Was here in February. The trap is slightly different and there's an extra jump down the bottom where you have some serious speed. Sometimes the workers get mad at you for going too fast...
If anyone is going to New Zealand, please do this last. I lost the grip on that first jump and got rolling for some 10 m on the ground, luckily it was my last day so I didn't have to do everything else feeling like I was run over by a truck.
This is what people in these days are too much games and the dont see the difference between game and life they think that they can respawn in real life
I did this track, luckily I made it but these people ahead crashed, I curbed someone how, however, my mum, my friend, and my friends mum weren’t that fortunate. They crashed into the slow pokes. I literally went forward and heard screams so loud. I someohow finished this track when I was 11.
Wow! I've never heard of this before, only those kind of summer toboggan rides that exists in the Swiss Alps etc. Consider this added to my bucket list for sure!!! 😍
Awesome sauce. Love the little stamp on his right hand. They give you that stamp to prove that they have shown you how to brake. If you go too fast and stack it, well that’s your own stupid fault mate - you knew how to brake. There’s no suing for compo in NZ which is why such fun is available. And you do get airborne at 0:59
The real Slim Shady if you go flying off the track and break your neck you can’t force them to pay your medical bills for the rest of your life. It’s your fault m8 we showed you how to brake.
@@therealslimshady3662 you know what would fly in Germany? It is me. Because I'm a pilot. I fly and I also do uh food stuff. If you know what I mean. So yea that's why I fly
0:56 can get some pretty good air off that small crest. As long as you take the corners before with a nice line so you can hold speed, you’ll be getting some decent air. We used to see how far we could land.
1:37 make sure you slow down here, when the track gets narrow and you got speed you gonna fly outta that cart 🤣 did it myself and seen 3 others do same thing
I have been on this a lot when I was younger. It is so cool. Its faster than it looks on video. Great fun an yes the crashes when you go too fast are so cool. Love it.
Went on that thing when we visited NZ way back in 2009 - One of the greatest things ever. If I lived there I would ride that so dam much. Much for fun than go karts
I was one of the folks who helped test the track when they built it my brother came off on one of the jumps they had and lost most of the skin on his right side we were in shorts singlets and flip flops (jandals) lol
Yea I also wouldn't ride in normales clothes there, it's fucking stupid. Looks like they are going pretty fast, at this speed you'll get badly injured when you crash. Racing isn't just about fun, kids.
Ridden this as long as it's existed. What you are watching is the "modified", or "safer" track. In the early days at the top there was a serious Air Drop that went to a decline which accelerated the carts to warp speed. Then you had 2 options, to take the next right hander in the Fast or Slow lane. Adrenalin junkies took the "fast" option, those who shit their pants after the dropoff and decline took the "slow" option to take some pace off. Had a few crashes myself, mainly from inexperienced or young kids being stopped or having a meeting between themselves on a blind corner. Skinned the side my left leg from ankle to knee once, took 2-3 months to heal. i'ts still great fun, and we ride it whenever we are in the region. You just keep going back.
Good fun ride. I did this last week. Crashed at about the 1.19 mark on this video, while trying to pass a kid on the outside (something I never do when driving on the road!), and got some skin abrasions for my carelessness! Also lost my reading glasses at that point, so if anyone finds them let me know :-)
Okay, this is total Bucket List territory here. Wherever this is, I wanna go. [Edit] It's in New Zealand. Well, crap, not much chance of an American getting let in anytime soon.... After all, we're walking disease vectors now!
I’ve seen a little asain kid fly off the track once. I spoke to him like man you were going fast and he replied in his native tounge. I was like cool let’s race again
I did something like this and a little girl with her mom stopped and blocked it midway so everyone had to stop in the middle, we didn’t even get to go again.
There’s something similar in Tennessee I think it’s called Alpine slide it’s fiberglass basically seems a water slides that they slap a mechanics creeper on and tell you to ride
I rode this track in 2001. In just a pair of shorts, wasn't the best idea. Came off halfway down and gravel rashed my arse, it wept for weeks haha. First day in NZ aswell!
I went on this thing a few years back. At the time for an extra couple of dollars you could have another go. what the video does show is how bumpy the track is & the carts have no springing. time i finished my legs were like jelly & I could hardly walk & as I literally crawled away the guy in charge of the track called me back to remind me I was due a second go, I declined. But a great experience anyone under the age of 60 must give this a go.
@@Soandsoguy There's no way they're going over 100km/h, much less 200. In fact, not a single gravity-powered car has gone over 200km/h. The fastest one that I know of went something like 160, and that thing looked like a bullet.
I did this with my uncle who was in his mid-60s at the time so you have no excuse. If you get down that way seriously do it, it's a blast. You may wanna stuff a couple socks or something into your drawers, it's a little rough on the tailbone I won't lie. But 100 percent worth it.
Took my class there and the boy in front of me kept putting his shoe out to slow him in the corners. His shoe caught fire. Lots of smoke pouring off his canvas shoe. Gave himself a hotfoot
I remember seeing omeone falling off the luge and.sliding along the concrete when we taking the chairlift back up. The persons face turned almost purple with how much scraped off on to the concrete 😳 Still love this every time I go 👌👌
Oh man this looks like so much fun...and no, ''Alpine Sleds & Alpine Coasters'' are not the same thing in North America. For those who've never tried the ones at ski & mountain resorts in the USA & Canada: * You don't get to steer the cart. * You don't have a range of speed (unless you want to argue there's a difference between moderately slow and even slower) * You don't get to race against anyone. * Most of the ''ride'' time is being pulled up a very gentle inclined cable lift as you're strapped into your cart (or in some cases the carts are waiting at the top of the hill already). * It's the adult version of those 'Old Timey' cars in amusement parks where you're on a track slowly watching the scenery go by as your kid has a blast thinking that they're ''driving'' the car. Only in this case it's some adults who think it's the best thing in the world as they ''drive'' their carts, meanwhile their teenage & young adult kids take a nap in the cart behind. (For the record, there's nothing wrong with the experience, it's just important to know it's a very tame and scenic experience more than a thrilling one). :)
I fell off this once, I know that I fell because my arms were in constant pain but after that I forgot everything. Apparently someone collided with me and I caused a pile up because of me falling, so words of advice for people, don’t try to go more that what is comfortable on this. Oh and words for the wise, the max speed for this can come to around 70km, but I fell off at 50km and I got hella hurt
Where is this? There are go kart treks where you do the same but with a motorized cart. In Mexico they have similar carts but they actually use them on the road
Вот это крутое развлечение))) мы так же в детстве только на двери от холодильника гоняли с горы, только там были жесткие препятствия в виде деревьев!!!
Everyone saying this kind of thing wouldn't work in USA cause they would get sued, but nobody mentioning that the track just isn't wide enough for Americans
We used to have these when I was a kid but they have long been dismantled around here.. fun times. First aid was ready for the road rash at the bottom of the hill. lol
