finishing kick and hopefully the sense of direction too
