Imagine Sam trying to doing this in under 100 hours without much of a plan on a tight budget while doing random challenges

This would be great as some sort of international travel competition.

I think this would be a very great game show where you circumnavigate the globe in less than 100 hours

It'd be pretty crazy if they made a whole channel dedicated to a game show about this that is named after the headline of the article about the guy who holds the current world record which is shown at 2:19

Could you first imagine how Sam from Wendover would do this in less than 100 hours against his editors, and then find it this good so they put subscribers into this competition to see how crazy we were for thinking Sam would do this himself.

I'm pretty sure that if you had enough money you could convince Russia into sending you around the world in about an hour an a half; or you could wait till commercial orbital flights become more common.

Once Project Sunrise begins, you could fly Sydney to New York, New York to London, then London to Sydney. In what I calculated 50 hours. But I thought London to New York was 10 hours not 7. Depends on the time one flight arrives and another leaves.

Apparently you can do it in about 4 days, unless bungee jumping is off limits in Singapore, in which case, you’ll wind up stranded with your hand in a puddle before desperately trying to search for non-existent local booze and losing everything on a roulette wheel. QUESTION: During the time of that short-lived Concorde service betwixt London & Singapore via Bahrain, would it have been possible to connect, in London, to that flight from a transatlantic Concorde flight from New York to cut one's circumnavigation time even shorter by making an even larger portion of it consist of supersonic flight-time?

I noticed when you showed the journey of where the two Australians flew you placed Melbourne's location where Adelaide's location is. Not to be nitpicking I just live in Adelaide so it's easy for me to notice.

As soon as Singapore Airlines brings back SIA-NY direct flight with the A350-1000, things will be much easier... Simply London - Singapore - New York - London Using the old SA flight 21 (operated until 2013 with A340s) flight time , the total would be 13 + 18 + 7. That's a total of 38 hours. Add connection time and you can beat that record.

It would mean a lot to find an itinerary that would match the record. Hmm. The flight record is actually 31 hours, 27mins, 49 seconds in August of 1995. The flight began and ended at New York JFK and flew eastbound with stops in Toulouse, Dubai, Bangkok, Guam, Honolulu, and Acapulco.

The link has been discontinued (understandably) but I'd be curious if the advent of the London-to-Perth route has reduced the minimum number of hours? It seems to me that a non-stop flight from London to Perth and a non-stop flight from Singapore to JFK would get us most of the way there in about twenty-two hours combined, and then it would come down to the smaller segments and the layovers.

I wonder whether peoples entries for the competition in this video provided any useful information for the challenge against Wendover this year. Perhaps the pandemic has changed flight patterns too much for this to be useful.
