@@JewsAreAgainstIsraelThe original tv show ran for 38 years, and some of them have Red-Bull written all over them. Now its just some time for my favorites "Heen en weer" (Down a ramp, then straight for a couple meter, turn about 45°, then you go up for a bit. with the intention to "Drive backwards" onto a straight part, onto a finish line, all by use of gravity) or Tobbedansen (Off a giant ramp, onto water, then skip across water to a bell about 10 meters away) Its mainly just people in weird contraptions failing and ending up... in the river
@@alexmcclenthen8323 Interesting. And how did they become that? And then super wealthy athlete Mateschitz decided to provide a beverage out of goodwill, because it is good old philonthropist tradition?
@andreasrademacher5715 The drinks help fund the sports. But the sports are the main focus, not the drinks. My point was not that they don't make drinks. By point is that they are not a drink company. They are a Sports brand.
people get hurt all the time, but in the netherlands we dont wear bicycle helmets because they make you look stupid, so we collectively risk braindamage instead.
@@longdongmc.johnson Its funny how we all collectively just find helmets look stupid and just decided not to wear them. And besides a helmet is clunky. After you get to work or school on bike with a helmet, where do you put the helmet. So much unnecessary space lost
Yeah they were SUPPOSED to fall off like little talentless idiots for the people to watch and laugh like a jester falling in mud during the 1700s but these dumbasses thought “Oh GOLLY GEE, let us partake in such silly shenanigans but make it as *boring* and *practical* as possible, for WE do not know how to do fun-ness!”
And the person on the back doing absolutely nothing at meaning the person at the front is the only one having to deal with anything on their own, making it a lot more simple
This Dutch show was called "Ter Land, ter Zee, en in de Lucht". ("In Land, in Sea, and in the Sky".) Contestants built their own contraptions, framed around a bicycle or soap box skelter, and had to make it to the bell at the end. Each season had a different obstacle course. It was fantastic, and it's such a pity that they stopped airing.
The show ran from 1973 untill 2010, and was arguably one of the most popular shows in Dutch TV history. It had 26 different game versions but most of them had in some way water or ice involved. Some famous presenters include Andre van Duin, Jack van Gleder and Ron Boszhard
In the Netherlands there was a show called “Ter land, ter zee & in de lucht” which was a big hit. People from all over the country would compete in this kind of soapbox gameshow. Its on RU-vid. Its a good watch. Thank me later
There are usually multiple prices like fastest crossing, most original and most spectacular crash. And just competing is often more important than actually winning.
Back in the 90's, this used to be a show on dutch television. They would hold it in different towns every month or so. It was called: Ter land, ter zee en in de lucht. translated: On land, at sea and in the air. It's cool that red bull kept it alive.
for those who might be confused: the competition is to see how hilariously you and your partner can plunge your bike off the side like dumbasses, and everyone aced it. except the last pair, who were the only ones who failed.
@@kyro514it fine, i fell off my motorbike all the time on hard ground, only end up with a few bruises, they feel in water, they be fine, they have guard near by too.
That last duo knew exactly what to do. Keep the 2nd person tucked in tight to first rider to center the mass so he can feel the balance of the bike and make adjustments. Also they don't have an unweildly shape to the contraption.
@@craigevans8912😂. How do you say you are an older mtnbiker without saying you are an older mtnbiker. Think dangerous Dan, or Wade Simmons might be more relevant to riding skinnies though, 😂. (No offense meant, I'm nearing 40)
@@MyFiddlePlayerOne or two days of riding a tandem bike, and I'm sure I'd have it under complete control. The only difference being, how far back the back tire is.
Yeah I don't get this challenge, all it is, is a double person bicycle. anyone could've just used any of the hundreds of tandem bikes you could buy outright... not really even close to the same asthe push carts or the flying one they do
It’s based off an old dutch television show called “ter land, ter zee en in de lucht” (by land, by sea and in the air). There was also a prize for the most original vehicle, not just the fastest. You’re supposed the built your own vehicle. For most of the contestants, being original was far more important than setting a time. Building the vehicle and participating was most of the fun, getting across was just the cherry on top.
@@fishfreakssYou all complaining but the real competition was seeing who could fall off the most fashionably and ridiculously. Y’all definitely aren’t winning 💯💯
@@waddle..666 if the competition is to see who looks like the most uncoordinated idiot then sure. They all look stupid and anyone cheering it is also stupid to me so...winning?
When I was a kid (30 years ago already) the Dutch had a program on tv called: "Ter land, ter zee en in de lucht" (On land, on sea and in the air). They only did stuff like this and it was SO fun to watch.
For people who dont know; this is Ter Land, Ter Zee en in de Lucht, a popular Dutch event/television program from the late '70s, where they make an almost impossible track with a challenge bound to it.
It is red bull taking over the baton of an old Dutch show called Ter land, ter zee en in de lucht. Aka, by land by sea and in the air. It was a fun show.
I guess the whole company is a marketing exercise ;-) How much of an underwhelming uncool average beverage can they sell with marketing instead of a good product? ... they sell more... ;-)
