Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra Conductor Richard Kaufman Vocalist Auli'i Cravalho First Live Performance, One week before Oscars Note: This video is demonetized. Any ad revenue received goes to the Walt Disney Music company
Auli'i and Moana are the role models our kids need. Keep it up... making characters our kids can also see in the mirror Disney. Here's hoping for a Latino movie.
I must admit I wasn't expecting her to be any good live, given the past performances of previous Disney princesses I thought Disney would not risk it and I was right, it took them months to green light something like that (still no official cameras though...). But after listening to this I can't help but feel sorry we had to wait so long, clearly the girl can sing and it's a shame Disney didn't use her talent to promote the film more. I understand they want to promote Moana the character more than Auli'i the singer for obvious reasons but this is just silly, let her sing, she's just great.
I'm not saying there wasn't any good singer in the past, there were good ones, but the recent ones were embarrassing, to paraphrase you: Idina Menzel, hello? Bruh (I can assure you that's not me).
Sometimes singers sound different without auto tune and effects, but Auli'i sounded just like Moana! I love her voice and she has inspired me as a 15 year old to start more singing lessons and performing art classes to be better at both. Thank you Disney for this awesome movie! :)
@@summerrain5324 Yes I know. But, the fact that she didn’t need auto tune or anything and sounds just as good as the songs in the movie is really inspiring
Give credit to the god of modern music - Lin Manuel Miranda. His masterpiece is Hamilton. The single best production of art in the 21st century. Just so you know:) He wrote a large part of the music in Moana.
What's weird is that none of the Disney princess voice actresses (who weren't already famous like Frozen) have become big names. Look at Jodi Benson (Ariel) and Paige O'Hara (Belle)
Man, she's living the dream. So many little girls grow up wishing for a Disney princess song of their very own, and Auli'i has one. I'm so happy for her!
Went to this and it floored me. It's a shame you didn't record her short Q&A after too, she's a really personable person. Really enchanted the crowd that night with her bubbly and REAL personality. Definitely makes Hawaii proud.
Auli'i is so talented and she sounds beautiful here, the only thing that could have been better is if the orchestra played a little louder so Auli'i didn't have to hold back, but besides that it was all around beautiful.
Same, but I'm hesitant that Lin-Manuel Miranda is supposed to be performing with her. Not that he's not an incredible performer in his own right, but I don't want him outshining Cravalho. She totally deserves this moment.
GO AULI'I!!! You can do it girl ♡ I hope she won't feel any pressure by how big this performance will be. Hope she'll just enjoy and do her best! Can't wait for the Oscar perfomance!
I love how her voice just sounds the same as the audios on spotify and the movie! even ariana's voice sounds different in live performances and her music videos
As another 16 year old girl who studies voice, I have an odd feeling of jealousy 😂 but seriously she deserves so much for all that she has accomplished and how much talent she has
I'm very proud of her for getting this opportunity to be a part of the Disney family at a very young age. I'm so happy that the people at Walt Disney Animated Studios decided to give a young teenage girl a chance to do this instead of going back to the olden days like 1990's and having an older women do the voice of a supposedly very young princess. Congratulations Auli'i I'm very proud of you. I hope to see you or hear your voice again in more movies in the future.
No, she's definitely acknowledging the orchestra/conductor. It's a thing soloists with orchestra traditionally do and, being a good performer she does that (though yes, she might have kept the mic in her free hand so it didn't look so awkward!)
She sang it on point, so her live and her recording sound the same which is great. Tho I kinda felt her struggle at the very end when she couldn't hold the last note any longer, that's really difficult
Haven't even finished watching and I can already tell it is her best live performance of this song. Not to discredit other performances, but it just sounds the best
Very few singers I've heard live actually sound like how they did on soundtracks or movies. I'm surprised and happy to see that she has pure talent! I really felt the character she portrayed in the movie here live in the song.
She is such a beautiful soul, she did wonderfully at the Oscars!! Got chuffed when she replied on her instagram to me lmao.. Auli'i is the perfect Moana, disney picked wonderfully.
Goose bumps the whole time, and maybe a few tears, this song is amazing, catchy, feely!! Everything you want in ANY type of song, let alone disney! This chick rules
Ok just imagine whoever is gonna pronounce her name before she comes to the stage....its gonna make pronouncing Adele Dazeem, I mean Idina Menzel look like piece of cake :D Anyhow joking aside she is so lovely and amazing!
Gigi Gutierrez It's Crah-val-yo - she's said it in interviews. From what I know, it's a Portuguese-origin last name, and in Portuguese 'lh' is pronounced as a 'y' is in English.
i wish she sang the final reprise of this, with the line "I am Moana!" finally resolving the melody. in every other version it's a final chord modulation that resolves the melodic phrase, but that last version, where her voice rises to the tonic chord, is SO satisfying.
