Looks fantastic mate, just proves that the products certainly do make a difference. And t.b.h you would think you used J prem pitch on the smaller section also, as I can't see any difference between the colours of the two. I know the barenbrug is a dwarf rye, so can be cut shorter than the prem pitch, but to look here you would not know two different brands of seed were used. The brown areas you had have totally gone green, I think it just looks like it is slightly brown there still because it is still thin in those areas, so we are seeing brown soil. Once it becomes more established and thickens out more, that won't be seen🥳🥳

Looks even better 24 hours later. The rain we are having has helped too! Cutting both at 20mm now. Will see to bringing the HOC down on the Brug in the next couple of weeks. But I am super sold on the Molturf!

@@TheReelMowingMowingClub yeah we moan about our terrible Summers, but our Summers sure are good for our lawns🤣🤣🤣when you start going below 20mm on the brug, if we have another mini heatwave, I would make sure you give it a sprinkle daily with the hose pipe to stop it losing its lovely deep green. Get up your parents and film so we can see how their recent reno is looking now😉

@@TheReelMowingMowingClub nice one mate, that B and M johnsons seed you used on your parents lawn looks lovely, and it contains dwarf rye and fescue, so should spread and allow a very short cut. They do reckon we could have another mini heatwave coming in about another month, I need rain to fill up both my currently empty water butts🤣🤣🤣

On the side lawn yes plenty of unfortunate poa. I need to invest in a verticutting machine to help manage it as I don't have the time to wander over and pick bits out

On my Webb I've added a scale to the roller brackets using a junior hacksaw blade. My process was to mark the full length of travel on the brackets (using the u-shaped steel bracket). Then I split the full travel into 5mm steps from the lowest height of cut. The 5mm on the bracket doesn't equate 5mm height of cut, but simply gives me 6 height settings. I can now easily set the height equal on both sides. Really useful to eyeball that both sides are still equal. I also roughed up the contact faces of the roller bracket just to give a bit more grip and stop it slipping.

Not a bad idea that. Some of the older models have a height gauge there I believe. I checked it before cutting with my trusty setting bar and it was cock on 20mm. It's moves during the mow unfortunately. But I'm spying a new one, and also looking to get a bigger reel mower. Rounded down to a choice of 2

The Webb isn't perfect, but is a great bang for your buck. Slight mods can definitely improve it. I would fix it, give another used one a good home or buy new. A bit like Yardbrah, it's a USP of your channel. No doubt an Allett etc. would be great, but your channel is a good advert for not spending ££££'s and getting great results.

How often do you think you're going to spray the nitrogen? The instructions day you can use it every time you water. Thats intended for plants but it made me wonder if the benefits will be short lived. I hope you don't get the cobra too soon because i'm impulsive and ill have to buy one too! Ive already got the hayter, the webb and a suffolk punch. I dont want to be caught slacking 🤣

Think it will be a while before I get the cobra or AN other mower... Might be a bi-monthly application as its worked well but there are a few spots popping about where the grass is now looking hungry again

@@TheReelMowingMowingClub I think if be going for the Cobra over anything else to be honest. It'd be nice to get the Allet Stirling but I haven't heard a bad thing about Cobra and for the price, it's hard to justify the Allet

I guess your added in the stones on the left of the lawn for extra room when getting out the car? Did you add in the two trees to give character or to personalise it more to your tastes. The lawn is looking immense.
@TheReelMowingMowingClub
@TheReelMowingMowingClub 3 месяца назад
Thanks david. Yep. Combination of widening the drive so we can go two by two, and the flag stones have a lot of concrete overspill which will affect the grass. Wife wanted the trees. Had little topiary type trees a while ago but one died off 😞

Will you be doing anything with the shaded corner? I have some areas that are thin after seeding. The soil and seed are the best choice for the location but if it's thin now then there is no chance over the winter. I'll be removing any thinning areas at the end of the year and putting in some large shrubs like multistem cloud camellias etc. This was my last go at trying to get grass growing in the really shaded parts but there is no shade tolerant grass. all grass needs full sun to look acceptable. I could knock the house down and live in a tent.

Near my little apple tree? I'll look to add a bit more seed in September probably but hoping that it will have a better chance this year over winter. Last year it was a baby going into winter. This year it's been able to establish itself for longer so hoping it will be a bit more resilient time will tell Can youbnot just replace the bricks with glass panels ??? 😅😅

@@TheReelMowingMowingClubI’ve thought about one of those but the weight is putting me off as is the faff of the cartridge change. Allett Cambridge is my current thinking but requires a few more Great British Pounds
@TheReelMowingMowingClub
@TheReelMowingMowingClub 3 месяца назад
Allett far too expensive for me. Weight of the cobra is something to be wary of, but a heavy mower gives a better stripe 😅. I can get the 17e, 10 blade cartridge, rake, grooved roller and verticutting cartridge all under the price of the Stirling
@iangreasby

@@TheReelMowingMowingClub fair enough. I’m still evaluating what to do. Allett Cambridge is £400 more than Cobra but the cartridges are more expensive. 80kg is probably not recommended by my chiropractor 😀. Getting great results from my Hayter Harrier battery so trying to justify to myself that I need a cylinder too
