How Fast Can A Bodybuilder Go On A Bike?

We've seen that a bodybuilder cannot beat a cyclist uphill, but that got us thinking, can they beat a pure sprinter? We've gone to a velodrome to find out, can a bodybuilder beat a sprinter at their own game using brute force and power?

The issue with that is, it will never happen 99% of the time. People that invested their time building gains in body building will never let go of what they worked for. Its similar to cyclists who has done years just to switch to body building. Muscles are more important to body builders than being skinny but have high aerobic capacity.
@vesalehtinen4534
@vesalehtinen4534 Год назад
@@PhiyackYuhwell I don’t think anyone is suggesting that he would switch to full time cycling and ditch body building. I think the point is that with a bit on practise, he could be seriously fast on the track, without compromising on muscle mass, or other body building goals.

I think this specific bodybuilder vs track cyclist episode has been helpful in emphasizing how lifting heavy (either using a bodybuilding or powerlifting based scheme) does have net positive effects on cycling! Even without training, Brad put out good power there which was I presume because of the strength he developed in the weight room. Anecdotally, I can also say that cycling to work often has helped me recover faster from heavy lifting and the gym. Which means better strength progress and therefore better cycling as well! It’s a perfect match, in my experience!

Super fun video to watch and Brad's performance was very impressive. I still had my money on Harvey though, not only for his experience on the track, but also because of the cardio aspect, something bodybuilders typically avoid doing. I'd be curious to see how close Brad could get to Harvey's time with more practice, and how much weight he'd have to give up to get there.

A fairer race would be Brad vs Ollie in a sprint or Brad vs this dude in a climb. Make this happen GCN!

Been waiting for this and it did not disappoint, just need to give Brad some lessons and get him back out there for a rematch!

What bikes are they using? Looks like a pro time trial bike vs a regular road bike. I would like to see them both on the same bike. Supper impressed with Brad for only his second time on the track.

Exactly what I thought. The pro time trial bike had *deep wheels* and a *narrower bar*, making it much more aero. Also The bodybuilder has much more *upper body area* to block the wind, so also much less aero there. The wheels and tires alone would be enough to justify those few seconds difference...right?! or am I wrong? To be honest, I was shocked/impressed with the results, since the bodybuilder would typically not have so much slow twitch fiber muscles as the pro rider that trains very specifically for that purpose, every day.

the pro had a dolan DF4 and brad had a dolan pre cursa There's nothing comparable to be fair

Great job Brad! Very brave to take on this one! I bet with a little more time on the track he could use the rest of his power and be veerrrry good.

I’m certainly not a weight weenie or aero obsessed but Brad was giving away enough advantages before he even got on the inferior equipment. Tenths of a second really count on the track and it didn’t really give us a fair indication of how good Brad could’ve been. Loved that last race though!

Brad is a great sport, enjoying these videos. His extra 'dietary' assistance makes up for any disadvantages on the sprint track though....

I think Brad's got potential in sprint races. Give a couple of months to enhance his riding skills and I'm pretty sure he's going to win some races.

Smooth out Brads line and with it the confidence to deploy his unused power and I reckon he could do a sub 12. Would love to see you give him a week to see what he's really capable of.
