Had similar circumstances yesterday with Model 3 Highland RWD. It was 9 degrees, av. speed 90 km/h, without pre-heating. Consumption 138 wh/100km. So 66% higher consumption. Let's wait for the single motor test.

Hopefully the EX30 RWD single motor, will show a lower figure. Thankyou 👍👍

Hi! Thanks for the video. Is there anyway to repeat the test with a single motor? I know it’s not as aerodynamic and it could be and that’s a lot of it but I’m curious how much better it would be.

I’ll get a hold of the single motor once it’s in production and available 👍🙌

Are you sure the front motor is permanent one ? I wonder if the car heat the battery for some reason all the time so the consumption is so high
@TheH5rov
@TheH5rov 4 месяца назад
Great video! I think the front motor was engaged at some point. If you were driving in standard mode, the car will be using both motors with that speed. Eco mode will be using just the rear one all the time.
@RoamingNorway
@RoamingNorway 4 месяца назад
Thank you! I test all cars this way. Even if Eco-mode uses only the rear motor, you will have some loss in the front motor due to the permanent magnet design.
@TheH5rov

@@RoamingNorway For sure dual motor will be less efficient in eco mode than a single motor in eco mode, but I don't think the difference will be that big. Haven't tested it yet. My car is coming in a month and a half.
@dutchdryfly
@dutchdryfly 4 месяца назад
There is no eco mode in a EX30. In the performance you can however have the front motor not always on. But it will engage if you for example dona kick down.

4:32 You are able to set a "Dynamic Range" which takes into account driving style etc. So there is both options.
@RoamingNorway

I know. It is a guess-o-meter, which I do not like. I like rated range (or even better, percantage).

@@RoamingNorway So what is the most real "certified" or "dynamic"
@RoamingNorway
@RoamingNorway 4 месяца назад
None are. But rated(certified) is consistent. Dynamic will tell you that you can't make it when you are climbing a hill. @@kanalkridt123

It is unfortunate that many range tests currently do not clearly declare the range achieved as winter range, as if this is the real maximum range. Some of us also have summer. And not for too short a time.
@RoamingNorway
@RoamingNorway 4 месяца назад
Sure, but with an already heated cabin and 9 degrees celsius, there is only a minor imrovement(if any at all) up to summer temps. The main improvement will be summer tires. This is just to compare it to two vehicles that was tested in the exact same way.

Why are you blurring the speed? If you keep 110km/h constant you shouldn't hide anything, don't you?

@@slanecek yes... What? 🤔 Is there anything to hide? Is it prohibited to run 110km/h on that road?

It's 110km on his phones GPS. The car is probably over reporting, so it's closer to 115 or something. 110 will be the speed limit. Just being careful.

I heard that Volvo gives you total consumption whereas Tesla gives you only motor consumption. If this is true you couldn’t compare your numbers, it isn’t ?
@RoamingNorway
@RoamingNorway 4 месяца назад
Tesla does, but only when it’s moving. That’s why I only measure in movement.

What do you mean? Maybe you should divide kWh charged to km travelled

You mean that at the end of the trip Tesla gives you consumption data including other minor consumptions? Are you sure? Looks odd if it is
@Tobias-b
@Tobias-b 4 месяца назад
@@GobbotronicoTesla does not show everything taken from battery as wh/km. I saw this on my brothers MY after he had a long drive (600km) in minus 10. His Tesla showed average consumption as 220wh/km for the whole trip. But when he checked his loading stats he calculated that he charged 250wh/km into the battery and with charging loss (the amount he paied for) it was almost 300wh/km. One person stated to him that battery heating is not showed in Tesla as wh/km and that was the difference between 220 and 250. Could confirm with another youtuber when he drove a MY in minus 15 (not preheated) the car claimed about 220wh/km but the battery dropped by amount of 260wh/km...So these kind of efficiency test doesnt work unless every car reports the same way. Battery life (German YT) has started with comparing tests when he and the other car drives at the same time and he also shows the values after charging and the difference between cars is very small. More test like that is needed to show correct data.

You are trusting the consumption on the car system. Without charging the car you don't really know the true numbers.
